I had my eye on these boots for a year and finally bought them. I usually wear a 9 and ended up with the 9 although I could have probably also gone with the 8 1/2. If you're in between sizes, try both. The chocolate vintage leather is great - goes with everything. I did get rubber backing put on the soles to protect the sole and provide better traction. But love the boots!

I ordered these in the afternoon and promptly received them on my doorstep within 24 hours! (How does Zappos do it?!) I typically wear an 8 or 8.5 in shoes, so I ordered an 8 and they fit perfect with trouser socks or tights. I ordered the cognac color and the leather is fairly true to the pictures and so lovely in person! The Melissa Button boot is perfect - looks a little bit Western, but also has that riding boot/equestrian look so I think these will be quite versatile for my wardrobe. I have fairly narrow feet and very skinny calves (14.5" circumference). I was hesitant to order a pull-on boot vs. a zip-up, but this style is actually nice and fitted and not very loose around my calves. The first few times you wear these, it will be difficult to pull them on and off, but it does get easier. The bottoms of the soles are extremely slick, especially on carpet so I will be applying some traction strips. I also have high arches, but so far these insoles are comfortable for me. What you hear about FRYE boots are true - they are well made and classic boots that will last! These are a bit pricey for me, but worth it for the craftsmanship!

Adore these boots! I was debating between these and the cognac color. And these were by far the winner! Such a chic yet southern look. Could dress them up or down! True to size. I have muscular calves, so they're a little snug at first. But they stretch out nicely after a few wears. Zappos' fast shipping made the wait so much easier (all of about 1 day after order).

Best boots ever! I got these in cognac and they are beautiful; the color goes with everything! Will be getting the black soon.

I never usually write reviews of online purchases but felt I should for these boots because my experience differed a bit from those reviews already posted. First, a lot of the reviews say to order a half size down. I didn't and went ahead and ordered my normal size. When I tried them on the boots slipped a bit in the heels when I walked. I was instantly disappointed thinking I should have ordered down until I went online to see if this was normal and sure enough, even according to Frye's website, heel slippage is normal and should decrease as the boots are broken in. They also said that sometimes this is mistaken for the boot being too big and this leads folks into buying a smaller size which actually leads to blisters and general uncomfortableness. Perhaps this is why many say to order down. Second, a lot of reviewers say that these boots are difficult to put on. I didn't find this to be the case at all. They slipped right onto my feet as though they were made for me! My calves are larger than average and the boots actually fit, which totally surprised me. This is never the case. Finally, while I lusted over these boots for three years, I constantly read reviews and thought everyone was giving such high reviews to justify spending so much on a boot! Once my boots came in, I knew this was not the case at all. These boots are totally worth the money! They are gorgeous and fit like a dream. If you are hesitant to spend the money, just do it. These boots will be with you for a lifetime!

I love these boots. They are super comfortable and go with so much. I receive so many compliments on them, my mom and mother-in-law also got a pair! I have very small calves and they are still a little bigger than I prefer, but it's a common problem I have with boots so it's not a huge deal. My mom has a pair of Frye boots from the '70s, she said her Melissa's feel just as comfortable after a few months of wear as her 40 year broken in boots do. I ordered an 8, but I should have stuck with 7 1/2 (my normal size). Other than that, I can't say enough great things about these boots!

If you are at home wondering if you should finally bite the bullet and buy a pair of Frye boots, do it. And do it through Zappos! Frye boots are the utmost in quality, style, and longevity. The Melissa Button is no different. They are fairly slim in the calf (I have small calves, they have space for jeans and then some) and I wear a 9 when I usually wear a 9½ (they stretch over time, so I would suggest trying out a slightly smaller size than usual). They are simply beautiful. These are more comfortable than ones that I have tried on in the past due to the more structured footbed and heel. Try them out; with Zappos' amazingly fast shipping and returns you have nothing to lose!

After reading other reviews, I was prepared to find these boots difficult to get on since I have high arches, but, Wow, it proved almost impossible! I found some tall thin socks and pushed and pushed and finally got my feet into them and it was well worth it! They are fantastic. After taking them on and off several times I am finding that each time requires less effort. If you love the look of these boots and have high arches, my advice is not to give up! The color Cognac is beautiful. I can't wait to wear them all winter.

As stated by all other reviewers, these boots are terrific. I initially bought the dark brown brush off color at a dept store. The color on the brush off was beautiful but the leather had a bit of a shine to it. The leather also seemed a little stiffer/harder. I then noticed how many varieties of colors were available on Zappos, and realized I preferred the dark brown vintage boot. The vintage is a deep brown, but it is softer more matte color. I also found the boots to be more comfortable. They were much easier to slide on and had more give than the stiffer brush off boots. I think it has to do with the softer leather without the harder finish. These boots look great with EVERYTHING; skirts, pants, dressy, casual, and they are so comfortable. Can't say enough about them. I am 5'5 and the boots hit a couple inches below my knee.

After wanting these for many months, I decided to purchase them while I was still on summer vacation because of the lack of spending money once school starts. I bought the color Fawn (it's beautiful) because I wanted something other than the usual brown. I already own a pair of campus 14ls so I already had a good idea of Frye's sizing (ordered my true size of 7.5). I have just worn the boots around the house so far but they are very comfortable and I had no trouble getting them on and off. I'm a runner so my calves aren't that small, but I have plenty of room in the boots for skinny jeans. I was also worried about the width being too narrow (I have toe problems) but that is also fine. I love these boots and can't wait to wear them this fall! The leather is absolutely beautiful and they seem well worth the money.

Had been looking for a pair of pull on boots with stylish simple lines and I found them! No blisters, no rubbing, fit like a dream. Will take some breaking in but will get better with age.

I have these boots in brown and black. They are the best boot. Extremely comfortable and they go with everything! Definitely worth the price!

Holy gorgeous boots! I got these in the Chocolate Vintage Leather and they are just so beautiful. This is my fifth pair of Fryes. After the fourth pair, I told myself I wouldn't buy any more...but then I saw these. They are my new favorite! I cannot wait until it cools down so I can wear them. I may never take them off.

I wanted a pair of white leather boots that were not stark white and could be worn in different seasons. These boots hit the mark; light weight, roomy, and dress them up or down they will look great. I can't wait to hang out with my new boots. I am a Frye boots woman as I have fell in love with many of the different boot styles. Oh, don't forget the next day delivery by Zappos, love having my anxiety decreased. Thanks Zappos.

I bought these boots a year ago and they are still my favorite shoes. Honestly, they are the only shoes I've been able to wear all day and stay comfortable (except tennis shoes of course). I'm 5'9", thin, and wear size 10 shoes. I tend to have issues with most shoes being too loose and not enough cushion. I was hesitant to spend the money at first, but I'm so glad that I did. They were comfortable from the very first day and get better with time. There really was no 'break in' period for me. They did loosen up a bit but nothing that changed the fit. I do wear them with short socks to prevent my feet from getting too sweaty. The quality is amazing and I get compliments on them all the time. Overall, great boots! I will definitely buy this brand again!

I'm going to return these boots because one is clearly bigger/more stretched out, maybe? than the other. Tried to see if I could ignore it but couldn't take it, so they are going back. If Zappos takes them -- the soles seemed really scuffed for a couple meters of strolling, or maybe they were previously tried on and sent back and I didn't notice before I put them on because I was so excited to have them. I finally found tall boots that I thought were unique, yet versatile and classy. And they are very beautiful boots - I love the finish of the leather. Hopefully a different pair fits uniformly.

Love these boots! My 1st Frye and I'm hooked. The leather is gorgeous and very well made. Had to use slippery socks since I have a high arch but easy to pull on. They are super comfy and perfect height/ width. I am 5'4" and a size 8 1/2. I have athletic calves so I was worried but they fit perfect. Worth every penny! I ordered the dark brown vintage leather. Also ordered the dark brown soft vintage and they were too dark and too narrow. Kept the regular vintage. I really want another pair!

I love these boots. They are gorgeous and were comfortable the first time I put them on and get even more comfortable every time I wear them. I feel guilty about neglecting all my other boots in favor of these! They are well worth the price. I wear them with jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses, you name it, they work. Now I have my eye on the Harlow campus boots.

I've been eyeing Frye boots for years, and my husband surprised me with these for our anniversary (he's a keeper!). They are gorgeous, so comfortable, and classic. I originally ordered a different color, but sent them back for these. They're a rich brown matte finish, not too light or dark. I wore them with an orange dress to a wedding at a ranch and they looked perfect! I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 and the Frye 8 fits me perfectly. I have small calves, but these don't gap too much. Highly recommended.

After ordering a half size down and agonizing over the still present heel slippage, I decided to take the chance and keep the shoes rather than ordering a full size down. Verdict? I probably could have handled a half size smaller but the leather does mold to your feet and the slippage has minimized after several nights of heavy dancing. The leather has stretched as well, hence my assumption a full size smaller would have worked. These boots are beautiful and well made - there's no argument they're well worth the money. I wore them out of the box, sans socks, and was able to dance/walk/spin/skip in comfort all night long. A slight hot spot appeared from friction but the leather has continued to soften and a bandaid does the trick while my feel get adjusted to being fully covered. Great purchase - I'm a Frye fan for life!

I just received the vintage leather chocolate and love them. I didn't even attempt to put them on without the plastic bag trick having owned Frye's in the past. I range between an 8.5-9 and ordered an 8.5 which fit perfectly. They are absolutely beautiful and can't wait to show them off! I'm rockin' them in my P.J's right now and I don't care. Don't be apprehensive - just order them. You will wear them forever and the more beat up they get the better they look and more comfortable they become.
