Reminds me of '60s canvas fishing shoes boat captains used....but much more stylish and too nice for fishing. Very comfortable, easy cleanup with soap and soft brush. Use different color strings to add some pop.

As I am getting older, I am realizing that sandals are not always appropriate footwear in the summer. I wanted a boat shoe that was durable and could breath to prevent my feet from sweating. Now that I have these shoes, I can wear them with kakis, shorts or jeans of any color.

Shoe feels true to size and I have received many good compliments on the look. Goes great with jeans and casual wear.

Thought it was a different design than I wanted, but for on sale price I will keep. No issue with quality, just different

Comfortable on flat ground. Sole is too thin to withstand ground imperfections (small rocks, winter salt, etc. ) Laces are very rough, difficult to loosen/tighten due to material and shape. Shoe material is damaged by nearly any contact but looks nice.

I have a different color of the same shoe, which fits perfectly, but this one didn't fit me well. I am considering g returning them.

These are the third pair of McGuffey plain toes I've purchased. The first tail are older (brown and black). I bought a new brown pair as my older brown pair are wearing out after 8 years. The new shoes look great. However, although they're the same exact size as my older pair 10 1/2 M), they are much more narrow and hurt my feet. Unfortunately, I assumed they would stretch out with more wear, but that is not happening. I have resorted to wearing my work out Older McGuffeys while I look for a new replacement.

Shoes look nice but a couple considerations. #1) The sole inserts have a plastic/rubber bottom that rubs against the bottom of the shoe with same type of material.... so it squeaks a bit when walking. #2) yes, they are water proof but they have the comfort and feel of a rubber boot.

Great service at your Pearl, MS location. I unfortunately couldn't get the exact shoes I originally ordered from the website (McGuffey). But a couple of the associates kindly assisted me in finding another pair that was a similar style and very comfortable. Very pleased with their customer service.

The shoe was to narrow and the toe box to small, I wish it was a good fit.

Drives me crazy on linoleum flooring, squeaky. It's embarrassing at work.

I have a pair of McGuffey Plain Toes that is close to ten years old. The most versatile and comfortable shoes I have owned. I wanted to replace with a new pair but you no longer carry the color I like. I don't remember the name of the color but is between a grey and tan. Let me know if you ever decide to bring back that color. I would buy two pairs.

Color not as described. Style and craftsmanship were very good. I Usually wear a 9W but in McGuffies 9W is too big , so I tried a 81/2 W which is the right length but still too wide. I'm giving up on McGuffies . I'll try another style and see if I can get grey

Not the most comfortable shoe. I have narrow feet and this shoe seems very narrow. After first wear they appear worn. I don't have much faith these will last.

This shoe looks and feels great. However, I have only worn these for ~7 days and the soles are already showing wear and peeling in the back.

It was basically perfect, but the inner sole wasn't aligned and incredibly uncomfortable. After wearing them for around 30 days the sole came off.

This shoe is very comfortable and it looks great. Unfortunately, the stitched molding around the upper immediately separated at the crease when I started wearing the shoe. My shoes look shabby because of it. I'm not sure if this was a one-show defect, or a systematic problem.

I have bought this shoe now 4 times. The first two lasted me about 1.5 years each with almost everyday use. The third pair started to separate a lot where the upper meets those threads at the level of the balls of my feet on both shoes. I chalked it up to a bad batch. By the way, those threads are fake. The upper is only glued, not sewn. I just bought the shoes a couple of days ago, walked about 4 miles and there was separation at 4 spots. I went back to the shoe store. They said that I should call the company. I called J&M and they said that they have never heard of this problem with the McGuffey's. Well, I guess they don't require their people to read the reviews here where two people mentioned the same problem. They told me to go back to the store and return them. J&M told me that if I have any issues returning them at the store, they will send me another pair or a voucher.

This was my second pair of these shoes, the first pair lasted me a long time which is why I decided to buy them again. Unfortunately they either changed vendors of their quality control is lacking. This latest pair is separating from the leather to the sole, seams the stitching is inferior or not adequate. Very disappointing as I was hoping these shoes would last as long as the previous pair.
