Great shoe! Runs a tad small. The color combo is perfect!

wish they made them in 2E, the standard width only comes in the classic gray. The classic shoe is phenomenal, only problem is width's

The M990v3 was the best. or M990SG3 I'd purchase a dozen if they were available.

I bought these shoes because they are made in the USA, but the shoes are about three times the price of their foreign made shoes. When I received the shoes they had sub standard laces that will need to be replaced.

Bought these shoes to wear for comfort during a trip to Europe. Within the first couple of wearing days, the sole peeled away at the toe. Pretty expensive shoes to be falling apart so quickly. They will be returned.

I have been wearing new balance shoes for nearly 20 years. The 993 was my favorite. I wear a 13 4E. New balance has redesigned their shoes and they are now more narrow than they used to be. The redesigned 990 v4 (the replacement for the 993) in a 13 4E hurt my feet, it was so narrow. I've been a loyal customer for many years and it pains me to go somewhere else.

I tried on 6 or 7 pairs of wide NBs at my local dealer back in May and thought I found the best pair with the 990v4. My activity level is light to moderate walking, including commuting. I've worn them just about every day since buying in May, and about two weeks ago, the support just went away. My knees hurt every day, and occasionally my right foot as well. The soles are pretty well worn, worn more than I expected for a shoe at this price level and not being an avid runner or anything. I can't recommend these for the price and am very disappointed in the brand.

this shoe feels just like the #623.
CON: not enough support/cushion/padding under the ball of foot to toes! if your going to walk on hard surface think twice!
didn't mind paying the money but NB needs to pad/cushion the front of there shoes more.

I used to wear NB exclusively, but I feel their quality has diminished over the years. After receiving my shoes and wearing them for a couple of weeks, they still make mt feet hurt. I wish I had stayed with a different brand, but Ivwanted to give NB another try. I will not buy another pair. The support is not comparable to their competitors.

I've been buying New Balance shoes for decades. The reasons: 1) I have a very wide foot and 2) they are made in America. The 990s are not as cushioned as thy used to be. Even more annoying, in the manufacturing process, they leave the inside of the sole a little bumpy near the base of the big and little toes. It seems to be isolated to the left foot. Less padding... bumpy ride... bring back the original 990. I also have purchased more high-end NB shoes, also disappointed with them a little. Having said all of this, I will continue to purchase NB shoes as they still fit my boats the best.

I have two pair of NB shoes that I love and fit great. These were ones I had been looking at for a month and finally purchased. They ran smaller than my other two shoes and I was disappointed in the quality. Still love NB shoes. Maybe I just got a bad pair.

I have happily worn the NB 990 series for over a decade. It was the only running shoe that provided the fit for my oddly shaped feet. The rounded toe box was perfect. That's no longer true. Somewhere in its evolution, the design changed and I noticed my feet were not happy. The toe box has narrowed and is no longer the rounded shape that provided the room and comfort I needed. I can't wear these any more and am looking now for a shoe with a more rounded and ample toe box.

I have not been happy with these shoes.. They are not as comfortable as I thought they would be. I ave other pairs of shoes that are more comfortable to wear.

This is actually my second pair of 990s, the last one being v3 in size 11 4e. I stopped wearing those shoes because the top of the arch falls behind the top of my feet arches, and the shoes cramped the 5th toe on both feet.
Since New Balance advises their shoes go wider with each half-size up, a salesman (at a different store) suggested trying 11.5. At first they seemed okay, if a little long, with a slightly better fit in the arch, but also cramp my 5th. I'm past the point of returning them (they need to be in new condition) so I looked into having them stretched at the problem area, but two different shoe repairmen advised that the mesh/material under the suede will keep the stretch from working.
NOTE: I have since looked at the 990 in 6e width, but it doesn't help. It seems that 6e isn't wider than 4e, it just has a little more volume, and not where I need it.
As I noted in my title above, it may be that my feet are just odd, so your mileage may vary. But the 990 doesn't work for me.

Really like these shoes and have bought multiple pairs but the glue holding the sole has not held on my last 2 pairs. This isn't like a month of use issue, fresh from the box after a bit of walking.

Lots of ankle pain wearing this pair of shoes. Bought three different types of New Balance within a week and narrowed down this pair as the problem. Sorry.

I've worn v3 and v4 for years, so last Nov (2018) when I replaced my v4's, I was expecting the same quality shoe. I was not ready for the deep drop in the quality these v4's! I walk half an hour daily (about 1.6 miles) on pavement, and after only one month the outer backs of the soles were completely worn off! All the black was gone and the under layer started to wear down also. I have v3's that I wore for over a year that are not as worn as these new shoes were.
You've lost a long time customer due to the drop in overall quality in your supposedly quality shoe. I've been gluing a pair of Guardian rubber taps on once a month just to be able to use the shoes. Shame on you.
Disappointed,
