I normally buy ASICS but they have changed so much I decided to try something else. I ordered these in a size 10 which is what I have been ordering in most shoes. All my life I had worn an 8 1/2 E until about 15 years ago when all of a sudden I was in larger sizes. However my feet did not grow, the sizes have shrunk. Okay, just a humorous aside. Now, I returned the 10 for a 9 1/2 4E which was a perfect and wonderful fit. I I recommend that others get a 1/2 size smaller than they normally order in other brands. It is a great shoe, I would buy it again hoping there were no basic changes, and highly recommend it.

I’ve lost count of how many new balance 990’s I’ve had in my 61 years on the planet. This version is 990V4. I think the first ones I bought, when I was still a puppy, were 992’s. But same deal; new balance top of the line. They are worth the high price. You get what you pay for. These are the most comfortable things I’ve ever had on my feet. Zappos is pretty amazing; received them the next day! Not going to wear them for awhile. Just going to look at them.

FOr me, this is the best shoe on the market. Top quality, good fit and just the right amount of cushioning. I wear it as my everyday shoe. Simply the best.

I have been buying my shoes at Zappo's for over 20 years and have only been disappointed once,m but Zappo's corrected MY mistake quickly. This last purchase of these shoes made me want to buy 2 more pairs immediately. II have bad feet: no fat pads on my soles, flat feet, pronation, etc. These shoes are so comfortable, I wore them for 48 straight hours right out to the box. Best company on the internet with whom to conduct business.

I bought these for my husband. He absolutely loves them! Very comfortable right out of the box. He usually wears a M but I ordered the Wide and he says it give him more room in the toebox, which he likes.

Dad shoes are back!

First, a comment on the quality: Incredibly nice shoes. The shock absorption has a nice profile of give and rebound. The grip is excellent. The venting is excellent. The eyelets are strong. There are adequate-but-not-excessive reflector strips. The suede adds the appropriate amount of structure. The laces will probably need to be replaced frequently - they are "standard" thin cotton - not an issue. Next, a comment on sizing: You should be very cautious when sizing these shoes. I have worn various New Balance Trail Running shoes for years. These shoes appear to be standard sizing when walking casually on carpet, but the way they flex and stretch under pressure makes them behave as though they were much larger. Coupled with the smooth venting interior this is leading to quite a bit of internal foot movement, especially on hills. The suede will also stretch over time and use (the mesh not nearly as much). I suggest ordering down 1/2 to a full size, and making sure they are just shy of uncomfortably snug on your foot. I've been ordering shoes from Zappos for 19 years now. What a terrific company.

The 990v4 is the most comfortable shoe ever. Have lots of new colors now.
