These boots are comfortable; a little stiff at first but they break in quickly and they feel solid and stable. I like that the top comes up taller over the ankle than many of its competitors, and the lacing system is excellent. There are six sets of lacing eyelets/hooks as opposed to the Salomon X Ultra 3s and some other boots that have only five. I especially appreciated the set of hooks at the bend in the ankle, which helps to lock in the heels and provides good ankle support. On the negative side, I have a narrow foot and the toe box in these is said to be "average" width, but it's too big for me. Salomon boots have a reputation for running narrow, which I love, but many people have been surprised and have given negative reviews about their narrowness in the past. So I think they made the toe box in these boots bigger to try to address that. It will be different for everybody of course, but for people with narrow feet, including a narrow forefoot, the toe box in these might feel bulky and reduce your feel for the terrain. Whether you love these or not will also depend on the type of hiking you plan on doing. They are a little heavy and are probably overkill for easy trails or for casual, short-mileage weekend trips. But if you have an "average" width foot (not wide) and will be hiking rough trails or with a backpack, the Quest Primes might be perfect for you.

My old Salomons finally wore out after 10 years of rugged wear, so I was in the market for a new mid hiker. I ordered three from Zappos -- all Salomons: the Discovery GTX and the Comet 3 GTX, but the Quest Prime GTX surpassed the other two in terms of size, fit, and finish. This is an absolutely fantastic boot with amazing support, great padding, and superb fit and finish. I wore these out of the box to go hiking in Colorado, and they required no breaking in. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a low mid hiker (they aren't as high as the other two), with great support and feel. I have a narrow (B) foot, and with a thin Dr. Scholl's insert and a good hiking sock, these fit perfectly.

These boots are amazing. I live in NE Ohio and I am outside quite a bit in the winter, whether it is quick hike, or just walking my stubborn dog. I have been outside with windchill down to -10* F and show about 6" high for up to an hour and my feet had no idea I was even outside (my feet felt like I was inside my nice, warm house). These shoes have great soles as well. When I am walking on jagged ice, I do not feel much pressure or flex in the soles of these boots, which is nice. I don't feel like walking on something and slipping would cause me to sprain my ankle as these shoes have very good support. They may feel a little stiff, but there is a decent amount of flex in the tongue to allow for a smooth feel while walking. To sum it up, these are comfortable, sturdy, well-made boots that will keep your feet dry and warm even at -10* F (and possibly below).

I originally ordered a pair of Vasques and found quite a few reviews with sizing issues. I tried to cancel the order the next day but couldn't. Zappos CS marked the package as return to sender to save me the hassle of dropping it off, which is brilliant. Thanks Zappos. I placed the order for the Salomons the same day. I've had several pair of their hiking and trail running shoes so I was confident they would fit well. They did. They felt great out of the box. Nice and light as well. I purchased them for day hiking with my 35# toddler on my back and they work great for that. FWIW I wear a 10.5 and they fit as expected. They are a little roomier in the toe than I expected, but feel great.

A nice boot......but.... I don't have wide feet and this boot pinched the outside bottom of my foot abeam the instep. I wasn't sure if breaking it in would make this better or not, so I decided to return them. Also, while very tight around the instep, there was lots of extra room in the toe box.

I got these to replace a well-worn pair of Lowa Zephyr Desert Mid TF. The one issue I had with the Lowa was the toe box was just tight enough that I would end up with blisters on my little toes on extended hikes. I had to be really particular with the socks I wore with them. The Salomon has a roomier toe box, much more ankle support than the Lowa, and are almost as stiff as my Schnee's Beartooth boots. I've don't have many miles on them yet but have been wearing them daily and love them. My favorite pair of everyday boots so far. Two small things: * The first lace hook grips big time, which is great for staying adjusted but is a pain when you take them off. * The laces are slippery and don't hold a knot well, so if you don't double knot they loosen throughout the day. Fantastic boot, especially if you need a little more room in the toe box without going to a wider size.
I'd also recommend:
Lowa

This is a great boot! They required nearly no breaking in. They were comfortable to wear on the plane for 8 hours. They held up handedly to groomed trails, rough trails, rocky paths, water, rain, and mud. I have very flat feet and these provide all day comfort and support. They are a bit on the narrow side. Overall, its a great boot and would buy them again.

Most comfortable shoes/boots Ive ever worn. Also my first pair of Salomons. Have always been scared to spend the money on these, only to find out they would hurt my sensitive feet but these dont! So lightweight and comfortable I could wear them all day.

This is my 4th pair of GTX mid hikers in the last 6 years. They have changed the details over that time but I still find them great all around hikers. I use them for hiking and backpacking. The waterproofing works well even when hiking through streams and wet fields. One comment I would make is that the soles do not seem to last as long as I would like but I really am not sure how many miles I put on them before they show significant wear but it in the 100s of miles so take that for what it's worth. I do like that the soles have good grip on wet rocks so that is probably the trade off between good grip and longer life. Although the uppers are not leather they wear well and hold up for the life of the soles. The fit is comfortable right out of the box but I do order a half size larger than my normal shoes as I wear heavy hiking socks with these shoes.

I bought these as a gift for a friend of mine. He happens to be a SC State Trooper and needed something durable for all weather conditions. "They breathe well and keep em dry!" As he put it.

Seem to be very nice boots. I was specifically looking for boots with a wide toe box to accommodate my bunion, but a narrower heel to accommodate the rest of my foot, and these were great. However, they run LARGE. Definitely purchase a half or even full size down. Had to return because they were so big, and unfortunately they are no longer available so could not reorder and therefore can’t comment on how these hold up outside the house.

Fit well. A little difficult to get on but I believe this will get better as they get broken in. As other have mentioned, the laces have a tendency to untie but there are little nubs in the speed laces that hold the laces tight. I may replace the laces like other reviewers have mentioned.

Like other reviews they felt great out-of-the-box. I've recently had Vasque and Merrell and liked both but I love these. We hike >1000 miles/year and so far the Salomon Quest are the best boots I've ever had. Time will tell but they seem very well made.

I bought this style boot for the higher tops for winter. I think they will work just fine. I like Salomon fit better than any boots I had. I have the X Ultra that I prefer during the warmer months. I really like the arch support in the Salomon boots.

I usually fit between 10 and 10.5 but these were too big. If you are between sizes, order your smaller option. Got these in a 10 and they are perfect! Wonderful boots.

I bought a pair and it had an odd factory defect. Salomon replaced the boot free of charge and made it easy to do so. Greatest shoe company ever. I love every pair I've ever had. Thousands of miles on my boots and I still have my original pair from 8 years ago.

Good solid footing with a stable base and sole. Upper is lightweight and comfortable all day long. Cannot really speak of the durability yet since I've only had this pair a few months and are my at work boots. But If they hold up like my other 2 pairs of Solomons I'll be happy.

Viel Spa damit.

I bought these boots strictly for riding my Harley touring motorcycle. This is my 3rd pair of this style (hiking) boot. I find that these thypes of boots are ideal for riding, waterproof, breathable and comfy.

I bought these shoes online after purchasing and liking the quality of the Salomon running shoes. These boots are very warm, breath well and are very high quality. Will definitely purchase them again. I wear them daily at work, casual use and for snow shoeing. I live in the U.P. of Michigan with nearly six months of winter and they are holding up extremely well.
