I bought these shorts to replace my hiking and mtbing shorts and they did not disappoint! The length is perfect and isn't too long on my legs, I'm about 5'6" so sometimes finding shorts that aren't too long can be difficult. I even use them as road cycling shorts because they aren't too baggy. The extra lower front pockets are great for holding snacks and other items, while the regular side pockets still have enough room for an iPhone and wallet. I enjoy the material as it is tough and can handle scraping against rocks, trees and dirt. The belt that is included in the shorts helps keeping them up when carrying a large pack or engaging in strenuous activities, a serious pro! I highly recommend these shorts as your go-to outdoor short!

I am a female, 5'5", slim but with 39" hips and 30" to 31" waist. Most women's shorts/trousers are too big on the hips and tight on the waist on me. These fit really well-and are comfortable in men's small. I don't care about which side the flies open. The fabric is one I prefer as it is cool and light to wear. The length & inbuilt belt are exactly right.

I have a pair of the Palisades pants that I love for hiking. The shorts have all the great qualities of the pants and are perfect for hot weather. They also look good enough to wear around town on the weekend.

I spent the summer living (working) in the mountains of eastern Oregon and with the exception of a few really buggy days when I needed to have pants on, I spent the whole time in these shorts. I love them. Light, durable, comfortable, quick drying. These are the most true to size arcteryx product in my opinion.

Ive had the Palisade shorts for three months. Used it for hiking and everyday life this summer. Very lightweight and comfortable. I like that it has a lot of zippered pockets. The slightly short length is also nice.

These shorts provide an extremely comfortable and articulated experience. As a breakdancer, I prioritize freedom of movement in my garments and these short are top of the line. The have zero impediments on your range of motion. On top of that, the pockets are integrated seamlessly in the shorts, but they also provide functionality for commuting or hiking. The material is super durable, and the seems/ laminations are top quality. You can tell these shorts will last a while. I highly recommend these shorts for any activities whether it be working out, sports, or hiking.

First time I've bought from Arcteryx. I'm around a medium fit, but thought from reading other reviews that I'd go up in size. This was a mistake. I bought 36" waist, but although I could get away with it, I didn't feel comfortable so returned them for a 34" waist. The exchange process was seemless and effortless, and the shorts when they arrrived were a perfect fit. I've worn them solidly for the last two weeks. Very comfortable. Thoroughly recommend them.

Very similar to the Lefroy shorts that are my favorite but a different pocket configuration and a little shorter in length. The soft liner on the waistband is a plus for comfort and the fit while snug works well with activity given the stretch in the fabric. The hand pockets are zippered which can help secure items while active but would seem right for putting too much in them. Only issue that I've seen noted on other reviews here it for Lefroy shorts is the front zipper is short and makes quick rest stops a bit more work. Great for hiking, especially on warmer days but also look great for wearing around town.

I have bought 2 pairs. In the current weather I wear them every day, alternating of course. These are quality and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

These shorts are fantastic on the trail. Light weight and move freely yet slim fit so not baggy or loose. They dry quickly and are abrasion resistant.

I have had a pair of these for about 18 months now. They are by far the best hiking shorts that I have ever bought. As I'm doing some more hot weather travel, I decided to invest in another pair. My new pair fits just like my old ones. The only difference is the higher waistband and a shorter fly zip (the latter being the only negative on the new design). If you need hot weather, versatile hiking shorts, then these are the ones you need. I cannot emphasis enough as to how good they are. I will certainly be buying a few more pairs! Great job Arc'teryx!

These are my current go-to hiking and backpacking shorts for the southeastern USA. They fit without excess bagginess, and the pocket placement is exceptional. The flat, pre-inserted belt works great for a backpacking waist harness. These are very quick drying and comfortable with a soft interior around the waist. And I like the slightly shorter length of this version vs. other Arc'teryx shorts options. Very, very well done! These are also versatile enough to wear as casual everyday shorts for going to swim meets, walking outside, etc.

What I like most about these shorts is they can swallow keys, phones, wallets without you looking like you have developed unusual growths and lumps on your legs...not sure how Arc'teryx achieved this but i liked the shorts so much I ended up buying Arc'teryx t shirts to match (yep - I know - that's sad)

I used these shorts while hiking the first half of the Pacific Crest Trail. They stood up to everything from sliding down granite in the Sierrra, to thorns grabbing them, to being drenched in sweat through the desert, to several week-long stretches without being washed, and nearly everything in between. Sleeping and laundry were the only times these shorts were not being used. They came out looking a bit grungy but in otherwise good condition all things considered.

Great shorts, have owned many pairs. Older generations came in black. When packing light the black made for an easy conversion from trail to town. Arcteryx, please bring back the black.

This is a beautifully constructed short. Super comfortable and durable. The length is perfect too. Not sure why others felt was too short. These are not 'board' shorts and land a couple inches above the knee. Perfect on those hot summer days. Wouldn't change a thing.
