I wouldn't change a thing about the Atom SL. I'm 6'5 180 lbs and the XL fits great.

Regulating temperature in irregular seasons isn't easy to dress for, this item is the solution. Whether I'm switching from Heat to A/C, walking the dogs in the warm spring sun or jogging on a soggy cooler evening, the Atom SL does the job. You'll forget you're even wearing it.

My favorite thing about this jacket is how well it regulates temperature. Whether it's xc skiing in -20c or backpacking in the fall, I'm very comfortable. I even used it to keep the bugs off in the summer while climbing. It's trim but still has room for layers, cuts wind, and is still in good shape 3 years in. I think it's one of their most versatile jackets. I love it!

After a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, my SL Atom was my favourite piece of gear that I carried. Was a perfect layer to hike in - kept me at a perfect temperature in a variety of conditions, and was an excellent cover for bugs while seated. Quick to dry, somehow always kept me at a perfect temperature, lightweight, extremely comfortable.

I bought this two years ago and use it for rock and ice climbing. It is showing no signs of wear at this point and I've been out on rock 50-60 days and 15 days of ice.The helmet compatible hood is fantastic. It was a thicker fabric than I was expecting from Arcteryx, but that is a plus. The sleeves are long enough for my ape-like friends. I do find around the back/armpits to be a bit smaller than other medium sized arcteryx pieces.

I initially bought this jacket as a rain coat and have been thoroughly impressed. I wore it out during a rainstorm and the water just slips right off and kept me dry the entire time. The jacket also allows me to stay cool and doesn't build too much heat. I would recommend the jacket for hiking, as a raincoat, or as a wind breaker. Originally bought an XS as I have a smaller build (135 lbs, Male), but wanted to have some extra room for layers in the fall so opted for an S which is slightly larger for me.

I've had this jacket for 3 years now, and just bought my second one! For most of the weather in Seattle this jacket is just the right amount of warmth. It's also really comfortable and useful on windy or misty days.

It's was my first Arc'teryx purchase and will always be my favourite. Super light weight but still gives you the warmth that you need!

I picked this jacket up at a local retailer. I've wanted to try Arc'teryx for a long time. I opted for the ATOM SL namely because I wanted something warm that wasn't a full jacket but a vest with sleeves. Very quickly, I mean quickly, this became my go-to piece in a variety of conditions:
I have taken this jacket climbing on many adventures (works wonderfully on belay) but on one super windy/sprinkling afternoon in Utah, I was warm and the jacket cut the wind easily.
I took this jacket traveling and found it very useful for colder nights in the summer
It makes a great pillow on trains, at camp, at the crag and on airplanes
I took this jacket up King's Peak, UT, and found it a key piece of kit in staying warm.
I moved to the east coast and forgot my umbrella on a dumping rain day. I threw this on and even though it was completely soaked, the jacket retained its warmth. I was shocked to be super warm yet super soaked.
Even after many adventures, the jacket has retained its strength with no major cuts that need repair.
This has been an amazing piece of kit that I wish I would've had years ago. It's a constant companion and well worth the purchase. Its versatility alone is why this jacket matters. I never get too hot or too cold. It's comfortable to wear going up a strenuous hill and warm on belay in the summer or fall.

I bought this jacket a couple months ago and I wear it everyday. The colour is vibrant and beautiful (I bought the blue) and its perfect for those days where a t-shirt isnt enough but a jacket is too much. Fits me perfectly (5'4, 150lbs, typically a size small) and doesnt restrict movement in the slightest. Currently contemplating how many other colours I need in this exact jacket LOL.

I bought this a few days ago but boy has it become one of my favourites. I love the water repellent properties, but it still has stretch panels in the arms and torso so it's stretchy and doesn't restrict any movement. As a curvy girl, it's hard to find a jacket that stretches around the chest without having to size up due to that. Awesome job on this jacket. Will definitely buy more.

I loved my Gamma LT and was worried the revised fit would be a disappointment. Happy to say it's still a winner! It's longer but (unlike other recent revisions) doesn't seem any bigger so still retains the nice trim fit. Photos attached - the red one is the new fit (in Jupiter colourway) and the blue one is the previous fit. For reference I'm 5'3 and slim/petite. The materials and build quality seem unchanged.

I purchased this jacket hoping it would protect me from Mosquitos in the cool evenings and mornings. I recently went to Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba. They are suffering with the most mosquitos they have had in decades from all the rain. I wore the jacket in temperatures up to 23C to keep the mosquitos off. I was always comfortable and never bitten. Thank you Arcteryx for this awesome product. It saved my vacation.

I've had a few of these over the last 6 years and the most recent update is well worth it. The rollable hood is great for bike commuting as the hood doesn't flap in the wind. The light weight insulation keeps me just warm enough when I need it on a hike. Great versatile jacket for those slightly brisk summer day!

Great jacket for everyday use, or high output cardio in 10+ degree C weather... I am always cold, but this jacket keeps me warm despite not having an insulating layer. It blocks the wind really well so it's been great for cycling in the spring. Super light and great for hiking. I have been wearing it everyday around the city too, as it is very flattering. Fits true to size and can accommodate curves. Really happy with it and hope to get the Gamma MX too for cooler temperatures.

My build is middle-age slim with hints of dad bod that comes from swapping rock climbing and a carpentry career for a decade of child rearing and health care work. I'm 6'2", 175 lbs and have a +4 ape index (my wingspan is 4" longer than my height). That can make it difficult to find jackets or shirts with sleeves that fit well. The medium Gamma LT fits perfectly if I'm wearing a simple wool t-shirt or long sleeve shirt underneath. The medium size doesn't allow much room for layering, but I like the trim fit. I also ordered a large for comparison, and the large feels just a tad too big and boxy, but it would allow more layering such as with a sweater, fleece or down vest underneath. I'm on the fence about keeping the large, but I'll probably return it since I have other options if I need more warmth. If you like a trim fit and are my size, go with the medium. If you prefer a roomier fit, then the large is for you. Sleeve length on the medium is perfect and the cuffs stay at my wrists while biking or reaching overhead.
Originally I was interested in the Gamma MX, but the size medium had sleeves that were too short while the large size had sleeves that were almost long enough but the coat was way to roomy / baggy on me. The poor fit didn't justify the cost for me.
My wife also has a Gamma LT hoody and it's interesting to note the difference in materials. The main difference is that the women's version has a nice, soft microfleece lining that definitely makes it feel warmer against bare skin. I think it's pretty nice but does add a little friction against layers underneath. For wearing around town, I'd prefer the microfleece lining, but for active use, I think the minimalist unlined fabric is probably better (can't say for sure since I haven't worn my wife's jacket during high output activity). There are a few other differences in construction details: the women's hand warmer pocket zippers are behind fabric flaps and the cuffs are standard on the women's while the mens have an asymmetric cuffs with an interesting offset.

I've had this jacket for about four months, and it proves to be the perfect outer layer for most hikes through the moist, chilly months in B.C. short of full on rain days.
It's on the heavier side for a soft shell if you're packing it as a possible layer for a trip, but if you're wearing it for the day, it works great and the extra grams aren't an issue. It seems to be rugged and durable.
I was wearing the jacket last week when I was eating a vegetarian poke bowl, and I accidentally flicked a piece of tofu out of the bowl with my chopsticks. The errant morsel struck my chest and bounced several times down the front of my torso, leaving globs of Sriracha mayo at every contact point. I was initially quite agitated, as it's a pretty new garment and it has become a favourite even for casual urban use, however, I was surprised and delighted to find that the sauce easily wiped off with nothing more than a dry napkin the material is finished with a coating that appears to wonderfully deter stains from a greasy substance like Sriracha mayo. I have the dark blue version of this jacket, so perhaps a lighter one might show some evidence of a similar mishap, but I walked home beaming with the confidence of a man who never even catapulted a piece of saucy tofu all over himself.
