I am now on my 6th Alpha SV jacket because they keep falling apart. Deliaminaton of the outer layer has happened 3x. The cord around the base of the jacket imploded 3x and all I can say is I am happy there is a lifetime warranty. All my friends ask me "why do you keep buyng it?" and frankly I am not sure why. And I know for a fact you will not print this because its negative.

I did not expect my Arc'teryx Alpha SV jacket to come apart in the wash. Don't get me wrong. The jackets design and tailoring of the jacket fit me very well. The Gortex fabric is durable and very waterproof when maintained and clean. That is why I gave it a one star rating. However, when following cleaning and maintaining procedure for your jacket over several years. Be cautious of severe delamination issues. Unfortunately, I will not be purchasing another Arc'teryx jacket

I bought this a few years back. Love the location of pockets, hood design and fit. At it's price, this as a premium product and I expect premium function, durability and support services. I had hoped to keep this jacket for years. Unfortunately, I've had multiple zippers issues including the main that prevented me from fully zipping up my jacket (without tape to hold the fabric back the zipper got consistently caught). Earlier this winter, I contacted support (after trying a store first - they do not support) and was told it would take 2 weeks to review my pictures and decide next steps. Once reviewed, I was told I can not apply tape or perform any repair on my own. I was also told due to covid/resource shortages they would not repair it themselves. There was no suggestion for how to use the jacket this season. I was given the name of a third party to repair. After some back and forth I was given a 40% off coupon, but that missed the mark. It felt corporate, I was certainly disappointed.

Did not anticipate the jacket advertised to be made from "the most durable materials" with "most rugged technology" per the product write-ups would fail so quickly. After only a handful of uses, 10-12 total, the otherwise good-as-new jacket has worn irregularly at the point where my backpack strap rests. This is so frustrating as you'd think such an expensive jacket's "practical lifespan" would stand up past 10 uses.

Gluing on the seams does not hold. I have washed the jacket according to the instructions and haven't even used it that lot. 3/3 on our family have the same issue and Arc'teryx won't even fix it! Very dissappointed.

I have the same problem as mikeAlps, Brge123 and the rest: I thought this was a top of the line jacket. But only after 3 - 4 years the glue that holds the taped seams together are dissolved in many places. Arc'teryx claims that a repair is not an option, as the fabric is contaminated "from oil, sweat and dirth that can't be seen". With heavy activity, the jacket should be washed as often as ordinary clothes. But I have always washed the jacket, when it was dirty. When you buy the jacket, there should be a big sign: "Wash it every week. Otherwise it won't hold together." Arc'teryx will not replace the jacket. RA # 915518

Hi, Hope this one is much better than previous Alpha SV which I had purchased 3y ago to "over kill" anything, I can meet in the mountains (Alps mainly). I was shocked with poor resistance of high level competitor's jacket (Goretex Pro as well) which had given up after 6-7 hours of rain. That day, I was heavily chilled out so I have promised to myself to buy "the bast in class" hard shell jacket. Alpha SV resits wind very well. With 1-2 layers of light insulation it went really well even with -16C and wind of 100km/h... Things are changing after 2-3 years when it comes to the rain. After my previous bad experience, I was washing my new Alpha in hands using only Nikwax products (certified in EU for Gore cloths). After 30-40 days of use (during 3 years) and 2 hand washes my Alpha leaked spectacularly after max 3h of mid rain !!! I would love to get an info: "Dear Customer, its normal - it cannot survive more than ... days" or "don't wash it, even if it smells :)". Should I have a second one to use it only while raining ? This year I had used brand new Norvan as a back up during the rain and it worked. I cannot take the risk of being chilled out again... Please keep in mind - I am a supporter, even ambassador of Arcteryx ! It seems the it should be a new staff only...

I bought the Alpha SV around 8 years ago. I mainly use it for cycling and hiking and occasionally for climbing and skiing. It has performed reasonably, overall, but has several major material/design flaws that were not covered by warranty, which was disappointing. The seams began to delaminate within the first year of use around the hem, drawcord and cuffs and are almost completely detached now. I sent it to Arc'teryx for inspection last year and they told me the problem wasn't covered by warranty even though the jacket was otherwise in excellent condition. (They offered to repair it by stitching through the shell with the result that it would no longer be waterproof). My partner had similar issues with the Beta AR, including a split font zipper, which was not covered either. Arc'teryx describes their warranty as the "Practical Product Lifespan". This could be taken broadly but my experience suggests a conservative interpretation. In short, the high price, material/design flaws and limited warranty protection suggests poor value. I wouldn't recommend or buy it again.

I believed the Alpha SV was hand made in Canada. I am wondering why some new Alpha SV was manufactured in China where the quality is extremely poor and not worth the price! What is the reason for such a big company to sell a product that has been clearly repaired and pretend it is brand new! More important is they do not support the WARRANTY that your website is listed in Hong Kong. Don't you say the warranty is global and doesn't require an invoice? Is this the way you treat and lie to your customer?

I have bought this jacket for three years, seldom to wear on it and put it in closet often. I just discover that all the Nylon fabric peel off from Gore-Tex Fabric. I have not had this problem in my all outdoor jacket before. Honestly, I feel shame about this problem on this expensive jacket!!! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152550823132799 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152550823137799 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152550823147799
