I've cycled through many different brands of hiking pants that were always too baggy, hot or generally uncomfortable. The customer service rep was very helpful in determining my needs and size. She recommended this style and another one ( can't recall). I bought two different sizes (4 and 6) in both pants I'm 5'3 and 108 lbs and the Parapet 4s fit perfectly. Although I didn't want to spend this amount of money on hiking pants, it was totally worth it. These are comfortable, slim-fitting and I like the pockets. The pants don't flop around in heavy wind and fit perfectly under rain pants. Highly recommend.

I couldn't be happier with these pants for everyday wear in hot weather. They're super-light, comfortable, and much to my surprise fit me well. I'm 5'3" and shortwaisted and still the 29" inseam was a little long on me, but it was worth every penny to have them hemmed to fit. Dying to order other colors but sad to say I can't find them in my size and inseam anywhere (Zappos or beyond) at the moment.

These are awesome pants- great light color and super comfortable. I have curves and these fit me like they were tailored to me. In Patagonia, I wear a size 10 but these are true to size and the 8 fit perfectly. I'm 5'8" and they were just the right length as well and all the pockets were easy to get to. I LOVE these pants!

Love these pants! They are great casual everyday pants, and also wonderful for kayaking and hiking. They are light weight, dry quickly, and a great fit. This is my 3rd pair!

Finally someone made useful pants for women with actual pockets! These are comfortable in hot weather, with enough room for layers underneath in cold weather. The pockets are the perfect size, and in all the right places. The Basalt color is great, and I wish there was a bigger color selection. I also wish the waist was a little higher, with another inch or two of zipper, but that's because I'm 56 years old. All in all, these are the best hiking pants I have found anywhere and totally recommend them. Also, they can be rolled up to capri or shorts length. Arc'teryx rocks!
I'd also recommend:

These pants are a solid 4 stars. A bit tight in the hips but fit me perfectly everywhere else. Love the pockets and relatively lightweight material. The only downside is the leg- the bottom is baggy and unflattering. I wish the leg was a slimmer cut so I could wear them as full length pants. I'm still keeping them and will just always wear them rolled up.

I ordered 2 colors of this pant in the same size and inseam the blue pant did not fit and was 4 inches less around the waist compared to the khaki. I am not sure if this was old inventory from a prior year and they changed the dimensions or a manufacturing flaw?

I ordered a size 8 and received a 6. I ordered another pair in a size 8 and they were smaller than the 6's! I really liked the material and length (I'm 5'0 and the 29" inseam was perfect) and think they are of high quality. I'd give them another try in a 10.

I bought these pants for an upcoming trip to Africa. I needed pants that would be suitable for the spring weather in Cape Town to the sweltering 35'C heat in Zimbabwe and Botswana. The test drive has been very positive and I think they will serve me well on hot dusty game drives. They are light weight, breathable, stretchy and dry fast. I have the previous model of Parapets. I find the updated version more slim fitting in the waist and legs but I prefer that anyway . For reference, I am 5'2", 116lbs and muscular. Ladies who found that the older model fit well might consider sizing up.

i love these pants. i am short waisted and these pants are actually sitting in just the right place. i would like a bit more room thru thru thighs, but with that said, they are not too tight, i just like a little looser fit. they stretch really well. the knees are perfect. the sweat dries well and they fit under my rain pants like a dream. i would really like a deeper back pocket and front pocket as well. having security about my knife falling out etc. would be nice. i love the side pockets and easy accessibility for a snack. they are so comfortable that i never feel desperate to take them off after a long day.

Perfect fit, fabric and feel! The only thing wrong with these pants is the number of colors. If Parapet came in 20, I’d buy them all. This slack can be worn up or down casual and nobody knows. Washes well over time and out-of- the- dryer ready to wear. Did I say the love word?! Thanks Zappos for being the only place I can find them!

These pants are AMAZING! I just got back from Morocco, and I ended up wearing these pants almost everyday! They are comfortable, lightweight and packable, easy wash and quick dry. Love, love, love these pants! I think they are easily the MOST comfortable pants I own! Nice job Arc'teryx!

I bought these pants for summer hiking, and I couldn't be more pleased with them. They are super light, quick-drying, and comfortable. The fit is also very flattering, unlike a vast majority of women's hiking pants.
So far I've found them to be very durable. The first time I wore them, I accidentally walked right into a thicket of blackberry, and the thorns snagged my clothing from head to toe. I was completely shocked to find that there were no holes or pulled threads on the pants.
My only complaint is the choice of colours. I would really like to see a classic beige (the "frost" is a little to light), or a navy blue.

If you're looking for a pant for severe weather, this may not be the pant for you. But if you're wanting a mostly-weatherproof, flattering, comfortable, and functional pant, this is a MUST buy!
I live in Oregon where layering is a way of life. I wanted a pant with form and function for moderate-plus outdoor activity, and am completely happy with the Parapet.
I can layer it over my Phase or Rho tights on colder days, or just wear my Arcteryx women's boxers underneath on milder days. Granted I generally seek shelter on heavy rain days, I have yet to have these pants not provide a completely dry day in Oregon's 3-seasons of rain. Great in the wind, yet totally breathable.
My favorite part is the fit- I often find performance pants fit odd in the thigh or crotch, bunch up in back, or don't hold their shape with repeated wear, but not these. They have just enough stretch to be form fitting and flattering, and adjust to my movements with ease, yet they're substantial in varying climates. I wear them for everything from gardening to skiing, hiking, power-walking, and golf, and even Farmer's Markets on Sturdays!
Highly recommend, and would buy again!

I had the previous version of these pants (forget the name) and this version fits much better, more roomier for those of us with curves. Delighted they now come in various lengths as well, no more hemming! Purchased 2 pairs right away. The capris tend to be a bit bigger around the waist in the same size, and not worth sending back, I'll use a belt. Looking forward to wearing these all hiking season! My only wish is they would come in other colours such as a khaki and a chocolate brown as the previous version did.

I love these pants. They fit well and are perfect for traveling. I can wear them over and over and they hold their shape. It is no problem to hand wash them as they easily dry overnight. No problem if you are caught in the rain, they dry so fast you hardly have time to get cold. My only complaint is the back pockets. They are not useful because they are too small and also there is no way to secure them. It would be nice to have a flap or a zipper. Also, the small pleat is not very flattering. If the back pockets were more functional these pants would be absolutely perfect!

I got these pants for hiking. But I think I will wear them for lots of things. Very comfortable I love all the pockets, the gusseted crotch, and the length! I was able to order them with a 35" inseam. I normally buy jeans with 34" inseam so though I may have to get them hemmed but they are good. The 32" inseam I tried in the store looked like flood pants on me wayyy to short.
