I have tried other brands but always come back to this shoe for quality, fit and comfort. I don't run any more but this is an excellent walking shoe on both hard surfaces and rocky ones. On rocky trails I find that the rocks are absorbed due to the firm mid-sole. I wear them with a mid weight sock and they fit very well. A little pricey but knowing they fit and wear well makes it worth it to me.

Just got these to replace an identical pair my husband has been wearing for years with inside cushioning just starting to break down. He doesn't run, but does use a treadmill and active on weekends. 4E accommodates bunions. Looks like NB has replaced this shoe (yet again) with another, more expensive model. That's the only problem I have with NB - they keep "improving," i.e., making changes to justify increasing the price.

I did like these shoes, just not as much as the Brooks Beast 18. They fit like a glove but the arch support wasn't as good for my overpronation. But I'm considering getting them as a back up to my Brooks.

My 990v4's are SLO Perfect. I live on California's beautiful central coast in San Luis Obispo (SLO) County. I walk streets, trails, and the beach often. I walk 5 -7 days per week. At the age of 72 my feet require a perfect fit, support, and soles that will last. I have been wearing New Balance regularly for the last 15 years. I can't imagine wearing any other brand.

The classic and great fitting New Balance shoe. I am amazed at the comfort in these shoes that I have two pairs. I walk a lot, and started to see some wear (smoothing) on the bottom treads after 2 months, but expect it will last me 8 months to a year. Regarding the color: Covert Green/Covert Green - are a bit more green in person than they appear in the pictures online, but it doesn't appear Zappos has that color in stock anymore.

I bought them on sale. I still found the 990s for $40 less on another online site. I bought them too. I love this sneaker it's the only one ill wear. With neck & back injuries & Planters facitous , I get relief wearing them. Made in USA

Very well crafted shoes! Feel much more sturdy then a pair of Nike's they are replacing. Made in USA was definitely a selling point! The styling isn't exactly cutting edge, but that's kinda nice in a way. Good solid pair of running shoes!

These shoes are made with premium materials! (with that said a lot of them feature suede, which I love, but you need to be careful with suede during wet weather). The perfect blend of comfort and support in a shoe that you just want to put back on over and over again. The colorways are always sharp and I love the reflective pieces that are all over the shoe. One of my top choices in my shoe rotation! Also, the made in the USA component for this shoe is wonderful. This shoe really won me over as one of my favorites!
