The old atom lt is still the bread and butter of arcteryx, and there were solid reasons for it being a top seller. If you are not sold on the atom series go try on one for yourself. Having owned the original hit wonder atom lt, the sl is surely a performer over its bigger brother. Shedding weight and coreloft it is better suited for Oregon weather IMO as its heavy enough to handle our winters to our early summer months. I have not had this for a full year yet but it has been worn for many more occasions compared to my lt for reasons in it shedding some of its coreloft - making it more versatile to handle our warmer months. Overall great piece, carries the atom feel and comfort that was so loved by many. I think going forward the atom has only gotten better with this SL, especially for my state of residence. Keep on improving this atom line, arcteryx- it is still a winner in my books.

Since I got this jacket I have taken it on all my adventures. Its light insulation combined with how it cuts the wind have really won me over. When wearing a harness or pack it still fits really nicely. The hand pockets are in the right spot.

In my opinion one of the best new pieces that any outdoor apparel manufacturer is making right now. Good water repellency in damp conditions, and the Coreloft is a perfect weight. Great as an outer layer, but also lightweight and breathable enough to wear under my Beta SL jacket in rain. Would recommend this jacket to anyone as a work horse piece.

I do a lot of backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering and am pretty picky about my layers. I feel like I'm constantly putting on layers when I stop and taking them off again to start moving. This jacket has changed that for me. I was comfortable moving in temps from 55 degrees F all the way down to freezing. I barely noticed when a cool breeze kicked in and my partner had to throw on a jacket. When stopped to transition and the temp was just above freezing, I did find the need to put another insulating layer on after a few minutes. I love the slightly longer top part of the sleeve to keep my wrist covered. The stretchy side panels dump heat to help keep you comfortable and the jacket moves easily with you. The neck is high enough when zipped all the way up to tuck my chin in if the wind picks up a bit. And I like the slightly higher pockets which are easy to access with a pack on. I'm very impressed! I will definitely carry fewer layers with this piece in my repertoire!

Great piece for cooler days when the wind kicks up. Perfect for early starts climbing multipitch routes on the Chief. The jacket moves with you and blocks the wind at the same time. Super warm for the weight. Light enough to easily stow in the pack while climbing. This jacket goes with me everywhere!

I recently purchased the Atom SL as a lighter counterpart to the Atom RH for use while bicycle commuting. The Atom SL has been ideal for cycling under 45F or higher temps and light rain. It is suitably wind/weather resistant, without excessive insulation to encourage sweating. As with the RH, it layers perfectly under a waterproof shell for serious rain.

It is simple: it fits a standard Large, trim and in case the weather allows you to work with just a base layer or even a t-shirt, here you are the perfect complement for you stop or any weather variation.

My first Arc'teryx purchase after hearing a lot about the brand and I'm not disappointed. Worn on and off for a warm to cold week in Wales' Brecon Beacons, it was lightweight, easy to stow, very warm for the stops, even for half an hour or so. The most satisfying was on a day's mountain walk at approx 10C, cold fog and light rain. The Atom SL hood did fantastic as an outer layer wearing a base layer and lightweight t-shirt underneath. Wore it all day, (removed for the hardest climbs where I got too hot with it on) was comfortable, warm but well breathable throughout, and impressive water resistance for such a lightweight and non-waterproof jacket. Took over an hour of light rain and mist to begin seeping through the sleeves, but overall no change in warmth and I was dry underneath. Once the rain stopped, brushed off the surface beads and it was almost completely dry in about 20 mins. Impressive bit of kit and will now be one of my essentials, keen to try the rest of the range!

I have just used this jacket during six days of ski touring in the Hohe Tauern Austria and it was absolutely excellent ! It provided an ideal outer layer over my Fortress hoody when leaving the hut early morning, good breathability when skinning and as the day warmed up it provided a wind resistant layer for skiing down having dispensed with the mid layer. During stops and on the summits I pulled on my Atom AR to keep warm. A Beta Sl jacket in the bottom of my sac was reassuring in case the weather turned nasty and my Procline pants were perfect. For me this combination was ideal in terms of options depending on the temperature and prevailing weather. The lightweight material of the Atom SL means I may be reluctant to wear it on the rock but we'll see! This jacket complements the existing Atom range and has easily exceeded my expectations.

I have ~20 ski tours on this jacket this winter here in CO. It is about a close to perfect as you can get for our cold dry snow climate. It is extremely versatile. It blocks wind reasonably well and breathes very well during high output activities. This jacket is not that warm on its own (not really designed to be) so you need to layer accordingly to weather conditions. Extremely burly jacket. This thing will last a long time. The downside of most softshells I've owned in the past is they are not that durable. I've ripped holes in them skiing through trees, sliced them with ski edges, etc. I don't really see that as an issue with this jacket. The material is not that soft on the inside; so I will probably wear a long sleeve shirt under it at all times. That's just my opinion though. Others may find it just fine. The medium size fit works well for me. I am 6'1'' and 160 w a bit longer arms and average torso. It has plenty of room for typical layering situations (cold to warm). Long enough in the back so when the jacket creeps up a bit from your pack the lower back is still covered. The design of this jacket is minimalist. Just the basics, but sufficient enough. Hood is big enough to fit a helmet easily, but can be adjusted to reduce the size/fit quite well. Requires over the cuff glove unless you have tiny wrists. Mine are small and its a tight fit if you try to stick a glove under the cuff.

This is a fantastic jacket. It's my favorite soft shell. It's very comfortable and gives lots of free range of motion. I like to have this jacket with me when I'm belaying while out climbing as a layer against cool, breezy weather. It's weather resistant, protective and very durable and feels that way while you're wearing it. I love the fit and green orchid color. It fits well over other midlayers and my helmet, but does not feel constrictive. The length in the back is highly appreciated, so my lower back is not exposed when bending over or moving around.

I bought this coat in onyx. I absolutely love it. Usually I am a Medium but I bought the large so it runs a bit small. It feels great on, sleeves are nice and long, no tight areas of discomfort. Keeps rain out really good. First Arcteryx item I have bought.

Excellente veste toute saison.

Been wearing the Gamma LT for 2 weeks now, very well cut jacket which beads up after a light downpour. I am a gardner so i wear the jacket for moderatly active movement. The jacket breaths very well and moves well when raising your arms. I now wear this jacket when its a bit to warm for my atom jacket and over other layers if it looks like it might rain a bit though out the day, It breathes better than i imagined and can get a bit cold during the evening, so be aware it is a jacket made to move in or to layer if your not quite sure what the weather might throw at you.

I bought this jacket for winter mountain biking and regular downhill skiing at ski resorts (no off-piste or other extreme skiing). The temperature has varied from -10 C to +5 C from calm to moderate wind conditions. So far I haven't used this garment in rainy weather (and as far as I can tell, it's not intended to be used such way). In heavy activity, as mountain biking, I managed easily in - 5C with merino wool undershirt and Rho neck gaiter. As judged by the steam evaporating when stopping, I'd say the jacket breathes pretty well. While skiing at the Alps, I used Rho AR as a middle layer and managed just fine. Occasionally while sitting in a lift without any wind cover, I felt a bit chilly. I must mentioned though that sun where shining the whole week, so that has a huge impact for the temperature regulation (my jacket is black). Taken that into account I could conclude that jacket is breathable and warm enough during moderate activity. For heavy activity, I would like to use somewhat more breathable garment. Design is great and size L is in line with my other Arc'teryx equipment of the same size. Sleeve openings are pretty tight, make sure to use a glove that goes over the sleeve. This jacket is a bit longer and therefore ideal for biking and skiing. This fit's me better than Gamma MX Hoody which was my other option. I'm very pleased for this product.

I had this jacket for over a year now and I must say that I am very happy with the purphase. It is wearable all year long, no matter what the occasion is. Just a walk through the city, hiking, climbing you name it! I even went for a short run with it! So it is a true all rounder.

This is really great jacket from Arc'teryx! It's made from nice cozy material with stretch. It sheds very little rain for a while and it block's wind nicely. One time i had to use it as hardshell when storm caught me and this jacket gave up after 2 min of really hard rain but it's a softshell so I can't complain. It's light, very well fitted and zipper just run's back and forward with no problems. If you are looking for light and good looking softshell jacket this is one for you. PS: I'm 176cm and 65kg and I got size S. It is perfect for me.

My partner got this jacket in Blue Onyx, a few months ago. I can report that she absolutely loves it. Not just because it is comfortable and a great fit. It is good in cool, windy weather, and on warmer days just over a T shirt. Not great in heavy rain, but everything else. But what a great colour! Great with jeansfor urban use, and looks really stylish. Sporty yet elegant. She is a UK size 10, and size S fits perfectly. I think she looks really stunning in it. Guys, buy this for your wife/girlfriend!
