I bought the Ariel '14 and fell in love. I was so sad when I wore those out, and went to buy another pair- all that was available was the Ariel '16. They were not bad, but chunkier and heavier feeling than the '14. The '16- simply awful. they were tight, unforgiving, and my bunions didn't make it two hours before I had to change my shoes. I miss the light, flexible fit of the '14. Brooks! Please consider making the '18 more like the '14!! :o(

I have been wearing Ariels (or Beasts when I could not stand the pastels) for 10+ years - until they came out with the '16. I love the colors but they changed the support and it is nothing like the old Ariels. I need the support I usually get from Ariels because of a knee injury and they were the only ones that I could wear for any length of time but that option is lost to me with the 16 version. My entire foot and half my leg were killing me after an hour of wearing them. I tried 3 different pairs and all had the same results. Brooks acknowledged the changes and it may work for some, but not for me anymore it seems.

I've been wearing the Brooks Ariel shoe for years after having surgery for a split PT tendon. They are extremely comfortable and provide the support I need, even accommodating the orthodics I require. My complaint is that Brooks has taken this outstanding shoe and totally ruined it with their outlandish styles in the past couple of years. Now I see they only offer this shoe in one color. Why can't Brooks offer more color selections of this shoe; to include one or two in a toned down color? Would love to see them bring back some of their past designs. Now that I'm down to the last of my Brooks Ariel, I'm forced to look for another shoe that will give me the comfort and support I need.

I was excited when these came out, been using this shoe line for 10 years. These are a sad successor to the Ariel show line. No supportive as previous shoes. Cheaply made (got a hole in the toe after only a few uses). Gave me a bister on the heel. I ended up buying a different shoe for the first time in years.
