I am in the same camp of those who loves their original Apex jacket. I have a black on that I've worn on numerous backpacking trips in California (nothing too cold). I wear it casually as well and it still holds up pretty well even after a decade. I really wanted to like the new version. I think the jacket is definitely more stylish and form fitting, however, the material is much stiffer. I like that it is longer, but the sleeves are way too long, and just based on that I really wanted to return the jacket but eventually kept it since the body fitting was nice enough. The logo is not embroidered so that was also a downgrade. The dark gray is a really nice but the logo cannot be seem bc it's also gray. Overall, it's just an ok jacket. I really think this should be a completely different jacket instead of calling it an Apex version 2.

Fit & craftsmanship are very good. I have several NF pieces and love all except for this updated version. I was going to return, but I have decided to keep around as extra jacket. Although it keeps you warm, fabric is heavy and too stiff. Doesn't give like the previous version to make it comfortable.

Hard to find this in a store

Purchased jacket in gray and was hoping to love it. However, I was disappointed in the fabric. It was extremely stiff, to the point I couldn't get the collar to pop down. It's a good looking jacket but I will have to return. Size up as it runs small.

Fit great, inside lining was super soft and warm. Totally waterproof/windproof. Too bad the zipper completely broke after only 2 months of wearing it and washing it once.

Like many people said, this jacket is too stiff. The collar sticks straight up and it's too loose around the shoulders. Sleeves are too long though I'm ok with that. Will be returning.

Great looking jacket, but oddly sized and on the stiff side. I ordered a small and it fit well thru the torso, but too tight in the shoulders and the arms were oversized. It’s like it’s made for a stick figure with giant arms. Sleeve length was good.

I'm 5'4" typically a size 6. This jacket ran big and still felt restrictive. I just purchased a few other cold gear items from North Face that fit much better so I will be returning this jacket.

Good jacket that I bought for my wife but she said it was too stiff and restricted her movement. Returned and bought her another The North Face jacket.

This jacket was ok, not great. It does fit ok (although does run very small, definitely order up a size) and was flattering on, which is why I kept it. However, the material is not comfortable, it makes a lot of noise and doesn't really move with you, very stiff. Not that warm either. About all I can say for it is that it looks really good on.

The jacket was overall too loose on me so I returned it. Great color, nice style, good fabric.

Purchased for my daughter on line. It is very stylish but this is a jacket that should be tried on prior to purchase. It runs large and is stiff. I ended up returning it, which may I add was quick and easy.

When I put in my 5'2" and 115 lbs they said I was a medium. I ordered a small because I knew better. At 5'2" I know I am a petite, but the arms are very long and the torso is also. I will keep the jacket because it works for from the car to work, but it is not what I intended it for. I do not get ease of movement in it.

Nice look although I'm usually a size small it fit larger.

I was a little disappointed in the way it felt. It was stiff and a little big so it bothered my neck. I returned the jacket.

I honestly think it's cute. It feels comfortable and all. I'm 5'0" and 108 pounds. This jacket feels to big for me even though I got an extra small.

It runs small so I had to return it. I have the older model and love it. The only thing is that I wish both had inside pockets.

Cute midweight jacket, but very stiff. I wanted something to take on a trip, so I could throw it on in the evening, but keep it in my bag the rest of the day. Since it was stiff, it would have taken up more room in my bag and it wasn't cozy enough for what I wanted so I sent it back. However, I suspect that it would keep a crisp line and help you avoid looking like it had been in a bag all day.

It's been years since I bought a new North Face. While the quality is still superior, this size of this jacket is awkward on me. The jacket fits just right around my hips, but is too big in the rest of the jacket. Being 5'2", it's always hard finding a jacket that isn't too long, and unfortunately, this one is especially too long on my arms. That makes me feel awkward and a bit manly. Unless I missed it, I wish these jackets came in petite sizes. Good jacket though.

This looks like a well made coat when I received it in the mail. It seemed quite warm when I put it on as there was a very thin fleece layer on the inside of the coat. I owned and wore the previous version of this coat for probably close to 10 years, but I needed another one as it was starting to get worn. The proportions were very different than the previous version. This coat was too tight in the waist and sleeves and the arms were too long (past my fingertips) which prevented me from sizing up. I am an average size (weight & height) woman and this coat seemed to be made for a tall skinny woman. I was very disappointed and had to return the coat and buy a Patagonia coat which fit better.

The coat is great but the sizes run small I got a 2X and I wear a 1x in coats and the 2X was still to small.

Loved the navy color of the jacket! Runs a bit smaller then my other north face or under armor jackets, 5'6 200lbs.

Its ok of a jacket purchased one for me and another for my daughter. I find its is light weight, but would have prefered it had a softer shell.

I wanted to keep this jacket but it was extremely small and too restrictive. I am a 5 ft 2 in. 112lb women with a small frame. I sent it back and requested to exchange for a medium but apparently they don't make exchanges. I ordered this when there was a sale and now there isn't one. Wish I could have gotten an exchange.
