Extremely durable jacket, which definitely can take a beating. It repels all rain and wind perfectly. Only con is that it can get a bit humid on the inside, when you are active. Especially when wearing a backpack or lots of equipment.

This jacket is amazing. For a shell, it's surprisingly warm, and I'm able to layer a Cerium SV Hoody (size M) with this jacket (Size S). I've been wearing this for winter activities, and I think it's worth every $.

I bought this jacket quite some years ago and it was everything I hoped it was and more. After just a few weeks I crashed quite hard on asphalt cause my steerpen of my bike broke. Just my luck I thought and the jacket will be damaged. Not so! Although my elbow was heavily bruised and was bleeding, the jacket didn't have any scratch. I checked it over and over, but nothing. The SV wasn't just a marketing name;). After about 2.5-3 years it started to fall apart though... Fitstly the plastic thing in the visir of the hood came out. A month or so later after a regular wash and low (like always) tumble dry treatment, the seams of the hinch cord came lose and exposed the cord. I mailed the shop where I bought it from online, but never a reply. Later I found out that they went bancrupt... I still use it on male weekends in the outdoors, but it doesn't look as slick and isn't as functional as it used to be. Perhaps I was just unlucky and overall it's a fantastic jacket!

i think behind a great product needs a great team and support. even though i have some durability issues with the lamination, the support is really backing up their products with warranty. First class. all i can say money well spent. Good Job Team Arcteryx.

This jacket is like an investition, well maybe not an investition but the investition. Personally I've been checking it for a long time, reading lots of reviews and trying to figure if the price is really worth for me. I own it only about half a year, but I'm already used to it. It's very comfortable, packs really small and it's quite light to carry it almost everywhere. I've done trip to Scotland where was heavy rain, hail or wind and I felt comfortable all the time. Ice climbing, mountaneering and trekking - all these activities are very comfortable with this jacket. Material used is almost bombproof and feels very solid. I bought Cayenne version which is really bright and recognizable from long distance, but that is exactly what I wanted when hiking in mountains. (And I have to say you really pop out on photos too ;-) ) I found only one minus on this shell - when raining really heavily for a long time the neck part around mouth gets wet. This could be matter of hood adjustements, but this already happened to me few times and I still haven't figured it out.

There are already hundreds of reviews on this jacket praising almost every aspect of this jacket. And I agree completely with them. The ONLY flaw with this jacket are the size of the pull tabs. For a severe weather jacket, which will mostly be used with gloves, the pull tabs on this jacket for hood adjustment, pit zips etc are just way too small. When it gets serious on the mountain and you have to make a quick descent, you don't want to fiddle around with your hood adjustments for 5 minutes and stop to cinch down your hood; you want to do that on the MOVE and not have to take your gloves off and risk frostbite. All in all, this is a superb jacket, but for the extreme conditions it is designed for, the pull tabs are just not up to the task. The safety gained from larger pull tabs far far outweighs the minimal weight they will add.

* I bought this for windproof and waterproof. I brought my jacket while I was in the cruise for traveling. Windproof is PERFECT! even the wind was strong. I have wore this jacket for 3 months. I haven't had a chance to test this jacket in heavy rain. But, I had a three times in drizzled day. At first, the jacket seems good for a few minutes, but waterproof doesn't work on Chest(wet easily[not inside, just outside]) and the other parts, too If you are looking for a waterproof jacket, then you should buy rain jacket. It's not specialized for waterproof as much as rain jacket. This jacket is for protecting a shower for a minutes I guess. Sorry for my bad English. Anyway. A everything is good!

This athletic fit waterproof shell is super durable and weather-proof. My only complaints are the adjustable elastic waist drawcord bunching up at the waist of the jacket and the oversized hood when a helmet isn't worn. Other than that, this jacket will withstand storms with its new Gore.

A really great and durable jacket, if it just wasn't for the way to roomy fit. I do completely understand it's made for layering. But I can wear very much in a smaller design. (It's actually many products of Arcteryx that have widened) The waterproofness is perfect, and I have had no issues with the zippers either. I worry about the glued seems, as they very often has to be repaired. I look farward to a new version of this jacket!

I took the plunge on this based on the performance of an old 3 layer. Unfortunately, I found the material to be so noisy that it turned me off right out of the bag.

I purchased my Alpha SV in the Boston area several years ago. I wore it as a casual jacket and never subjected it to alpine conditions. I suppose the most intense action it saw was going through the washing machine through the light cycle. I only hung it to dry. It never went through the dryer. Anyway after about five years of casual use and perhaps one wash too many, both cuffs unraveled and require some kind of repair. Arc'teryx did provide me with a return code, but after seeing other disappointed reviews I guess I won't send it. The jacket is not worth the price. I did however notice Arc'teryx seems to have changed the cuff design so buyers beware.

The jacket is great, however limited instructions for washing (which I followed) was provided with the jacket. The whole bottom elastic bands all broke apart after washing. After research I found the website that provides more detailed instructions for washing which would have saved my jacket. Acr-teryx - I hope you can provide detailed instructions with your jackets in the future so you don't have more customers who ruin your nice jackets and weary to purchase your products again.

All my gear below this awesome shell gets wet when I'm out. I know it is a mountaineering shell, but I use it for skiing and as my daily raincoat and commuter in Portland, OR. To be honest, this thing is bombproof, with two caveats: 1: No Powder skirt. Snow gets up under it and melts 2: Face guard is too tight by maybe a half inch. This causes zipper to unzip while using the jacket 3: General bombproofness of jacket is of no use if moisture breaches through gigantic holes at neck and hip areas Verdict: Add a skirt and jacket will be worth its considerable penny

Had this jacket a couple of years already, but felt I had to mention this, first of all great jacket, totally bombproof. The only issue i now have is that the drawstring seams on the bottom middle and cuffs have separated from the jacket. I have carefully followed arcteryx washing instructions to the letter as this as happened previously with another jacket.(Alpha comp hoody)Which arcteryx repaired F.O.C. The seams around the drawstrings and cuffs are different to the ones on the rest of the jacket by the look of it. I have other arcteryx gear which up to now has been fine, maybe I've just been unlucky.

This was a great piece of gear while it lasted. Superbly comfortable. I wore it on snowy and windy days while trekking the himalaya in -35C with a base and mid layer and it was perfect. Even on days with 80km/hr sustained wind gusts, I was pretty comfortable. Disappointingly, the laminated hems around the wrists and waist have come almost completely undone and are fraying despite having followed care instructions. I own quite a few Arc'teryx pieces and have come to expect a lot more than what I got with this jacket.

My Alpha jacket started delaminating few months ago, my first Arcteryx jacket to do so. I sent it for warranty, and the answer Arcteryx told me is that I contaminated the jacket with my sweat and for that reason it was not warranty. It was delaminating in 3 different places. They told me that I did not wash it enough, wich in fact I was washing every 3 to 5 uses.

I had this jacket for a year already. The material is great and keeps you warm but the design is very poor. The pockets are centered in the middle so if you were to put your hands inside, you'll have to cross your arms, which I find unpractical.

I've owned this jacket now for 2 years and have used it in all kinds of conditions. It is more durable than it looks, holding up against heavy bushwacking with no tearing. My issue is that it isn't at all waterproof. I make sure to take care of it as instructed, but it only lasts about 30 minutes of heavy rain before my clothes start getting wet. If I can't wear it longer than 30 minutes in heavy rain, than what's the point? I wish I'd returned it earlier. Now I own a VERY expensive jacket that I never want to wear.

Had this jacket strapped to a backpack and also connected the neck line loop with a locking carabiner to my backpack. Jacket went missing carabiner still connected to jacket loop . Lost forever. Almost got hypothermia. Probably should have never packed the jacket.

Til denne prisen sammenlignet med andre skalljakker p markedet, skulle man sett en klar forskjell i kvalitet og ''effekt'' i drlig vr. Det er min personlige erfaring at man overhodet ikke gjr
