I bought these specifically for hiking and tried them out this past weekend hiking Algonquin in the ADK. I didn't want a waist that was so low that I couldn't bend over without plumbers crack but not high waisted and these were perfect. The area around the leg zippers was loose enough that it didn't constrict movement but not so loose as to look huge on the leg. I did need to take my shoes off to get the legs off. The color coding on the leg zippers was nice for when I put them back on at the summit - easy to figure out left versus right. The regular length is good for me (5'8" 125 lbs) and the 4 fits well.

Highly recommend ordering a size up as mentioned previously. Great pant and length of short for zip off. I'm 5'11" and the 34" inseam was barely long enough.

Great style and great material. I like more colors, black and dark blue.

I should have gotten the LONG version, so who knows, I may buy another pair. These don't act like they will wear out any time soon, so I may just roll the pants legs up.

I tried another brand before North Face and the zipper to covert the pants in shorts felt too much while walking, and after a few hours it hurt my legs. With this pants I can hardly feel it.

Good fit for me with the perfect features! Shorts are not too short or too long. Pant legs are not too tight or too loose. Draw string in waist is a nice option also. I'm happy to find these at a good price. Thanks Zappos!

I've been looking for a pair of convertible hiking pants for months. I'm 5'3" so convertible styles I like are often too long and don't come in shorter lengths. I'm also a bit hippy, so those that would fit over my hips would be too large in the waste, not to mention, depending on the vendor, I could need anything from a 2 to a 6. Even those that have the roll up option would still look too long and I'd have too much material bulked around my ankle. These pants were recommended by the Hiking Lady website. I first ordered them in a 6 based on the sizing wizard. Too big in the waist, but the length was perfect, the color is great, they are super comfortable and lightweight, and I liked the style. Just reordered in a 4. I can just get them over my hips, and they are maybe 1/2" too large in the waist BUT the drawstring (that hides nicely behind the button and doesn't bug me) makes them fit perfectly. The legs are very easy to zip off, and I love the shorts, probably more than the pants (but I like both!). The real test will be our 8 mile hike tomorrow, but just based on how great they feel wearing them today, I suspect they will work just fine. Thank you, North Face. My long search is over!

This is perfect for travel or outdoor activity. The pants are flattering for my body shape. I followed website for "best fit" and the size is accurate.

I already owned two pair of zip-off pants that I bought at a sporting good store. The material is so filmsy they always looked like I'd slept in them. My husband owned quality fabric slacks and he looked neat as a pin. So I went on a search and found these great slacks at North Face. I am considering another pair and urge you to give these a try.

I bought these pants to wear when I do died work. That involves hiking, heavy lifting, and a lot of squatting. Very comfortable and durable. Will probably buy a few more pairs.

I have had such a hard time finding hiking pants that are long enough. I am 5'9" and most pants become highwaters once I have my hiking boots on. These pants, in the long length, were perfect. The material is lightweight yet breaks the wind and it truly dries very quickly. I love that there are three easy convertible options: full pants, shorts (not too short), and rolled up capris. I used all three lengths on my recent hiking trip. These are my new go-to hiking pant and I would highly recommend!

This is my fourth pair of these pants (of various incarnations of the Paramount Convertible Pants over the years) and they keep getting better with each purchase. I wear these hiking, volunteering, pretty much anything I need something indestructible and reliable material-wise to hold up to whatever abuse I throw at them.

Excellent hiking pants for summer in Colorado!!! Exactly what I need to go exploring on an afternoon hike. They fold up really well so I will be traveling with them. Just a good quality, warm weather pant.

I love these pants. The fabric isn't that soft, but I have some convertible pants that are very soft and they got a run in the butt the first time I wore them. These feel more durable. They held up on a hiking/camping trip in the Grand Canyon. I'm 5'8" and weigh 115lbs and the 2 fit perfectly. I mainly bought them because they have a 5" inseam as opposed to the usual 10" or 7" (if you're lucky). I don't feel like a frumpy old lady in them! A 5" inseam is really hard to find in convertible pants. I would wear them even when I'm not hiking or camping.

Have done several hikes in them, vertical climbing & running. They prove themselves to be the perfect pant over and over again, will absolutely be buying a second pair.

I'm taking my daughter to Africa for a special trip and these pants are perfect. I went a size up for comfort and I think they will be perfect for hot days and cook evenings. Nice quality and nice design.

I love these pants. I bought about 15 years ago and wore them on many boyscout camping trips, and hiking. After losing one of the removable legs, I had to order another pair, to use for a hike on the Applacian trail this fall.

Will be wearing these pants when I hike Mt Whitney this fall. All other zip off pants I tried were so ugly and unflattering and did not fit well at all. Was about to give up the search and found north face pants! Sizing info great and they fit perfect and look/function great

The fit is generally true-to-size, or perhaps a bit small. I bought a size larger than I normally buy in fashion since I didn't want to be constricted / uncomfortable when hiking. They fit comfortably.
