Like a lot of men my waist size is a true 33". I needed some pants while traveling and came across these. The design and quality is top notch HOWEVER this pant is not made in a 33" waist. Since the 32 was too tight, I bought a 34 in hopes it would shrink some but it did not. Now I am stuck with a baggy pair of pants I am ashamed to be seen in so I don't wear them. As much as I like them I seldom wear. I also noticed that while in almost every other brand my inseam is 30, these 32 inseams seem to be the same. It appears the sizing of this company is in a world of their own. Don't trust the size label, try them on. Other branda that ignored 33" waists have added it to their lines when this lost market is pointed out to them. I hope they add 33s so I can buy other pants but until they do, I can't.

It's hard to believe they've updated this. I owned two pairs of the previous model with the looser fit and the map pocket. The map pocket has got to be one of the best features I've ever seen on a pair of pants. Cant' say I can recommend it any longer. It was my favorite pair of pants. I hope they bring it back.

As with other customers I love the original style and had 6 pairs and wanted to buy more. the new style is so different that they should have given it a new name as it bears no resemblance to the original. Selling them with the same name is confusing as they changed everything but the name! I ordered 3 pairs and returned them promptly. The added tech pockets made these better than the competition so of course, they changed them. This is a failure of marketing and understanding their customer. If they are smart enough to bring the original back that they notify me or market them as "original" I hope they bring the original back but how will we know?

Search online in arcteryx website. Chose blue rampart. Click pick at store. Provide email address and click reserve. Drove all the way To arcteryx yorkdale @ North York Ontario. Was told so stock for the colour. Staff at store said they did not receive email. My response... I won't know that. Arcteryx should look to improve online orders.

I bought 3 of the 2015 version. I loved them, they were my favorite pants, the fit was great, pockets were great and the stretch was perfect. So I ordered another pair not knowing they changed them this year in the fit and pockets Now it's like I'm in skinny jeans. I'm 5'6" 190lbs, I lift weights 3 days, run 1 day, and swim 2 days a week, I'm very active. These pants are not for people that have a strong lower body, these are not "relaxed fit". The waist and length size hasn't changed. They are so tight you can see my boxer brief seam lines. The cargo pockets are harder to get into and are smaller also gone is the pocket on the right side behind the flap. Very disappointed, will not buy again, definitely will not recommend to anyone.

It appears Arc'Teryx doesn't like negative reviews because they rejected my first attempt. Bottom line: The re-designed the best backpacking/hiking/trekking pant on the market and ruined it.

Totally turned off by these reviews. Having owned the old pant im saddened to hear of the changes but not surprised, happens to every great outdoor piece I've bought. Im with the others, bring back the old style. Heading off in search of the next great pant. When I find it I will buy 10 pairs.

I am afraid I have to fully agree with many other recent reviews. I own 6 Rampart pants from two different old models: the Rampart over the years has become a true classic benchmarking the outdoor clothing industry! I own pants from several top outdoor brands and I have to admit the Rampart was a masterpiece, by far the best mild or warm climate weather pant I have ever owned in 20 years of buying outdoor clothing. Simply the best and only pant offering an ultimate balance in terms of functionality and versatility. Sadly the new 2016 model shows none of the great features of its predecessors and seems the result of the latest high-street latest fashion rather than a great outdoor pant with innovative design. This is the rise and fall of the Rampart. Arc'teryx have an history of listening to feedback from its customer base so I really hope they realize they made a well-intentioned mistake bring back the old Rampart because the model currently available, does not look nor feel like an Arc'teryx product and most of all it does not deserve to be called Rampart!

I have 5 pairs of these, the old ones, (also 5 pair of the shorts). I have worn them climbing, hiking, traveling, and working for years. I love the old ones, they were prefect in every way. The pocket design, the cut, the length, the fabric, the two snaps . . . I can not for the life of me figure out why Arc'teryx changed the design. No one seems to like the new design, at least not folks that own the old ones. Please, please, please align the universe again and change the design back.

I am OK with change, but in this case the rampart pants have clearly gone from being the perfect travel and field pant to a poorer product. The old version is time tested and virtually the only field pants I wear. Please bring back the original. We use those pockets, including the old double pocket on the right, which incorporated an open and a closed section, which was brilliant.

The new pocket arrangement sucks in comparison to the previous version. I expected Arcteryx gear to evolve for the better. The tiny pockets are perfect to that guy that never leaves the coffee shop on Banff Avenue. I am truly disappointed with Arc on this product. You went backwards on these pants. I am scurrying to try and find a couple extra sets of the previous version hidden somewhere on a rack.

I also have a pair of the old design, which have been and continue to be my go-to pant in warmer months. I ordered some of the new ones but sent them back. Way too big in the waist, but most tragically the pocket design has been ruined. I typically hate cargo pants/shorts but the old design was so unobtrusive and still so functional. Now there is extra material to accommodate the second pocket and it sticks out from the leg more, and feels insecure. I mean, who carries a guidebook there? Nope, somebody screwed the pooch with the new design. If they go back to the old pocket system, with flaps on the back pockets as well, I'll buy them. But not these.

I've owned probably 15 pairs and have worn them for almost all occasions for a number of years. I'm extremely disappointed in the new design.. I recently bought 2 new pairs and am returning the one I haven't worn. I have not changed my opinion after wearing the new ones awhile. Reasons: I've always worn a 34 waist. The new ones are a much bigger fit than the old ones, I don't know how much, but they might fit well if I wear my down pants under them this winter. The new pocket designs are lousy front and back. Things would stay in the back pockets before now they won't- the flap was done away with on the new model. The two front pockets per side design worked well. The new ones with the third pocket on the right side makes you have to think where things are and dig around to find the right pocket. Before I knew where things were and where they went without thinking about it and digging around. The old design were cargo pants what didn't look like cargo pants. The pocket design was sleek before, now the new additional pocket hangs out like regular cargo pants. I liked the Ramparts before because the pockets were less visible than other cargo pants. The old design had been perfected. Some things don't need changing.

Sooooooooooooo bummed!!! I loved these pants for hiking to crags and climbing in them but they changed the sizing with their updated series and quit making the size 28 with 32 inch inseam. I either have to get more fat or cut pieces of my legs off. So sad :-(
