I really like the shoes. My first pair, for I usually wear Brooks Glycerin running shoes to walk in. But in the inclement weather with snow, slush and rain... these are great. I just lace them up and comfortably walk 6-7 miles most days of the week. I was a bit surprised due to the fact I saw a lot of the responses had to do with hiking. I applied mine to walking in the suburbs and on asphalt and they are great.

I dig these things. I pestered my wife to buy me these for Christmas so I wouldn't get into trouble for buying myself another pair of shoes. I'm a dude who likes shoes, ok? Anyway, Santa Bride had these under our tree, and ho ho ho was I happy! These things look and feel amazing! Gore-Tex works as intended, as always. It was a snowy Christmas here in the PNW and these beasts stomped and chewed up the snow and earth with no problems. I even pushed my old man's stuck car out of the snow with these on. All the muck and moisture just fell off. Couldn't be happier!

I just finished the JMT for the second time in 12 months. I used Hedgehogs last year and decided on using my UFP this year. The boots did really well, only problem was a delamination on the left boot of about 1.5 inches long and 1/8 inches deep between the midsole and the top. This happened at around 100 mikes into the trip and stabilized without getting any bigger. Considering the torture the boots got and this is the only negative issue I gave them 5 stars. This year I hiked the trail in 14 consecutive days covering an average of 15 miles per day without any "zero" days. My smallest day was 12 miles and the longest one was 19. The only time I had any issue with hot spots or blisters was in the last mile descending Mt. Whitney trail to Whitney portal. I got a slight hot spot on my left big toe otherwise throughout the entire trip not one blister or hotspot. Also the boots did a great job of keeping small rocks, gravel and sand out. I did use Smartwool liner socks, Darn tuff socks and Superfeet insoles these undoubtedly helped me not have any issues with my feet.

I was in the market for ankle high waterproof LIGHTWEIGHT boots for backpacking and hiking. Something with slightly more structure than lightweight running shoes to handle rocky environments. I tried many boots in multiple stores and ultimately settled on the Fastback IIs . They were definitely heavier and sturdier than my worn out and loved Go-Lite boots (no longer in production). Yet they were as light as anything on the market and well, just fit me best. They did not require much break-in at all. I went on a 9 mile hike in them after only a couple short around house sessions and have never had any irritation at all. Been on a few backpacks trips and they have been great. You necessarily sacrifice some breathability for the waterproof membrane, however for my overall use a lightweight Goretex boot keeps me most comfortable most of the time. If money were no option I'd have a second similar boot without waterproofing for dry mid summer environments. I was concerned the sole was too infexible (even though it is the most flexible one in this class) as I tend to minimalist shoes. I've found the sole offering better protection in those Sierra sharp rock environs than my Go-Lites and comfortable as one can be at the end of a long hike or backpack or weedwacking session.

Great product, wear daily for work where I do a lot of hiking. Very comfortable and tall upper provides great support. Took some breaking in but once broken in feels great

I have been using these for all kind of outdoor activities. They are completely waterproof, period. I use them for hiking, for casual use on rainy days. I have also used them in heavy snow. These shoes kept my feet completely dry, they got cold though. With a pair of foot warmers, these served well in heavy snow as well. All in all , these are awesome pair of shoes for outdoor activities. Only thing that remains to be tested is how long these last.

I bought these for wearing at work. I manage an auto detail department and spend most of my day on my feet. I am constantly going from inside to outside and back again. These boots are comfortable and perfect for the ever changing Michigan weather.

I use this show for everyday use at work and for leisure. The boots are very useful given the nature of my job, where I'm outside often and walks around rural areas are necessary. I also use these boots for urban hiking not just mountain hiking. The style of the boots are pretty compatible with mine and can definitely be used in a social setting. This is my first pair of north face shoes and I must say I'm very satisfied. They feel secure, comfortable and look awesome at the same time.

I am big guy and these shoes feel amazing. I can stay on my feet for 14 hours and feel great. This is my 5th north Face ultra Fastpack pair. I owned 4 of the first generation this is my first 2nd Generation. And I have to say it is way better. I love the original but this model improves so much. I wear this pair of shoes to work, daily. The grip of the sole is something I had never imagined, I can walk on very slick surfaces and slanted angles.

Love these boots so far. Do not feel heavy or bulky but still provide enough protection where I don't feel every single root or rock that I climb over. Took them out in pretty wet /muddy conditions and kept my feet dry.

These boots are amazing. They are comfortable and can handle any terrain I throw at them. In my micro class I spilled a stain on the toe but it just wiped right off thanks to the Gore-Tex. On the trail the soles are sturdy and knobby which allows me to hike over and through pretty much every environment nature can throw at me with these on!

I used these boots to hike through the rocky mountains and they kept my feet warm through the snow and gave me great traction on all surfaces. The Gore-Tex kept my feet very dry. Would recommend for any level of hiking.

This product is well made and perfect for easy-difficult hikes. Not good for climbing but work well for scrambling rock to rock. I love these and I especially love that they have a lifetime gaurantee that if sow thing happens, they will be replaced at no expense!

These boots feel great right out of the box. When looking for a new hiking boot, Gore-tex was a requirement. I spend a week fishing in the Canadian wilderness every year, and Gore-tex is the only system that consistently and reliably keeps water out of my clothes. The vibram sole on these also allows me to be surefooted, even in wet conditions. I am not keen on the green or blue color choices, but I think the grey/yellow and black are pretty good. Overall, these are great boots that are lightweight, comfortable and will keep you dry.

These boots were a shock. I have wide feet and most shoes don't feel comfortable at all. Long wear in process. These feel like I'm wearing slippers. I was blown away at how they fit. They are not tight on my feet at all. I wish I had a blue pair.

I backpack quite a bit in the Sierra Nevada Lake Tahoe area. No matter the conditions, these are the shoes I would recommend. With a waterproof system, Vibram sole, I can take on boulders, or go through any creeks, and I don't have to compromise safety. With TNF's warranty, equipment becomes an afterthought and I can focus on what matters... nature!

I used these on the upper Yosemite falls trail. These shoes are very comfortable ! They provide a good grip on the trials. I never had any issues slipping even though there were some wet rock areas. The waterproof gore Tex works really well. There was a few areas with streams crossing through the trials. Walked through the water with at least half the shoe submerged and no water came in. After a long day of hiking my feet felt good. I would recommend these for anyone looking for a lightweight, comfortable and good hiking shoe.
