What more can be said about this boot. The Iron Ranger is an American legend, and for good reason. It also seems like Red Wing increased the spi which only enhances the look of the boot.
For sizing advice. I’m a 10.5D on Brannock device and the 10D fits perfectly (down half size). For anyone with an E or wider foot go for the EE width.

Really happy with these boots. They do run small and narrow. Glad I got EE. They don't come with insoles and are pretty firm in the foot bed, so you may way to add some. Best looking boots if you're going for something rugged but high quality in this segment.

I am a size 10W and purchased a size 10R in this boot. I had no break-in period whatsoever and in fact, these boots were comfortable right out of the box. That said, the leather will indeed give. In hindsight, a 9.5 in this boot would have worked for me. With the 10 that I kept, I wear thicker socks or if not a thick sock, I use orthotics. As the reviews state, quality of craftsmanship, durability and aesthetics are all rolled into the Iron Ranger!

Loved the boots right out of the box. They fit true to size. Within an hour of wearing them they were broke in. I’ve worn Red Wings 1157 for the last 41 years. I’m not much for lace up boots, but these have changed my mind. They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. So if the last like my 1157’s. There gonna be around for a long time.

Been a Red Wing heritage fan for a few years now and the iron rangers are a very welcome addition to the closet. Extremely rugged, durable, and masculine- I expect to have these in the rotation for years to come.

Amazingly well made boots. Need to break in, but stunning construction for the price. Buy these if you want boots that will last.

“Great boots. Superior quality, well crafted. Look good dressed up or down. Be sure to size appropriately because they run large.“

With these boots it’s generally recommended that you order them a half to a whole size below your typical size. I normally wear a 13, ordered a 12 and they fit perfectly.
Some people say that it takes a long time to break them in- in my case it only took a few days.
Absolutely terrific boots.

Fit, fit, fit. You really want to get these sized. They are narrow and very very long, and meant to be fitted as tight as possible while still having toe room. You will probably need to go a half to even 1.5 sizes smaller than your sneaker size. The leather will bend and conform to your foot after a little while.
They're much too narrow to properly fit an insole, and that's really not what they're designed for. Wear it for a while and you've got a custom fit.
Fantastic boots that will surely last a long time.

As everyone else has suggested, these are beautiful boots with a great build that will last forever. Their weak point is definitely their insole. I recommend using an insole with these (they run very big, so you'll still need to size down), but to be honest, they don't play nice with most orthotic insoles. Superfeet greens have way too much volume for the geometry of these boots, for example. You want something very low profile with some cushion - Curex runpro low profile, for example, worked great for me.

I have been eyeing these boots forever. I did a lot of research before buying them to ensure that I ordered the right size. If you would like a perfectly fitted boot, get a whole size down. If you would like a little wiggle room for wool socks or just comfort, then go a half size down. I went with full size down as it does not get extremely cold here in Southern Nevada, so I won't be needing the extra room.
For Simplicity sake, if you wear a 10 in Nike, Vans, or other brands, you'd be safe in getting a size 9. For comfort, get a 9 1/2.
Initially, these boots are fairly uncomfortable and tight. After 3-4 wears the boots have loosened up more and are starting to break in. Based on my findings, these boots only get better over time. So power through the initial discomforts and you'll have a go to boot for life. :)

I love my iron rangers I got the amber harness 8111 they are really nice. top quality leather with a vibram mini lug sole. I ended up sizing down a full size, after breaking them in for a few weeks, they are so comfy. they were tight at first, but length was good. after break in I have a perfect fit.

If you are used to cheap, glued together shoes/boots then these will be a different experience. First of all, size down from your brannock measurement. Down .5 size with normal volume feet and 1 full size for lower volume feet. I see some people mentioning going down 1.5 or even 2 sizes and I think that's why there are so many complaints on the break in being brutal. It's really a testament to the boot that they still managed to break in when they are sized down too far. They will feel stiff at first but will get more comfortable every time you wear them. Eventually they will become custom molded to your feet. These have literally become more comfortable than my New Balance sneakers, and my NBs are quite comfortable. The only reason I reach for my sneakers now is if it's too hot out for boots. Additionally, these will last forever with proper care and can be resoled. They cost more but will cost less in the long run because you won't be frequently replacing cheaper boots. Get these boots in the right size and you won't regret it.

I have high arches so I always add arch support. That’s no big deal. The important thing to note is that these are my 5th pair of redwings and they are BY FAR the most comfortable out of the box. I guess the leather is softer. I usually have to wear them for about 1 month solid to break in AND stretch them with boot heavy-duty stretchers while spraying them with rubbing alcohol and water. If you are looking for something that doesn’t look like you are headed to the construction site and had a comfortable feel out of the box, get these and don’t think twice!

We bought two pairs before finding the right size. It was only our fault in sizing but I would say they for us they ran one whole size bigger. And the third and final pair we got in were much more light in tan. A little disappointed because the other two pairs that did not fit were just right in color.

An absolutely great boot. Before purchase, was concerned about build quality based on previous experience with Red Wing work boots. I was also concerned about the break-in period.
I can honestly say that my concerns were for naught. The build quality was great and break-in was relatively easy.
You should definitely get a full size smaller than your typical shoe size though. Some reviews recommend 1/2 size smaller, but from my experience, 1 is best and 1.5 might even be better. Don’t take my word for the 1.5 though.

These are my first pair of of Redwings. I looked a Chippewas and Wolverines before deciding one the Iron Rangers. The other brands had people saying the heel fell off before a year of ware. I was nervous buying them still but the reviews I read and the craftsmen ship of the boots live up to the hype. The are really a great looking pair of boots. I constantly find myself staring at them. The fit was perfect! I'm a size 13 so I ordered the 12 cause the stretch a bit after a lot of use. I also have flat feet, still went with a medium with and it's perfect! Leather is stiff but not uncomfortable. I recommend give a solid 2 week of ware and any tight/stiff spots should break in very nicely. When I tie them I try not to make in to tight enough around the ankle to keep my heal from moving around and so the fold by the toe doesn't hit my foot. Overall they are a great good looking boot! Totally worth the price.

Red Wing Boots is a staple of american design and manufacturing. All their boot models are great in their own way. These Iron Rangers are no different. The same overall design as its counterpart with the rubber/cork sole but these have the vibram sole. Having tried both the standard sole and this side by side, I would say that these feel a little move comfortable from the start just because I was more familiar with the sole design. The rubber/cork sole feel good but I could tell it would require more of a break in period before achieving the level of comfort that these had almost immediately. With that said, YES, you still need to break in the boots and leather because it is thicker than most are used to (for those only experienced with Timberland and similar boots). I have a number of Red Wing boots and each, on average, takes about a week or two of wear to break in to the point where I'm comfortable all day. Afterwords its a phenomenal feeling boot which I can wear for 12+ hours and not complain at all. So, be forewarned, you will need a couple wears to break them in before fully comfortable. After wearing these for a bit, invest in some neutral shoe polish and maybe some mink oil to keep the beautiful color vibrant and looking good. These can be worn with any combination of clothing that you would wear brown boots with (just in case you're wondering).

I wear size 8 in dress shoes and sneakers. I ordered these Iron Rangers in size 7 and the fit was perfect. The Hawthorne leather is easy to break in, not like RW moctoe boots. My only complaint is that the leather on the toes of the boots have a slightly different texture: one is smooth and the other is rough. You have to look closely to see the difference. Fortunately, the colors match.

I measure 10.5 wide. I wear a 10.5 wide in Johnston & Murphy wingtips. I wear Red Wings Dynaforce in a 11, regular width. Most of my sneakers are size 11.
I bought the Iron Rangers in a 10.5 wide and they were comically oversized. They were huge, and weren't even close to being a 10.5 wide. I will be immediately returning them for a smaller size.
The review process requires a score, but the scoring is not accurate because I haven't worn them.

Sorely disappointed at the asymmetry between left and right foot. It’s surprising this pair made it past QC. At this price point it’s unacceptable. Returned next day.
