I love the boots. Breathable, durable and comfortable. The design is good. The laces are horrible though. Too long and extremely "slippery" so they untie themselves constantly unless you double tie them. Add some great non-slip laces or even better...add the lace system from the "Forces"-line and you have a really great boot. The laces annoy me so much though, that until I buy some new ones and replace the existing ones, I dont feel like wearing my boots.

I have had these boots just over a year now and did not expect to get very wet feet (I mean puddles in the soles of the boots) when walking through dewy grass. Not impressed with these at all. They are meant to be Gore-tex!

I have only just bought these boots after being so impressed with my X Ultra 3 mid GTX and Quest 4D 3GTX.
I must say that my initial thoughts are that they feel far less comfortable than the other 2 straight out of the box.
I found that with the X Ultra's they were a very narrow fit, so when purchasing the the Quest 4D 3's I went for a half size bigger, which worked perfectly.
So naturally I went for a half size bigger again with the Quest Prime, but this time I have found this unnecessary, and they feel a bit to big.
It's too soon after my purchase to judge these boots fairly, but after only a few days I'm wishing that I had bought another pair of Quest 4D 3's to replace the ones that are slowly starting to wear out.
If you are considering which ones to buy between the Prime's and the 4D 3's (and don't mind paying that bit extra) I would highly recommend the latter.
The Quest 4D 3GTX are the best all round boot that I have ever owned, and would highly recommend them, whereas my initial thoughts on the Prime is that I have bought a cheaper product that feels like a cheaper product.
The one exception is the sole which so far in wet conditions the Prime has the best grip of all 3 boots.

The ankle support is comfortable and the sole has just the right amount of rigidity and cushioning... at least for 4 days of coastal walks and rock-pooling on the Isle of Wight. I don't know why someone said it fits true to size - I'm size 9 regular width in a Brannock device and take 9f in 3 pairs of Cheaney dress shoes but with these I had to go up to size 10.5! Plus they are still narrow across the bridge of the foot. If I go up to 11 I fear they'll be too long in the toes and too loose around the heel. I like the construction and I wonder is there a similar style or 'last' that comes up wider?

Boots are very light and comfortable but may as well not incorporate Gore-Tex as they definitely are not waterproof, not even shower proof! The Gore-Tex also makes them very warm which may lead to blisters.

Bought these boots to trek the GR20 in Corsica last summer, being one of the toughest treks in Europe I went for a pair of Salomons. The terrain was extremely rugged, but I still would not have expected the tread to wear away as quickly as it did. It took 10 days of trekking before I failed to get much grip going downhill on smooth rock (photo 2). Furthermore the retention lugs at the neck of the boot on the inside, sharpened themselves on rock as the trek wore on, these cut my inner calf often and caused some discomfort (photos 4 and 5). The lugs on the outside actually came off after 6 days (photo 1).
Despite all this, the boots fit like a glove after a few days they were super comfortable and breathable, as well as providing adequate waterproofing when needed. Just a shame about the durability.
I would recommend spending a bit more money on one of the more rugged pairs of boots, rather than these. But for low to moderate level trekking these would make a good pair of boots.

The metal bits on the shoes (to hook the laces) turned red... after just 3 months of use. Very disappointed by Salomon. The shoes are expensive enough they could have put more quality into this. Salomon, I will reconsider you next time

Have had a pair of these for around a year now. Have not got on very well with them. The sole is fine for paths but on steep incline or decline it doesn't have much grip. I would go at least half a size up in these as my toes have hit the end on the down hill. Have done hikes ranging from 2mi-11mi. The laces when wet seem to come undone very easily. This is the first pair of boots I have fallen in due to lack of grip. Have also found them to not be 100% waterproof.

This is my second pair of these boots and both have done the same thing. After a few weeks the right boot started squeaking. I went back to the retail store and was told to put some powder in the boot to stop it. I was hoping that it was just something wrong with this one boot so I bought another pair and just like before, the right boot started squeaking. This has never happened to me with any other shoe or boot including other Salomon footwear. I really love how comfortable this boot is but I can't take the noise.

As almost all of the Salomon shoes I had ( 3 different paires), they have no proper grip in wet conditions. I won't have Salomon shoes anymore.

Excellent boot in every way, except the toe box must have been designed for people with twelve toes. The boot is comfortable, but feels so weird having all the extra space in the toe that it renders the boot unwearable. Even after lacing them up nice and tight, your left with clown shoes. Good company... bad boot.

After very light use the metal fittings on my boots fell out, all 4 of them. Rest of the boot is fine. Wouldn't buy these again at all.

At first I was quite impressed with these boots, the most expensive I've bought, more than twice the price of some I've had in the past. Very comfortable, and I thought that the lacing-and-hook arrangement was quite good, though I had begun to wonder how strong the top hooks were - they seemed to be flexing outwards. But after just nine months' use (and not much at the start of this year because of the weather), the right-hand boot has started to split where it fits across the tops of my toes. There's a 4mm split on one side and the start of a second one on the other. So tomorrow I'm back to the retailers to see what they're willing to do to remedy the situation.
Taking into account prices and how long they've lasted, other boots have proved five times' better value than these. Very disappointed.

I've done a total of about 15 miles in these boots so far. About 4 miles through the snow to the summit of Mt. St. Helens (skied down) and about 11 miles in Haleakala National Park through the crater of the mountain. Neither was particularly crazy terrain (though Haleakala did have sand on some parts of the trail).
Parts of the treads of these boots already look similar to the treads on my last pair of Asolo Fugitive boots that I had for ~8 years and logged probably 1000 miles in.
Sections of the tread have straight up fallen off the boot. See photos. All heel and toe sections of the treads on both the left and right boots having missing parts of the treads after just 15 miles.
Otherwise so far this is a good boot and slightly wider than other Salomon boots I tried on (which was good for my flat feet).
But based on the very poor tread durability, I would not recommend buying these unless walking on very mellow terrain.

I wore these shoes in first around the house along with others, sending all others back and trusting in these boots. I visited a local hiking store and checked fit with an incline/decline ramp. All looked good. I then proceeded to break these boots in by going on a few short walks 3 kms and 5 kilometers with no problems in a month and a half time period. Unfortunately, when I needed them most for my Colorado hikes, my feet became very sore after taking them off on the first day. The outer sides of both feet. The sole is fine for paths but on steep incline or decline it doesn’t have much grip and rubs. I developed sores on my outer sides of foot, having my group wanting me to sit out the big hike. The whole purpose of our trip!!!! Well I was determined to go, 3 weeks later I still can not wear normal shoes as the sores became bloody with incline use and my feet still have not healed!!!! Out of a group of 19 people these boots were the only failure to comfort and use!!!!! I went up least half a size up in these and my toes still hit the end on the down hill, I have two purple toe nails I am sure I will loose. The laces when wet seem to come undone very easily. This is the first pair of boots I have fallen in due to lack of grip. Have also found them to not be 100% waterproof. My husband who did not attend hike and wears the same size shoes as myself insisted that it was an individual error, when I told him to throw them away, so he wore them working in the yard for one day, and ended up with sores on the sides of his feet as well. I hate these boots and worn you to trust in another pair don't let them cause you pain and or ruin a trip. I seriously HATE these boots, they look awesome but fail on performance.

This is the second pair of these boots I've had and they have both failed in the same way.
The material either side of the boot level with the bottom of the laces has frayed and started to come apart, just where the boot flexes when you walk.
I only had the boots around 6 months before this started (okay I average 20 to 30 per week but not all with the same boots as I tend to rotate my boots) once the fray starts the boots are no longer waterproof.
When my first pair failed I thought this was unlucky or that I'd caused a small rip or been to vigorous when cleaning my boots. I liked the weight and feel of the boots so had a second pair.
