I am returning one pair of two pair that I purchased because they are just not at all what I expected. I am keeping one pair simply because I have worn then at least a dozen times even though they feel no better than they did with the first wearing. The tongue is very uncomfortable, I HATE the elastic shoelaces, and my feet burn the whole time I am wearing them, I have worn WR840WB for many years and NEVER had a problem or disliked a pair of them. I could wear all day long and feet were perfectly comfortable. If I could find someone who had a dozen pair of my old number shoes I would buy all of them!! Needless to say, I'll be looking for a totally different shoe in the future. If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it.

This shoe (840v3) was a major disappointment. It is nothing like the 840v2 which is a walking shoe while the "improved"--really worsened--840v3 is labeled as a "running shoe." There is a ridge across the interior toe box that hurt my toes even walking slowly. I can not imagine what that would feel like for a runner!

Overall, the shoe is too big. But, I found the heel was too wide. I couldn't walk with them. I wish your shoes could be consistent! I've been wearing runners for 34 years. And the past few years, the quality has plummeted. Nothing is consistent anymore. I am going to start looking at Nike's and Asics..

There is a piece that comes up very high on the inside of the shoe that rubs the foot!

This is an uncomfortable shoe for my wide narrow-heeled foot. It fits very shallow, and doesn’t come up high enough on my foot, plus it’s narrow even in Wide. The tongue is also very short. I wore it for a few hours and it hurt my Achilles and the ball of my foot. Going back to Zappo’s.

I bought 3 different sizes of this shoe, my typical running shoe size, one size smaller and one size smaller normal width. All had the same problem with the heel cup being too large.

The sneakers were too narrow. I would recommend them to anyone who fits into a narrow sneaker.

Normally don't have any problems with fit and comfort in New Balance athletic shoes. My problem with these are the fact that I've had them only 2-3 months and there is already a hole in the area that runs around the foot right behind the lace hole. I had to bend the plastic area that surrounds the top lace hole and now it has a hole in the fabric!

This shoe was wide enough for my bunions and wide feet in a wide width. I usually need extra wide. However I under pronate (supinate) and although this was for a neutral runner, I could feel that very shortly I would be turning these shoes to the outside making them unstable for me.

I ordered these shoes in a X-Wide. There's absolutely no way this shoe was true to size. I normally wear NB in a Wide but this time I decided that I wanted a little more room. Big surprise, I got a lot less room. Disappointed!!

It's hard to imagine a more unattractive design! What has happened to New Balance?

The 840v2 was a perfect shoe for my hallux limitus and neuroma. But the 840v3 is not. The shoe appears to be much more cheaply made. The sole is too flexible and the entire forefront is a light mesh which will most likely have a hole from the big toe in no time. I do not recommend this shoe.

After examine these closer my orthtotics do not sit flat, they rock back and forth in the shoe. The 9 is too long and the 8.5 too short Saucony echelon can fit orthotics properly so why can't new balance?

After closer examination these do not fit my orthotics. The orthotics rock in them which means these sneakers are still too narrow in the midfoot . Saucony echelon can handle an orthotic properly , why can't new balance? These also are a little long in the 9 but too short in 8.5

This is a whole lot of shoe. It comes up high on the sides and the top. In the shoe's defense, I have narrow feet (9.5 or 10N), and thought I could get by with the regular width. In some shoes I can, especially if the laces are super adjustable. But not this one. Not only that, but the shoe felt larger than the 10 I ordered. I usually run between sizes 9.5 and 10, and in this shoe I got the 10. Maybe the 9.5 would have been better. However, the toe box was huge! Not just side to side, but the space where the top of the shoe should come close to resting on the top part of your foot was simply gigantic. If you have larger toes, this may be a blessing. But the final downside to this shoe was the color. I ordered the Droplet/Basin and it looks almost white. Maybe some buyers can tell this from the picture, but I didn't realize just how light it was. I did go one star up for comfort, because you just can't beat New Balance's support. All this said, I remain loyal to Zappos for almost all of my shoe needs -- what a treat to try on shoes at home and be able to easily return them when things like this happen.
I'd also recommend:
Nike, Naturalizer

I have been a loyal NB wearer for over a decade, but have been struggling in recent years to find NB shoes that work for me since my preferred model line was essentially phased out. These did not work - the material around the base of the laces (not the mesh, but the leather-like material) did not flex thus and dug sharply into the top of my foot. Other than that fatal flaw, they were cushy. The thunder/galaxy color is nice for those of us who don't want neon shoes. These shoes looked to be the closest to what I USED to wear from NB. Also, I usually size up to 10B in NB and these fit better in 9.5B... the 10B were too large. Anyway, after much trial and error with several NB models lately, for the first time in 10+ years, I'm finally going to order a different brand of running shoes and give something else a shot.

this shoe is going back to the store! This is an upgrade?? Awful!! Feels like I have a brick on my foot. No bend, no comfort! My feet felt tired after only running a few minutes. Went back to the old New Balance shoe...what a night and day difference. No longer a New Balance customer.
