I love the light weight of this shoe as living in the south, the heat build up in all leather shoes is tremendous. However, I was disappointed that the toe box area is too shallow to accommodate my custom othopedic inserts. I wish New Balance would correct that as the original style 840 has the higher toe box.

I have lymphadema and already a wide foot and high instep. I have a hard time finding shoes and these worked for me. Only negative is my feet got really wet walking through wet grass, and in Seattle wet is normal. Lots of compliments on these, I wish they were black instead of dark gray but the pink is a nice pop of color. New balance needs to do more color pops with wide shoes but glad to have found these. I prefer a black base with color which is almost never found in my size so these are close to perfect for me

Very comfortable sneakers..been using every day at work, affordable price plus the material itself is very good.. highly recommended to people who work on retail business who always in the floor..

When the 840 disappeared for a while I was very disappointed because these shoes worked well for my feet. I love walking but I have some age-related foot issues. I could walk long distances without any pain. These shoes work well with or without orthotics. So I was delighted to learn that New Balance came out with a newer version. They run a tad bigger than the earlier version. I measured my old 840 version to the newer ones and the newer ones definitely run larger. There is more room than I like in the heel area but I'm hoping that tying them snugly will do the trick and wearing thicker athletic socks. I would still recommend these shoes as they are a stable walking shoes and finally New Balance is making shoes like these in great colors. They look great!

Not enough room in the toe box, returned them. New Balance makes the medium width smaller now because I can no longer fit into it. yet my current medium width are like slippers.

First pair started to wear and showed year marks w/in two weeks but I live over 2 hours away from the store, so it wasn't worth the drive to return. Not as comfortable as previous purchases and I have been a loyal NB client since 1999. Second pair arrived and is not much different than the first. Comfort level is nothing like NB used to be. Inferior materials and it may be time to look for another go to shoe for this avid runner.
