Nice easily packable softshell. Great for climbing in the mountains and casual use. The only drawback is the small inner chest pocket. Too small for a cell phone which is bizarre in this day and age. Everyone has a cell pone in the mountains and town. Id buy again in a heartbeat. Took one star off for the pocket (should be half star off but not allowed).

In the month I've had it I have found my hooded Gamma LT to be as top-notch as expected for my hikes and xc skiing. With a vest and inner capilene layer, keeps me just warm enough when moving in chilly weather. Size L a perfect fit for me at 5'11" and 200 pounds. The only surprise frustration is that the inner chest pocket is smaller than its Arcteryx counterpart coats n vests and won't allow for my normal sized iphone. I'm a bit perplexed given Arcteryx design for other chest pockets (and design in general) is spot-on. I use a hand-pocket instead but it's not ideal. Hopefully this can be adjusted in future given how many people use the chest pockets for their phones? Thanks so much!

The Gamma LT is a classic and essential piece of gear. I have been a consumer of Arc'Teryx products for about 20 years and have been buying size large jacket from them that entire time. When I ordered a new Gamma LT, I went large and much to my disappointment I found it to be a full size larger than the Gamma MX I bought a couple of years ago. This is frustrating - and something I have heard from others. Why would a brand with long time loyal customers change its size grading? Had the same issue with the Gamma SL Hoody.

Great little item for my collection of Arcteryx jackets. I did find the fit a bit tricky as I have broad shoulders and I am fairly broad around the ribcage. I settled on a Medium because the Large had way too much fabric in the torso area. I also find this quite lightweight and think the light version might add a bit more warmth. That said I find it great for a late summer/early Fall cycle or run.

I wasn't sure what to do with this? I tried it for lots nF thought it was never really going to be useful but eventually realised it's perfect for me for UK rock climbing. It's often breezy and whilst this isn't durable like a Psiphon FL hoody it's great to have a little warmth. The hood fits over a helmet (although a little tight round face/chin when done up), the sleeves are nice and long to keep your wrists warm but I wish it stuff3d into a pocket so you could clip to harness. I used it for cold fell running too but realistically it wasn't really breathable enough and is better just for hillwalking in windy conditions.

I was looking for a lightweight but insulated jacket for shoulder season activities and this seemed to fit the bill. It is incredibly lightweight but warm. I didn't have much opportunity to wear it in AK when it first arrived, but now that the weather is beginning to change, I have used it two times on hikes, each time wearing a light daypack. After the second hike, an area on the back developed obvious wear; it appears abraded/pilled. The shell portion is lightweight and I would expect wear and tear with time, but for the price we pay for Arc'teryx products, this is really disappointing to see after two rather short outings. It does not appear it will affect the performance but it's the principle of the thing for the wear and tear to happen so immediately. The jacket was otherwise near perfect.

That's a great softshell. I think is the best on the market, but I return the jacket, because the sleeves hang down and cover my hands, which makes this really annoying and I can't to do any task, becauseI think about roll up them all time. Arcteryx do another way to end the sleeves, please. Maybe elastic, just like in Tenquille hoody? Color Astral is great for me, I hope I can find them again. ;) Maybe in next season I will buy this jacket, when the sleeves will be a shorter or other. For now must my Atom SL or Squamish enought for me, because I really like Arcteryx products :)

I have not had a chance to put it through the paces, but expect it will be a great jacket as advertised. It is very comfortable and I love the way the fabric stretches and conforms to movement. I am 5'9" 170lbs, with broad shoulders and I seem to be in between sizes. The medium sleeves were a good length, but it was too tight for me in the chest/shoulders and would not allow for layering underneath Also when I raised my arms the hem rose up too high. I ended up getting the large size before I had a chance to try it on and was surprised at how long the sleeves are. Prior to purchasing I had tried on other models-Gamma MX, Atom, Beta and all of these in large fit me great and the sleeves were several inches shorter than the Gamma LT. The sleeves on the Gamma LT come all the way past my hand, so I will need to either roll them up or get them altered. This is pretty disappointing because I did not see anything on the website or size chart to indicate that the sleeves would be so much longer than other Arc'teryx jackets. Other than the sleeves, the jacket fits me great with or without layers underneath. I also love the Odyssea color and how it seems to have greenish/turquoise hues sometimes, or more bluish depending on the lighting. Overall I am really happy with it and look forward to using it in a variety of conditions for years to come, but I had to give it 4 stars because of the unexpected difference in sleeve length compared to other Arc'teryx jackets and the fact that the inside pocket is pretty small.

Great warmth to weight ratio. Perfect slim fit for trekking or winter running. Good for light rain. Almost perfect. I wish it has an insulated snug fitting hood and inside or outside chest pocket.

As many other commenters have said, this piece is likely to be hit or miss for you. Even after owning for 2 years, I'm still trying to figure out where this will excel. This jacket is almost a fleece-layer, but kinda a windbreaker, but has breathable panels on each side. There is DWR, but isn't repelant enough to be a rain jacket. The coreloft is only in the body panels, so its more like a vest with arms vs a proper jacket. It's a thing-a-majig. It's as if the design team rolled some dice, and made whatever they rolled. This isn't a BAD thing, but it does make it hard to say what role this jacket will play in your kit. For me, the fit in the body is great. I got a size large, I'm 5'8" with ~41" chest. The arms are a bit long, but given I'm wearing this while active the extra coverage is ok.

Bought this jacket to wear when it isn't raining. It feels a bit flimsier than I would have imagined but it is lightweight and good for the summer. I am 5"7 130lbs and bought an XS and find it still runs slightly large especially the arms, very baggy and quite long. The colours are great and it's slightly roomy if you wanted to layer a few items underneath so would be good for the winter as well.

I didn't think I'd like this jacket much when I bought it. However, it quickly became one of my favorite jackets. It's great for spring, summer nights, and fall because it adds a slight bit of warmth and gives you a little bit of water protection. I wear it all the time in the Alberta spring and fall weather. For summer, it's a great jacket to wear if you're sitting on a patio late into the evening, having a beer with your hockey friends. Don't expect this jacket to keep you warm on it's own during cold winter weather. Layer up or buy the AR or LT. Lastly, I wear the XS size and love the slim fit of the SL. I'm 5'5" and weigh 135lbs. I also wear this over my office attire to go to work.

I really like this jacket, but keep in mind while buying it that the jacket is a thinner puffy. I tend to be a warmer guy so it doesn't bother me so much, but it probably wouldn't keep you warm in harsher weather conditions.

This jacket is overall a pretty great layer for the summer or warm days that start off/end needing a light layer. It's water resistant and has kept me dry, but I haven't been caught in a storm or downpour to really test the limit of "water resistance ". Like many of the other reviews, the inner material is not smooth and is noticeable if you're wearing short sleeves or tank top under the jacket. Would it stop me from buying it? No probably not. Do I wish it was lined with something smooth? Yes, but I don't have major tactile issues so I don't find it too bothersome. I like the stretchy bit of fabric at the cuff of the sleeves

I am 6'1" and normally wear large jackets and clothing with Arcteryx. I got a large of this jackets and was swimming in it. Once I sized down the arm pit area is a little snug when I reach over my head (I climb in this piece) but the rest of the jacket fits like a glove. Not easy to layer as it is either super snug or super baggy. The material is great and has held up on granite and sandstone chimney terrain. I like it but feel I am somehow in between sizes.

I've been using this jacket every day for the past 6 months in the Bay Area and it has performed well. I've also used it in Canada on trips and layered on cold Missouri fall days and it has performed as expected. Its also been used in the Rocky Mountains while rain hiking and it started drying out right away when hung up. Considering how packable this jacket is, you can stuff it into its own hood and use it as a small stuff sack; you can also stuff it into its own pocket for the official way. It's my go-to for traveling and everyday use. This jacket isn't really something for all-out warmth. It's moreso a supplemental layer. Pair it with a nice Merino sweater and you'll be good on chilly fall days and in the rain. When boogying up the mountain it keeps you plenty warm, but this jacket alone won't do too much to keep you warm if hanging around town during fall or winter. Definitely layer under it if possible. The only real complaint that I have is that it's really tight compared to the AR and other jackets. I understand that it's supposed to be used in activities, but I have a bit of a stomach and the size of the XL is seriously hugging me on the sides where the stretch fabric is. I would have to size up to a XXL for a proper fit (others that are slimmer than me have complained about the tightness of this jacket. Regardless of that, it's lightweight, packable, somewhat warm and a good option for almost all activities.

recently purchased this shoftshell and sofar content with it. however when closing zipper there is always a hitch /stop when reaching the upper seam . in fact the zipper moves featherlight from start but when reaching near the end it stops and have to wriggle a bit and increase tension a little to close completely . so this has me worried in that after some time there may be a problem where the zipper cannot move further to the end. if/when this would turn out to be so second worry is how to have this repaired or replaced .

It's a really good softshell. It might be not 100% windproof, neither crazy warm nor super light, but it quickly became one of the most used jacked I own. Simply because it's such a great allrounder. On the other side, I am a bit disappointed with a fabric that simply lost color whenever it is exposed to the sun. Much faster than any other outdoor gear I can think of. The inner pocket is a bit too small to fit a modern, medium-sized smartphone, which is a pity. But anything else is just great.
