"UNSTABLE" the soles are too thick for trail running. They are too tall and cannot feel the trail. If you have to plant your heel, you might need medical attention.
I love the fit and they grip like Spider-Man, but I just bought a really expensive pair of lawn mowing shoes.
Take 20 mils out if the heel and make this a zero drop shoe and you will have 5 stars and I will start buying them again

I bought a pair in the UK in June last year for leisure and have only walked on paved roads. After about 30 km there is no tread left on the heels. My old Nike's did 4 years and at least 2,000 km of paved & rough trails. I only weigh 65 kg so the wear rate is ridiculous.

I love Speedcross - had four pairs of 3s over the years. Unfortunately the Speedcross 4 is significantly narrower and uncomfortable, so reluctantly I'm on the hunt for another brand.

Tested one pair of Speedcross4's and the shoe is a definitely a retrograde step back from model 3. The new 4 design largely decouples your foot from the texture of the terrain?
Model 4 feels cushy & sloppy, but that is not my preference for a high performance trail running shoe. Yes the model 3 could be hard on the foot in angular gravel or sharp rock edges, but you felt precisely connection to the running surface. I have worn out 4-6 pairs of Speedcross3's every year since they first came out. My feet took some time to acclimatize to them originally but are completely addicted to the feel now.
Fortunately I stocked up on the old model 3 which hopefully lasts me until the model 5 is released. Assuming that the future model 5 returns to the high performance pedigree of the old Speedcross 3 design.

I bought these shoes online and was disappointed that they didn't fit at all. My shoe size is a regular size 9 and have never had an issue with size 9 shoes not fitting. The description should indicate that they do not fit a regular shoe size.

I've supported these shoes for 15 plus years...no more, even the reps know the sole has longevity issues. I can't get 6 months out of these with gym and light-moderate street use (walking, mind you) from these shoes. The tread is fine but the compound has steadily gone way south from where they originally were when introduced. This is exactly the issues with another popular brand Chaco. The other issue is due to heel rubbing the fabric around my achilles wears out. This additional problem has happened 60% of the time. This my final pair as I can no longer in good faith support Salomon by buying their shoes.

I bought this trail runner to train for an ultra marathon (knee knacker) to be an all season shoe. Snow, mud, rock terrain, steep routes, and long miles. Unfortunately, it was a let down and performed poorly compared to competitor shoes. It even contributed to slips and falls on technical routes that my other shoes gripped to with ease. The shoe neither performs as a lightweight racer nor does it provide optimal cushion for longer distances. The shoe has poor traction, the chevron design on the sole have so much surface area they act as a slippery surface. The traction slips on logs, rocks, roots, and creek crossings constantly. It has on many occasions made me very fearful about twisting an ankle on technical train, unlike my other trail runners. I have slipped and fallen twice in these shoes (in 2 months) despite falling only once in five years prior to this in other trail shoes... this speaks huge volumes to how this shoe fails as a trail runner. It is best suited to gentle gravel trails. All in all, it's a shoe that tries to be an aggressive all around trail shoe but fails to be a reliable ultra race/trainer shoe and fails to be a short distance racer. The quick laces system has failed catastrophically during long trail runs (had to be replaced) and the quick laces system loosens during high speed descents and wastes time and energy to retighten. This shoe fails to live up to its true design and fails to provide a all around trail runner for the avid trail athlete. It couldn't handle the hardcore North Shore Kneeknacker. I will give it points for it's style and durable uppers though. I won't be buying again and am disappointed.

2 months old shoes, the heal cup has failed. The material split apart causing my heal to blister. I'm 65 years old only use this shoes at the health club 3 to 4 miles a day. Not everyday!
Save your money. I will never buy another pair of Salomon shoes. Junk!!!!!!!!

I bought these at the end of January but only started wearing them at the end of may. They lost there waterproofing very fast. Now they let water in but dry really slowly making them stink.

Nothing wide about these shoes at all. Should be ashamed for marking them as wide.

I bought these shoes on Saturday after running a Spartan Sprint and finding my Asics runners grossly lacking in grip for this course. I had a Super the next day, my fifth OCR of this season. After one Spartan Super, there is already a tear in the side between the fabric and the sole :( I know these races are tough, but I expected the shoes to hold-up to a season's worth of wear and tear and they didn't even make it through one race.

These shoes are by far and away the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. Felt like they were trying to crush my foot by bringing my pinky toe to meet my big toe. Even when completely unlaced these shoes were very painful to wear. Only made it four days of wearing before these ended up as trash.
