The extra wide are too narrow in the toebox and the plastic at the bottom edge of the shoe that extends above the sole is painful if your foot is at all wider than the footbed. It also seems the extra 'width' is extra volume. It is a very tall shoe. Admittedly my foot size lies outside the bell curve, but I don't have a hard time finding comfortable shoes for other sports. FootJoy needs to develop a last with a narrower heel and a wide toebox that doesn't narrow. My guess is, that like me, for many people with wide feet, the place where the toebox narrows for aesthetics is the exact place we need more width. I played golf daily for 20 years, then took a long break, which also gave my feet a break from golf shoes. Now I know why my feet were always in so much pain when I was younger.

Feels kind of loose inside the shoe. Right size.

Probably the most comfortable golf shoes I've ever worn, but my heel slips through my swing. Unfortunate because this is what the shoe is supposed to prevent.

I've worn nothing but Footjoy for 20+ years. I play 3-5 times a week and walk most of the time. Last year my heals started hurting toward the end of each round. I have been wearing Footjoy Contours for quite a while (4-5 pair) and realized I needed more cushioning, especially on the heal. The Freestyle have a very nice, well cushioned insole, that's why I bought them. My course is rather hilly with a lot of side hill and up hill/down hill lies. The upper on the Freestyle is not as sturdy as leather and not as supportive., On the side hills my foot tends to roll inside the shoe, even moving over the outer edge of the sole. I've played around with different over the counter insoles, even just adding a piece under the front of the foot to try and tighten the fit but that did not help and actually made the shoe too tight. If you're playing a flat course, or riding a cart, these will be a very comfortable shoe. I've only worn them for two rounds so I cannot comment on durability.

This shoe sizes very large. I take 71/2 and would be better one half to one size smaller. A neighbor who takes a 81/2 fits my 71/2 perfectly. Since thes are a bit too large when I transfer my weight the shoe gives and does not give support. Otherwise the shoe is very nice.

Tried to replace spikes but the mechanism that holds the spike was stripped out of the shoe. Shoe was replaced and survived a spike replacement. When the spikes where replaced later in the season the same thing happened. For the cost of the shoe they, meaning both pairs, should last longer than 1 year. Extremely disappointed!!!

Love the style. But this is the first pair of BOAs that I've had (4th pair) that will NOT stay tight on my feet. I'm constantly re-tightening these shoes.

Over all satisfied. But cleats holders came loose when replacing spikes. Attempted to super glue them in with no success. Can no longer use them because spikes randomly pop out. Total bummer!! Usually positive and will continue to buy foot joy. Just didn't seem right for the normal quality I get from the footjoy brand.

It's comfortable but not as stable as I like. If you are looking for shoes for walking, this will work nicely. If you need shoes to hold your feet and prevent it from rotating, try something else.

I have two pair and can't change cleats on either pair. Clear mounts just spin in shoe mold. One mount completely came out. Both pair are toast after 6 months. Can't replace all the cleats!

I sent these shoes back because these shoes are not waterproof. Hopefully the replacement shoes will be waterproof.

My local Golfsmith did not have my typical size in stock so they ordered them for me and were delivered to my house. I typically wear a size 9 so that is the size I ordered. When they arrived, I tried them on and found that they were way too long which caused my feet to slide. I returned them for a size 8.5 which fit perfect in the length. After several rounds, my feet began to hurt so bad that I could barely walk due to the shoe being too narrow in the toe area. If I could do it over, an 8.5 wide probably would have been perfect but too late now as I am the not-so-proud owner of a pair of shoes I will not be wearing again...reason for two stars.

Love the design, I can't believe that footjoy let this shoe hit the market with the size problem. The shoes runs large and that's not good when buying online. I wear a size 11 and had to return them for a 10/1/2

I have used this shoe for the last month, not every day. Played 5 rounds and i'm sorry to say that this is a no go for me. It's comfortable but the stability that you expect from a golfshoe priced like this is missing. If you spend this amount of Money there are so many better options on the market. This shoe is fancy but that's it.

Very comfortable with the right pair of socks (thick). Lots of room in the toe box, so they slipped a lot until I got thicker sox. They are not durable!!! There is a seam along the toe that pealed apart within a week. It has become a dirt trap. the shoe looks two years old after three weeks. I am hoping golf galaxy will take them back.

To echo some of the other reviews here - unfortunately, these shoes have turned out to be quite poor quality. The spike receptacles have broken loose of the sole to the point that some of them popped right out, and others just spin continuously, preventing the spike from actually coming off. When I reached out to Footjoy, it was essentially implied that I must have done something wrong, and that I should have brought them to a Pro Shop for spike replacement. It is very unfortunate to see such poor quality - both in product, and in customer service - from such a reputable brand. I will be avoiding Footjoy shoes in the future.

I like the fit of these shoes but the soft spike is not replaceable. Bad design on the insert for the spikes. They will just spin in the sole of the shoe. I would expect more from the team that set the standard for golf shoes. Quality is no longer important.

Used on wet ground, but without entering puddles, water enters abundantly from the upper, wetting the feet and making the game impossible. Bad purchase on onlinegolf.it, which does not respond to complaints!

First time walking with these on a round of 18, one of my toes was in serious pain by the time I hit hole 9. I was limping for the rest of the round. Turned out that my toe got bruised badly. The bruised toe nail looks absolutely awful. I returned them and bought a pair of Adidas Tour 360 which are much more comfortable. Btw, I have other FJ leather golf shoes and they are fine.

I found the shoes uncomfortable. I used them for 4 rounds of golf and almost all the spikes are worn off as you can see in the image attached. I complained about the fit to FJ and they replied saying they do. It exchange shoes if they have been used.

They run long but when you get the smaller size they narrow down in the toe box. I dropped on so my heel wouldn't slip and now my toes are cramped in on the sides. Why not keep the width in all size lengths?
