Too bad that the Jet is discontinued item. This is a very nice Backpack. I like how the designer thought of having a small cover for the zipper to tuck into. Very nicely made. I have not used it yet, but I really like that I can just bring one bag for work overnight trips and fit clothes, laptop, Ipad, binder and everything that I would need. If it had an exterior bottle pocket that would be awesome. The bottle opener is a nice touch as part of the Timbuk2 loggo on the bag. I would suggest to have a small slit/cut on the covered part of the bottle opener so it has that option to be removed by the user. I will do it on mine. I occasionally drink bottled beer, but I would rather keep the bottle opener in one of the pockets inside. I like that it has a lifetime warranty.

I travel for work and go through the airport roughly 6 times per month. I've been using this bag for a year now and have been highly satisfied. Despite constant use and abuse my bag shows little sign of wear. Storage keeps contents well organized and bag fits well in overhead storage as well as under the seats.

As other reviews have said this bag qualifies as a "free personal item" on discount airlines such as Frontier and Spirit. True it is 18.9 inches instead of the 18 in. limit but unless you are carrying something rigid it will easily compress 0.9 inches to fit into the "personal item" template. I have already used it a couple of times and it fits perfectly lengthwise under the 18 in. seats. It has a surprisingly large interior volume and I have found that I can get everything I need for a 2-3 day+ weekend trip in this bag. I will be using this as a weekend bag even when not traveling on luggage restricted airlines. This bag seems to be buried on the Timbuk2 website and doesn't come up when you search under "Travel/Underseat" even though it seems to be perfectly designed for that function. I'm glad I stumbled on to it while it was on sale.

I was hoping to find a clamshell backpack that would work for underseat storage. This on seems perfect. With all the new luggage restrictions on airline travel, it's hard to keep up with latest guidelines. At least for now, the jet backpack is my go to bag for spirit, frontier, and now even united. Thanks Timbuk2!

I ordered do many bags for my 2 months around the workd trip. It performed flawlessly. At first I was really disappointed it didn't have a waist belt but in the end the length is too short for one anyway. I'm 5'7". Love the mesh divider. Whole in vietnam I had the straps modified to be removed in case I had yo check it which add o far I haven't. No bag is perfect t but this is close. To be perfect I would like to see detachable shoulder straps, better chest strap that attaches to webbing, opening like a book versus long ways and outside pocket zippers traveling further to expose all the interior organization pockets and an internal suspension system in the laptop pouch to protect the laptop from bottom and side impacts. If I could post pics I would upload the detachable strap modification.

Since I became a industrial/ designer I was struggling with a 'professional deformation', so I couldn't neither look nor even buy bags of some other brands. Once I started to doubt in my normality concerning world of things and I decided to overcome myself by buying one. The choice fell on JET Laptop backpack in Surplus color and I have to say it made me feel happy and serene simultaneously. What a great piece of sewing, usability engineering and assembling itself! I am double happy to know that I'll be having a trip to Rome with this just one pack and all my stuff inside. Thank you a lot TB2 team for the 'therapy')

I bought this bag because I was sick of trying to bring roller bags onto the subway or having my bag get checked at the gate when overhead bin storage became an issue. I had been using a traditional backpack for a couple of trips but quickly became frustrated with the fact that if there was something at the bottom of the bag that I needed that everything would have to come out. Was especially frustrating before I got packing cubes but even with the cubes it wasn't great. Cue this backpack. It's perfect and sleek and didn't jut out nearly as much as the traditional backpack even though it had more stuff in it. The dedicated laptop area was great so I didn't have to open up my entire bag to pull it out. I spent weeks agonizing over which travel backpack was the best and I'm pretty sure I landed on the perfect one! The only downfall is that there's no place to store a cup or water bottle and the bag doesn't have much give to try to shove one in the outer compartment, but it's so perfect otherwise that it's honestly not really noticeable day-to-day. If you load it with a lot it can get quite heavy but still was way more manageable than a roller bag - especially up stairs and to load into overhead bins. If this came in larger sizes beyond weekend use, I would buy those as well. I've always been a Tinbuk2 fan starting in high school with their messenger bags but this is probably my favorite piece of luggage that I own and I know I'll use it constantly for years to come.

This bag is exactly what I was looking for and a great size for 3-5 days trip. I am only 5' but the bag does not feel overly big yet it can hold a great amount of clothes and accessories. I'm not as savy as some folks on here so more than 5 days would be tough but I've packed for 2 people in this bag on a weekender without any trouble. It wasn't on my wishlist initially, but a water bottle sleeve would have been a great addition. I purchased the black bag and it does scuff a little easier than I had hoped showing some white-ish marks on the front after only 3 trips. Still not deal breakers for me as it is so functional and at a great price.

I had pretty high expectations for this bag and honestly, the Jet backpack has exceeded them. Aside from having incredible functionality with pockets, clamshell opening and the laptop pocket, it's super comfortable and easy to move around with. I managed to pass it off as a personal item (even on European airlines!) but this bag has the capacity of a carry-on. I easily fit enough clothes and toiletries for 2 weeks (15 outfits + shoes) and you can maximize its functionality with a couple of packing cubes. Oh, and it looks quite trendy and stylish you won't look like one of those crunchy backpackers! Overall a great buy and it was an incredible steal at this sale price (I'd be prepared to pay over $200 for it).

This pack very comfortably carried everything I needed for a 12 day trip to Morocco, That included insulated gear needed for cooler temperatures in the mountains. It fit easily under the seat in front of me on all the planes I've flown including a commuter jet. The shoulder straps are well padded and the pack was comfortable with loads of up to 20 pounds. Laptop sleeve is ideally placed close to the bag and also works well for document folders. Additional pockets and sleeves provide good organization though I would have like to see some loops or hooks for attaching keys or other items. The pack is durable with no obvious signs of wear and tear. Highly recommended.

I bought this bag a month before a long weekend trip to Medellin, Colombia. I didn't want to check in my bag. I pick the color in Merlot. The color isn't a bright red but more on a matte red wine. I'm 5'4 and didn't find the bag too big. It fits right for my size. I used this bag for a 4 day trip two weeks ago and I can see myself using for longer trips. I didn't find an issue of not having a bottle holder on the side. Overall, I'm quite satisfied and happy with this bag. If your not an over-packer and pack what you only need then this is the bag for you.

This is my 2nd Timbuk2 bag and I really love it. I carry my laptop, water bottle, notebooks, etc, back and forth to home, and between our office buildings, every day. For that, this pack works great as a daily backpack. But it's much better than a regular backpack in that it's styled simply and elegantly, while still being rugged, water resistant, and pretty much stain proof. The bag has a clamshell pocket designed for all your clothes and stuff you'd need for those quick turnaround business trips I do very frequently. I can fit an extra pair of shoes (usually for a workout or walk around wherever I am), plus a t shirt, shorts, and a full business appropriate outfit for day 2. For quick trips I take this one bag as it holds all my daily work stuff, plus enough clothes for a few days. I'd feel lost without this pack!!!

I bought this backpack for weekend trips and it proved to be the perfect bag for the occasion. Used it as a personal item on the airplane and had enough clothes for 5 days, even though we only went for two. Highly recommend this to anyone who likes to take little trips around!

I just bought this bag and am looking forward to taking it to Vancouver later this month. I was absolutely tickled when I saw it, and it checked all of the boxes for me except perhaps two. 1) it would be great if the backpack straps could be zipped into the bag like my MLC and 2) I would love to have a slot on the back to put it over the handle on a larger rolling bag. Add those and you have perfection!

This backpack is just the right size to carry my binder, which wouldn't fit in my smaller backpack. It feels lightweight. Since I am petite, the bag feels a little big on my back. But, if you're a taller person, it would probably fit you better.

Perfect for overnight or long weekend trips. Great as a carry-on for plane travel. Fits perfectly under the seat of a plane. Lots of pockets for easy organization. I can get to things much quicker without rummaging through the bottom of the bag. Helps makes getting through airport security faster. Waterproof in rain, but probably not a downpour. It's is a bit bulky. I am petite (5'0"), so I won't be using it for everyday commuting. I love this bag nonetheless!

Excactly the backpack I was looking for. I usually travel for 2-4 days across Europe and the bag is perfect for that purpose. It fits more stuff than you would initially excpect and looks very stylish. It also can be used for getting from the hotel to meetings during your stays without looking wrong. Material is good, zippers are not as easy going as I would like it, but no problem. Another slight shortcoming is that the laptop department is not that well padded on the bottom.

I am a frequent traveler, often from Australia to SE Asia. This is all I need for a short trip but also great as a carry on for those long haul flights when you need lots of stuff. Also I'm not very tall and the Jet is not too bulky.

I am neither a pack horse nor minimalist and I can use this bag for about a week's worth of travel. I'll include shirts for each day and about 3 or four pairs of pants without the bag becoming too heavy. At first I thought the top part of the clamshell was kind of strange and a waste of space since it's so thin but now I love it. I place tops and bottoms in the larger section of the clamshell and underwear, cables/accessories, small toiletry bag, snacks, etc. in the top and everything fits perfectly. The laptop storage is well padded and and adds comfort. I only take a laptop when I travel for business; thus far, I've only taken this bag on personal trips where I take a tablet only. Regardless, I didn't have any concerns that it would be damaged. I purchased the Storm about four months prior to this review and am happy to see they're adding new colors (I assume it means the bag won't be discontinued). I prefer small carry-ons with no wheels so I don't have to depend on my airline status (or being early :-)) to find space on the airplane. To that end, I've tried many other bags (including Timbuk2) and this is by far my favorite. It's easy to pack, retrieve items from, and doesn't become uncomfortable no matter how long I walk around with it. I've taken it on a handful of trips prior to this review and my only remaining question will be how it holds up over the next several years. Thus far I've not had issues with Timbuk2 products in that regard.

I have sleep apnea, and I need to bring my CPAP machine along when I travel. I also have to carry it on flights, so it doesn't get damaged when I travel. I needed a bag to put my CPAP equipment in that would UNQUESTIONABLY pass as a carry-on, still fit my CPAP stuff in it, AND allow me to carry more than just the CPAP things. This bag is EXACTLY what I needed. I can fit all that stuff, plus toiletries, at least 1 change of clothes, a tablet, and MAYBE my laptop (we'll see). There are lots of compartments and ways to store all my things; if I can manage to fit *all* my stuff for a trip in this bag, I sure will!

I travel for business frequently and hate to check a bag or deal with lack of space for my roller bag. The Jet Laptop bag held 5 days' worth of clothes, an extra pair of shoes, toiletries, a laptop, a Windows Surface and all the related chargers and accessories. And it is still compact enough to find a spot in the overhead or inder the seat.
