I needed a sandal that fit a couple criteria: comfort, secureness (straps), all-around abilities for different types of wear and style. And this fit the bill! I looked into Chacos and Tevas but those didn't fit the style criteria, and as I also didn't plan on doing serious hiking in these I didn't require a more rugged shoe. But these sandals are amazingly comfortable, durable, and easy on the eyes. So glad I found these. I was able to wear these all day from the start.

Seeking shoes for a trip to India and these are the winners. Comfortable and cute. Can walk all day in them

Wore these all day everyday at Universal Florida for a week and my feet were happy!

These are really cute! The "silver" is subtle, think gun metal grey. The toe ring feels just right, not too tight. I was absolutely ready to LOVE these shoes, but the material of the footbed makes the bottom of my foot feel hot. I sounds weird, but that's what happens. My feet do not sweat, but feel uncomfortably hot. So sadly they are going back.

Love these shoes, It took a day to break them in and I have been wearing them ever since. The gold bronze color is pretty. I plan to get them in the silver color too. So very comfortable, a good traveling sandal.

This is my first shoe from this brand and I'm already hooked! It's extremely comfortable right out of the box for my wide, long, and high-arched feet. I absolutely recommend and am back on Zappos right now to pick up some more sandals from olukai! Can't wait for the weather to warm up enough for these sandals.

Bought this super minimal strappy sandal in black. They get a ton of compliments. Great quality and perfect arch support. No slippage when walking. Perfect for the beach. Would buy in brown if they had my size.

This Olukai Upena was a perfect length, a perfect width and all straps were where they should be . It looks great on the foot..very flattering. I returned it because the toe strap cut into my toe, leaving a definite imprint and made it uncomfortable to walk in. Maybe it's just me and my toe...give it a try. I have the Olukai 'Ekekeu and I can't even feel it on my feet. I also didn't feel the arch support in Upena like I do in the Ekekeu... but they don't look different...you decide...it's a beautiful shoe.

I'm a 6.5 so I ordered two sizes (6 and 7) in the charcoal/ pewter to try on since some reviews said to size up but a few said sizing down worked for them. I tried on the 6 fit but my feet went all the way to the edges of the shoe, so technically it fit but it felt snug (especially in the toe loop) and my daughter said it looked too small. I tried on the 7 which was a tiny bit too big (in length), but looked and felt like it fit better. The ankle strap did feel a little looser on the size 7s, but I decided slightly loose was probably better if it meant the rest of the shoe fit better. The arch support is decent but not as amazing as I had hoped. It's a cute sandal, but another thing to note is that the charcoal is more of a putty color than a grey or charcoal, so if the color is important to you, keep that in mind.

Not for bunions. Great shoe, great arch support, cute style. But the strap cuts right into my bunion.

bummed. wanted these to work. length was perfect. width was spot on. tried on at end of day when as swollen as I'm gonna get. left foot was ridiculously tight within the straps (perfect in relation to sole) and last hole was a stretch (you cannot wear securely unless on second hole). right foot fit perfectly within straps but again, could only buckle into last hole. so weird. I have average arches, a med-high instep & average width feet. beautifully made sandals, but thinking best for skinny girls?

Good things first: The toe loop did not strangle my big toe! The leather straps are really soft and felt like they would conform to my foot after a few wears. Now the not-good-for-me: The footbed itself was a smidge too narrow for the widest part of my foot (which is slightly wide but not wide enough to need wide-width shoes). And there just wasn't as much arch support and cushioning as I wanted. If your foot runs on the narrower side and you don't need too much arch support/cushioning, these could be really great for you. Sad to return.

Not in love, but most comfortable shoes I've found in this style. Wish the footbed was leather. The straps are soft and I was able to wear for hours out of the box, though. A bit more refined than by usual Birkenstocks, so keeping.

The band was just a bit too narrow to be comfortable across the width of my foot. Had to return.

I wear a cheap nude strappy sandal constantly because it goes with everything I wear that doesn't require a heel. I was looking for an upgrade that would have more support so I don't destroy my feet. I tried the Upena in mustard/bubbly and golden sand. In the photos, the color on the golden sand is a warm toned tan/nude color, but in real life it was somewhere between khaki and olive drab and super unflattering to my skin tone. The mustard color was just like the photo. However, my cheap strappy sandals have a leather tone foot bed that matches the straps, and these have a black (or very dark) foot bed in contrast to the straps. The difference makes them look more athletic, so not as easy to dress up. I would have reordered to try the kona color, which would match better, but I had a little trouble with the width of them. I know other reviewers said they had some stretch, but at this price point I didn't want to keep a sandal that wasn't just right, and they felt uncomfortably snug. My foot is usually not wide enough for wide width sizing, but it is on the wide side of average.

I love the style of the sandals, but my Asian feet don't agree with them. No matter how I adjust them, they dig my feet very badly. Also, the buckle is placed on the back not the side which I found very difficult to maneuver.

Fit great, wore them on tropical sail voyages and handled being in and out of water. Super comfortable and hiked all day in them

I really like these. They were immediately comfortable. The leather is very soft. They feel true to size for me but my feet are narrow, so someone with a wide foot might find them tight. I find shoe arches uncomfortable and these don’t bother me at all.

These sandals fit well and remained comfortable after walking in them all day. I bought these sandals for a 3 week trip to the Marshall Islands, they looked great during the entire trip, were always comfortable and looked appropriate regardless of what I wore with them. After returning home, I still wear them during warm weather.

I bought these to have summer shoes that didn’t kill my feet - mission accomplished. They are extremely comfortable to walk in and are as cute as this type of shoe is going to get. Depending on my stride, the toe loop sometimes aggravates my big toe, but the design of the shoe makes it easy to slip off the loop of needed. You can comfortably walk for exercise and miles in these. They also stand up well to the beach, saltwater and all. I definitely recommend this.

Shoes are a perfect regular size 8. I didn’t even need to adjust the strap. My feet will start cramping if the support isn’t good and I haven’t had any issues with these sandals.

Really like these sandals. Size was pretty close. I normally wear anywhere from a 7, 7.5, to an 8, and the 8 was best for me in this style as my feet are a little wider than average but not overly so. I love OluKai and love this style, but I wish they would come out with a lighter neutral color. I will wait to purchase again when they come out with that higher color instead of all the dark browns and black.

I love how they look on my feet. I don't particular like sandals with the toe separations due to the discomfort it creates. These sandals are different. WOW its like walking totally free from any discomfort. This was a great buy that will last. That's why I always come back to Zappos. I know what to expect.

I love this brand but I should have ordered an 8. I have had one pair of these shoes in another color for a few years and I am always afraid they will no longer make the shoe. I can't find the color I have so wanted another pair.
