I read all the reviews about size so I thought I would get it right. I am between a 7½ and 8, closer to a 7½, so that is what I ordered. I knew they would be hard to get on, as I have a high arch, but it was ridiculous! I did finally get them on twice, but it took forever and was ridiculous. It took about five minutes of tugging and sweating! They may have stretched, but I was not willing to take that risk. So, I am sending them back and will try the size 8. Once I did get the size 7½ on, they fit fine. It was the getting them on that was the issue! They are beautiful, so I am crossing my fingers that the size 8 works! I ordered the cognac, which is a great color!

I got the Melissa buttons in cognac. I am 5 feet tall and they are just the right height. They are super high quality leather. I had no problem slipping the boot on, I know there has been other reviews where that was an issue. Plenty of room to tuck pants in, I can't wait to wear them out! Only drawback is that the sole is smooth. I'll have to get a non skid sole to put in the bottom. So, for that reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. I do believe they run a 1/2 size large. I am usually a 5.5-6 the 6 was huge. My heel lifted and I immediately sent them back. You want them to be snug to prevent chafing, but loose enough you don't get sores. As always, Zappos is great with returns an exchanges. I tried 2 pairs of Frye boots before finding my 'true love' with these. Why buy shoes anywhere else?

I ordered my usual size, 9.5 and they were really roomy and floppy. A half size smaller felt really narrow and constricting but I decided to give them a go and they did stretch enough to wear thinner socks. I'm hoping by next winter I'll be able to cram in my usual Smartwool socks. A sales clerk told me that Frye runs big and not to buy my usual size because they'd feel like boats. Glad I listened and avoided a sloppy fit. Love the fawn color. Goes with everything.

My heel slipped so much in these I had to return them. I wear an 8, sometimes a 7.5, and bought these in an 8 because my foot is quite wide and I have a very high instep. Boots went on like a charm and were comfortable in width, just too long in the toe box. I could have lived with that if not for huge heel slippage. Cute boot, I got the fawn which is an olive color.

I've always wanted a pair of Frye boots. Unfortunately I have to send these back. My heel slips out when I walk and I can't go to a narrow because it fits perfectly on the rest of my foot. So sad.

True to size. Comfortable. I love them. Only one complaint: small cut in the leather.

I got these in fawn and they're a gorgeous, unique colour that matches all. I've gotten many compliments. The size was true, but I had to use a shoehorn for the first week to get them on. The price has been raised since I purchased them. I wonder about the leather sole's durability, but love them too much to care right now.

These boots are so well made and adorable...perfect for a good daily use boot. Unfortunately they are going back because there is just too much of a gap between the boot and my calf. I have to say that they are perhaps the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever put on, even more than Cole Haan (which I am loyal to). I would definitely recommend Frye boots if you have an average calf size and are looking for style. One drawback: these have no traction on the bottom and could potentially be slippery on ice or other surfaces that are slick.

I love these boots! I ordered a half size smaller and they fit nicely. Like someone else had mentioned, however, they are a little difficult to get on. But once they are on, they feel great! Love the chocolate brown color too.

For as much as I spent on these boots, my calves hardly fit in them. I have larger than average calves, so tucking in a pair of jeans to these is out of the question. I still wear them because they are so comfortable, the leather is beautiful and they look great under a pair of boot cut jeans. The leather will give a bit after much wear, causing bunching around the ankle, but I pretty much play in the dirt with these, so I'm not too concerned about that.

I splurged for a pair of red Carson's last year so I expected this boot to be just as fabulous. The leather wasn't even close to being as soft but the color (natural brush off) is amazing (just like the picture) and style is what I've always been looking for. Very casual but chic. The sizing does run large but I think they'll be too small if I size down. I plan on adding a foot cushion inside anyway as the heel area has a bulge that can felt that's a bit annoying. I'm 5'2 and the height is just fine, it doesn't reach my knee like other shorties said. I have larger calves and it will be a struggle, if not nearly impossible, to fit jeans inside. It will only work if they stretch some. I wouldn't have even thought about buying them anywhere other than Zappos - they are always wonderful.

This boot is very classy but also casual looking. I am 5'3 and have athletic calves (14), and there is definitely no room for anything other than the skinniest of skinny jeans or tights. It is also extremely difficult to get the boot on and off, but the 7.5 size feels like an 8 in any other shoe so it won't work to get a bigger size in order to get more calf room in the boot. This boot feels like it will last forever! Once it's on, its very very comfortable. The hard part is just getting them on and off. Hopefully they will stretch out a little bit.

Finally the search for the perfect boot is over! I wanted a high quality boot with a timeless style that I could also actually go horseback riding with. Well, I haven't ridden with them yet but I plan to and I think these will work and will clean up well for regular wear. I have a really hard time finding boots because I have pretty thin calves. These fit perfectly over skinny jeans and maybe even with tights. A little gap but something I might be able to have taken in if the shaft stretches at all. I have tried the Frye Harness boot in the past but ended up selling them on eBay because I just couldn't break them in. The Melissa Button was much softer and more flexible. The toe box feels a little tight but I wore them all day today...even on an easy walk/hike in the woods and they felt very comfortable. I am usually a size 10 or 11 (probably a true 10.5 although very few shoes come in that size). I ordered the 9.5 and they seem to be just right. If I got the 10 I worry they would end up stretching too much but I felt that the 9.5 would end up perfect after a brief break in period. I love the Cognac color too. A really nice, medium brown. Not too red. Yes, the bottom is a little slippery. But I like the leather soles and they do get roughed up with wear. There is also some heel slip but it is my understanding that it's normal for boots like this. I don't find it uncomfortable but I do like wearing clogs so maybe it's me! I didn't have too much trouble getting them on either as others mentioned. They need a little shove but no major struggle. Good luck in your boot shopping. I recommend giving these a shot. They are really gorgeous!

Better looking in person! So happy that I pulled the trigger on my first pair of Frye's. I have thinner calves and these boots fit perfectly and do not gap at the top, though with enough room for skinny jeans. Buy them; you won't regret it!

They are fabulous. It did take three tries to get the correct size. I read other reviews and ordered one size smaller. I usually wear a 9.5 but ordered a 9. Unfortunately because they are pull on, I just could not get them on. I reordered a 9.5, then one foot felt larger than the other. I was determined to have these boots, so I ordered them one more time. Like they say, "3 times the charm." They are perfect and I can't wait for the weather to change.

I've been wanting a new pair of boots forever and I've always liked Frye's styles. They do run probably half a size bigger and they're more narrow than I thought they'd be. They are also slightly loose in the ankle. Despite the fact that these boots probably are slightly too tall for me, I kept them. They are quality boots, leather and make. Color and style are great, you can wear them with jeans and skirts. I'm about 5'2 and the boots don't look funny on me but they would look perfect if they were 1/2 an inch shorter. Shorter people can still pull them off. You really can't beat the quality.

I ordered the chocolate vintage boot. When they arrived they looked plasticy, cheap. They also were kind of baggy and narrow. I'm returning and exchanging for a different color and going up half a size so we will see.

I loved these boots, but found them nearly impossible to get on my feet. I was told to use plastic (!) over my feet, or a boot length shoe horn, but it became a huge struggle. My feel are not wide, but I do have a good instep/arch - though it should not have been so difficult to wear. Once on, after the struggle, they were great! I was fortunate to find the same style with a back zipper, and this saved the day.

This color is actually a lot darker than what is pictured online. More of a deep brown. I love the look and feel though.

I absolutely always wear a size 9M in Frye boots. These in a size 9M are very tight, esp. in the toe box. When I held them up to my other Frye boots, sole to sole and toe to toe, they were noticeably shorter in length, and narrower in the toes.

I really wanted to like these boots! They are gorgeous and the quality is amazing. In short, do not order these if you have muscular legs, they will not fit comfortably. The quality is amazing, however, and I will be searching for another Frye boot that is more accommodating for my larger calves.

They were slightly long in the foot. Awkward to walk in, since there is no real sole for grip. Even after a year of rough 'n tough wear, they still slip and slide as much as when I bought them. They slouch slightly, and make your feet look very long. Although I am a size 11, I do not notice this issue in my other Frye boots. The color (cognac) is beautiful, but I wish I hadn't kept these. They're too awkward and my mind is on my feet all day.

I had been coveting a pair of these for SO long, and I finally took the plunge when I saw some of them on sale. I ordered my normal size, even though I had read many reviews suggesting to order a 1/2 size up. I ordered the dark brown brush off leather. I have to say that they looked very different than they had on line when they arrived. However, the fit was great and I had minimal difficulty getting them on and off. I'm sure this would have been non-existent with age and wear. But the look and texture of the leather was the deal-breaker for me. Not only were they vastly different from the picture, the leather seemed stiff rather than supple. They still smelled fantastic though! I wanted to exchange them to see if a different hide would look better, but they no longer have this type of leather. I don't quite understand, but dark brown brush off leather is apparently different than dark brown brush off? Still doesn't make sense to me, but sadly, they are going back.

Beautiful leather, but tough to pull on and I have narrow feet and calves, and quite a hard footbed, so not too comfortable. I would say about half this would be a more reasonable price.

I just wasn't crazy about this boot. I read one review that stood out to me and should have listened: this boot doesn't look great on long legs. I'm 5'9" with long legs and they hit me at an unflattering point. Overall, the shape of this boot head on kind of looks like a rain boot. I think it'd look good on a shorter person with thinner legs but it just didn't work for me. I exchanged for the Shirley Strappy and I'm thrilled with that purchase. Frye boots are beautiful and feel like they'll last forever. And of course, I'd like to note: Zappos customer service is amazing. They will always have my business because of this!
