I got this base layer for primarily a running shirt underneath a jacket, as well as for hiking in cold weather. I am a difficult athlete to stay warm and dry in cold weather. I run cold, but I also sweat a lot. This means activities like winter hiking, nordic skiing, or running is a tricky layering and clothing situation. I often strip clothing on the ascents and freeze on descents. Prior to this, I used wool base layers and found that them sub-standard in sweat management and wicking. So far I've used this base layer in three different situations. The first was a running shirt in 50 F weather for an hour, moderate run. The zip was great for running up hills, but this was the first shirt I've ever run in that didn't end the run with noticeable sweat stains or sections of wet fabric. The second activity was an easy run in 20 F, cold and snowy weather, underneath the norvan jacket. Again, sweat management was excellent and I finished the run warm, but not uncomfortable. The third activity was a hard 10k race in 20 F, cold and dry weather with some wind. I ran with this as my only layer. I never felt hot or cold, but relatively in equilibrium. This was a new experience for this weather type and exertion. Again, after the race, I found the phase AR to be not damp or wet, and I didn't have to worry about sudden chills from the cold or sweat. The fit of this base layer is incredibly form-fitting, but also with some relaxation in the torso and shoulders for movement. I am 5'10 and 150 lbs. The small fits perfectly. The pompeii color is more of a rust orange color and its attractive on its own. My only complaint is the zipper pull jingles during running. I'd prefer a non-metal zipper to prevent the slight, but noticeable jingle. I can't wait to buy a second phase AR. It's that good.

This is one of my favorite Arc'teryx pieces. It is incredibly versatile; I've used it hiking in the snow multiple times with outstanding results every time. When hiking in the snow I typically only need the Phase AR and a shell (I run really warm) and I've yet to be let down by it. The moisture wicking fabric allows me to keep going without stripping layers down to vent. It is also a great piece because I don't freeze when I stop to take a break, it has great temperature control, even for the All-Around Phase; because of this I haven't been able to justify wearing my Phase SV (the snowy areas I've hiked in haven't dropped below 20 degrees F so I'm still unsure how well the Phase AR does in those temperatures). I'll end up using the SV for the chillier days. I've also worn this piece as a base layer during the below freezing mornings on the way to work or college, and I don't overheat once I'm inside the 70 degree rooms either which really surprised me. Like I said at the start, this is one of my favorite pieces because of its versatility.

While almost every Arcteryx item I own feels like it was made for me, this one is the best. It's just started to get cool enough to wear this item in Nashville, which makes me very happy. It is perfect for hiking, whether you have a short sleeve base layer under it or wear it next to your skin. The warmth-to-weight ratio is fantastic, so it makes it into my backpack, as well. It's a simple, but perfect, garment.

This is a great base layer shirt that also looks good for general use. I find this shirt is more breathable, comfortable and moisture wicking then merino wool. The fit and design of the shirt is also nice, which is a change from ugly tight base layers. I could use this shirt for many uses from XC Skiing to hanging out in the city.

I wasn't shopping outdoor brands for base layer until I start choosing Arcteryx product. The biggest problem for me with other brand is that they are usually too fat around the waist, but phase fit great. It's also very versatile, works for a great temperature range and you can wear with or without a jacket. I wear it for hiking, traveling and many other activities.

Ive now purchased 4 different pieces from Arcteryx and everyone oof them has exceeded my expectations. Ive worn Nike for many years but the Arcteryx fabrics and construction are superior. The zip neck pullover is a mainstay for any wardrobe, great for travel, hiking, working out or going out.

der Stehkragen ist sehr wertvoll, da die meisten Softshell-Jacken mit angeschnittener Kapuze den Nacken frei lassen.

Bonne coupe ni trop serr ni trop lche.

First, a little bit about me. I am 1.74m (5ft 8in) tall and weigh 74kg (163lb). My chest measures 109cm (43in) and waist 84cm (33in). I have an athletic build and my challenge is always finding things to fit my chest/ back/ shoulders particularly when reaching and whilst maintaining a trim fit around the mid-riff. What do I say about this piece? There's so much to say that's good, for what should be simple to get right. And with this final statement in mind is where Arc'teryx are in a league of their own, because not every manufacturer gets it right! So less is more... It does what it needs to do, perfectly; It is true to size, comfortable next to skin and I wear it either alone or over a compression top as a light insulation piece. It is a great piece to wear on expeditions due to the comfort and although I have had mine for a relatively short period- the fabric seems pretty durable under a pack when worn without a shell. Simple & great!

Excellent baselayer bought for me at Christmas backed a few tops for new year trip to the Lake District virtually all came back in used as this was far more comfy and great at wicking moisture away. I am now using this when training on my road bike for 2 100 mile rides in Ride London and Velo Birmingham this year again this top works a lot better at keeping me dry and warm when spending 70 miles plus on a bike. The Only negative I can find is that I only got one for Christmas. I went for a large I am 6 foot tall and 13.7 stone.

This is my favorite base layer for ski touring outings. It's light and comfortable and so far manages to avoid the strong odour that can be associated with synthetic layers. It fits snug but is stretchy enough to not feel restrictive.

I use the Phase SL, AR, and SV zip necks for similar activities (nordic skiing, running, hiking, backcountry snowboarding), but choose the weight depending on the air temperature. I use the AR as a standalone between around 25 to 40 degrees, depending on the intensity of activity. I've begun to use the Phase AR and SV in place of the Rho LT because the Phase tops are better at evacuating moisture and dry faster than the Rho's and I would rather throw an extra layer on over a thinner baselayer than potentially sweat more in the Rho. The Phase AR is probably the most versatile baselayer that Arc'teryx makes.

I bought this piece last year for running and hiking in the spring and fall. It is very comfortable even if its next to skin. I even worn it for snowshoeing around end of march. Strongly recommand. Sizes are perfect, I'm 5'11 175lbs and i had a medium one.

I bought this initially to use for a multi-day mountain marathon in October in the UK. It performed brilliantly in cold, wet windy conditions. It somehow dried out in a cold tent over night too which was great as it meant I could wear it again the next day. It was comfortable under a Gore-Tex Active Shell jacket too. I have worn it for running in a fair amount since then. It washes well and still looks as good as new. The one downside of it compared merino is that it will smell a little more, but the comfort, warmth and quality negate that minor detail. I'd fully recommend this as a medium weight base layer, the orange is great too!

For me it is warm enough when it is around 15 - 24 c. I usually wear a wind breaker on top. With a bit of sun, this base layer is warm enough for me even at 1,000 meters mountain top. I wear this for paragliding. When I am flying, I only have this base layer with my flight suit on top. It keeps my warm when I am in the air for 2 - 3 hours and at cloudbase.I wore this in the French Alps, in Canada and in Chile in mid spring. No problem at all. The only thing is that when it is under 10c, it is not warm enough for me. I wore it in early spring here in Ontario, Canada and I was cold. In terms of fit, it is perfect. I am 5' 9", athlete shape. I am very comfortable in it. It is also quite durable. I had a few tumbles on rough surface. The shirt is still holding up well without wear and tear.
