Used twice so far for beginner mountaineering trips and I love them. Only had to wear one pair (I've been told a lot of people wear double socks) I do wear insulated mountaineering boots though so I'm sure that helps. But my feet stay dry and they're very comfy!

I enjoy the comfort of these socks hiking and everyday use in my boots.

So I bought my first two pairs of these about 25 years ago, and yes, I still have them. Bought them for a mountaineering trip specifically and hiking in general and they were perfect, have been all over the world and have been my go to WARMest socks for all these years but they had finally gotten holed out beyond my fixing them (I have that longer second toe which is persistent;-P) Recently I figured out I'd check Smartwool to see if they had anything similar, and lo and behold, there they were. EXACT same socks.... Now how often does THAT Happen, right? Mind you they are so fabulously cushy that I'm gonna have to wear them around as slippers for a while before they settle down enough to go into my boots because I now wear boots closer to the size of my feet;-) Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Wear these for cold weather bike riding and hanging around the house. Not so thick that I can't get my shoesnover them.

I pair these with another pair of Smartwool socks and they somehow keep my feet the perfect temperature and blister-free year round. These may be my favorite socks ever with their extreme cushion and durability. They are my go-to socks anytime I am in the field, especially working on wildfires. Well worth the price!!

They are warm & comfortable, but overpriced

My feet couldn't be happier! For three seasons of the year my feet WERE always cold - no longer. I plan to buy many more pairs of these socks, now I've trialed them. So glad I stumbled on this site.

These socks are great. They keep my feet warm with only a thin sock underneath. Before I was wearing 3-4 socks. The sale price and no shipping costs also helped! After 3 weeks, I am wearing them out some. Might have to get another pair.

These are warm and fluffy and give me good separation from my cold tile floor. They are a little looser fit but I'm wearing them as slippers so don't know how this would affect wearing inside shoes. The bands around the arch and ankle keep them from moving around too much when walking. I'm a disappointed I waited so long to try these because now the pink are sold out! The taupe was the perfect neutral to match my PJ's, lol. I did order two more pair in purple to get me through the winter. Please make more.

Got these for my river days in winter. Wear them inside a dry suit. Great for keeping the toes dry from sweat and warm from absolutely FREEZING water.

Very warm and comfy.

I've had a pair of these for many years that were finally worn out. The new ones are super cushy and perfect for wearing with my Muck boots. I'm a HUGE fan of Smartwool products and have been using them for years.

I wear these around the house mostly. They're too thick for most of my boots but they'd be great for any cold weather activity I'd think. BUT they are sooooo warm and comfortable I can't wait to put them on every day when I get home! The perfect mix of softness and structure somehow. I LOVE THESE SOCKS!!

Bought another style many years ago when lived in north and never found another brand that compared so i looked at the toes reading Smartwool and found them again. Only reason after a decade that i needed new is i hung them too close 2 fire and the toe caught fire!

I purchased two pair two years ago to use them as slippers. One pair is still wearable, one of the other pair wore through the heel. I just bought 2 more pairs, I'm happy.

I have several pair, and I wear these socks everyday in the winter, they keep my feet toasty warm. Smartwool is the only brand I buy when it comes to warm socks.

Love these socks. I watch my sons ski racing with these socks and my feet were so warm. This is surprising since my toes are always cold.

I bought a pair of these for an upcoming winter trip since I will be outdoors most of the time and don't want my Reynaud's acting up. I planned on using them for that but they work so well that I wear them every time I walk my dog and have had no problems with my toes going numb. My only complaint is that they don't come in different patterned designs.

These socks are very thick. They didn’t fit inside my winter boots. I tried them with boots that were a full size larger and that worked. Ultimately, I wasn’t willing to wear boots a size larger just to accommodate the socks. I purchased a thin pair of the PhD’s and they fit into my regular size boots just fine. I love the extra heavy mountaineering sock, and plan to wear them around the house when my feet get cold, like slippers, as many reviewers have said they do.
