I own a pair of these in 40. They FIT, but my heel is still feeling slippage. No matter what I try. Sock thicknesses, foot pad tape on the heel, etc. They just slip, likee blister-coming-slipping. I have no clue why I'm writing this "review," I love these but do they require a "break in" to get rid of the weird little heel slippage? It's mystifying, because they fit PERFECTLY in every other way. Yes I've thought of ordering down a size but I am POSITIVE I wouldn't be able to get my foot in there at all. I wear anything from a 9-10 in all other shoes. Strange, I know. Hah. Well thanks all. Glad we had this little chat. :-)

Five stars but I'm returning them.....I purchased a pair of these in Bordeaux last year. Love them. Super comfortable and supportive, warm without being overly sweaty or hot. They were my go to shoe on our last trip which involved miles of cobblestone, wet pavement, city walking and dirt roads. Wiped them down and gave a bit of a conditioning shine and they are good as new. So, I figured I'd get myself another pair in a different color which Hubby could put under the Christmas tree. I ordered the Indigo and the Grey for comparison. Bummer!!!!! The Indigo for all intensive purposes looks black. I guess if you wore one true black and one Indigo you might notice a difference. The grey are really more of a brownish color. I double checked my own assessment by asking a couple of other people. And yup, the Indio was judged to be black and the grey was judged to be brown. Taos isn't doing themselves any favors by putting brown laces in each of the different colors. I'm going to try the Teal color - in the hopes that it might be more blue/grey (as it appears in the image) than actual greeen/blue.

I'm always worried that boots will be to narrow, because they usually are. I have a slightly wide foot and high arch, so boots can be tricky. These are as nice as they look. Sturdy, but cute and nice leather. Perfect height heel supports the arch. Plenty of room in the toe box. I'm 7.5-8, ordered the 38, it feels pretty true to size... there's a little extra room at the heel, but it's not a half size too big... 37 would be too small.

I love, love, love these boots!! Still can't believe I spent so much on 1 pair of shoes but these may be THE most comfortable pair of footwear I have EVER owned! Incredible ankle support, good arch support & generally very sturdy. Will be great for a Minnesota winter. Plus, I get lots of compliments on the awesome teal color. Totally unique look ;-) I normally wear 8 wide or 8.5 & got these in sz. 40 & they fit perfectly. Enough room for my wide feet but not too long. Overall, an amazing pair of boots!!

The leather is soft and supple. The red is beautiful - rich, yet subtle with a slightly distressed look - perfect for fall and winter. My narrow heels did not slip, which is rare for a boot until it is worn in. The laces also meant I could make them fit along my skinny ankles and calves perfectly when wearing tights and also loosen them a bit to tuck in skinny jeans. I really wanted to love them but the lack of arch support means they are going back. Usually with a heel this height or a bit higher the shank of the shoe sufficiently supports my foot along the arch. I wear stacked heel Fryes and cowboy boots comfortably all the time without the need for cushioned arch support. But even replacing the removable insoles with a variety of different orthotic inserts couldn't keep my right foot from pronating inward. I'm sure the fault lies with my flat feet and not the boots. The boots run large. My foot was swimming in the size 37's (but my arches felt fine) and even with very thick wooly socks the full size smaller 36's were comfortably roomy. The Bordeaux color was very brown and not the deep cordovan with hints of black that the Zappos rep I spoke with described. I wasn't disappointed in the color for long since the nice folks at Zappos sent out the beautiful red ones right away - it's just too bad that my feet let me down. I'm on my 6th order in 2 weeks trying to find a boot that works after no luck in stores (which don't stock much in sizes 5.5-6). Without Zappos' free shipping and returns policy and huge selection, I'd have given up long ago.

I love these boots. Unfortunately I had to return them. I typically wear a size 42 shoe and a size 42 boot. This is the first time I have ever had to move up to a 43. The 42 was too narrow and too short for me. But as far as quality, they are well made and super cute. I definitely recommend them, as long as you find your right size! ; )

I did my homework before buying these shoes..I read many reviews on many sites..I've never spent this much on a pair of boots and wanted it to be right..I'm an 8.5 in most shoes with a narrower foot. I ordered a 39 and a 40 to be sure 1 fit. The 40 was so big I could slip it off without unzipping it. The 39 was so perfect, like it was custom made for my foot. I got them in gray and they simply stunning. The workmanship is like none I've ever seen..from the quality leather to the hardware to the buckles and even the eyelets and laces are impeccable. I wore these the day I got them for 9 hrs. and my feet have never been happier.. This is one of those times you get what you pay for. Snaps for Taos Crave!

These boots are fantastic. They are so soft and comfortable and zip on and off easily. I bought the Bordeaux color in size 40 (I normally wear an 8.5). They have scuffed a bit and I found that Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe polish in Chili is the perfect color match.

LOVE these boots & always get compliments. Comfy right out of the box. Just trooped around Alaska for several hours with no issues and with warm feet. ?? Bought the blue & hope to snag another color soon.

I love these boots! Stylish and very comfortable too! My daughter has already told me she is stealing them when her foot grows a size! I wear a US size 7 and a 37 in Danskos and the 37 fit me perfectly. I got the Bordeaux (soooo cute!) and already want another pair in black or maybe gray.

Love, love, love the Taos Crave boot! I first bought them in teal. They were so comfortable and cute that a snapped up the red Craves when I saw them on sale at a local shoe store. This boot is in such demand it never goes on sale! Whenever I wear these the compliments are non-stop. This is by far he most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

I haven't owned a pair of boots like this since the 1990s but they are awesome! Super comfortable with nice support. Cant wait to rock them with leggings and a dress!

I love my new boots. Color is what I expected. Style is very cute, I wear with jeans and other slim fitting pants, probably would look cute with a skirt or shorts, but not warm enough to try that out. Comfort is great, can wear to work all day and into the evening. I treated them for the wet weather here in NorCal this year, getting a lot of use out of their boots before the warm weather is upon us. Don't hesitate to try these cute and stylish boots.

Love, love love these boots-thinking about ordering another color. They are comfy right out of the box and I love the heel height which is just enough to give you a lift but low enough to be a comfortable walking boot. A slight caveat...they are heavy, so if a lighter boot is what you are looking for they may not be for you. They are divine for me!

These boots are super awesome. Just the kind of style I was looking for. I'm a size 9 and love that these make my feet look a bit smaller. The side zipper are perfect for easy slip out. Totally recommend trying this out.

I love these boots so much, I own two pairs: one in Bordeaux and one in Teal. Beautifully made, and comfortable right out of the box. I ended up returning my first pair to get a size larger, but other than that they are wonderful boots - highly recommended. Just beware, you might end up with more than one pair :-)

LOVE these. I got them about 2 months ago and wear them almost daily. They have been through rain, sleet, and snow and are holding up well (even looking better with a little wear and tear). Super super comfortable, very sturdy, obvious quality. Would definitely recommend!!

First let me comment on the color - I ordered the GRAY. I wanted a brown but the two browns weren't what I wanted. The gray in the picture didn't look gray at all so I took a chance. It's definately not gray - but rather a wonderful black/brown. It will go well with either color. As for fit - I am a true 8 ½ N. The 39 fits perfectly after I pulled up the laces. I also liked the option of adding my own inner sole under the removable one but didn't need to after tightening the laces. Awesome style and very comfortable even though I haven't worn them for any length of time. I'd love the red also!

These boots are just the fun style I was looking for. They are such a pretty color, and very comfortable. I was surprised at how "small" my foot looks in them!

This might be the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I have a narrow, low volume foot and have custom orthotics. I have difficulty finding a shoe that fits, let alone one that I can wear for hours shopping and walking . Got the black which I can wear with my black leggings and skinny jeans. Love this shoe & highly recommend.

Zero break in time. Perfect fit. Comfortable from the second I put them on. I have over 40 pairs of boots and these instantly became my favorite. I bought the teal, and it does border on forest green, which is OK. They go with anything you would wear black with. Fantastic with jean shorts. Well built and solid. I already added two more colors to my cart. Well worth the money.

I LOVE THESE BOOTS!!!! I am a boot girl. I own many different styles and brands. Taos are hand's down my favorite and the crave boot is by far my most favorite boot. I wish I could have in every single color. Be prapared if you buy these. You won't want to take them off.

I slipped one of these on at my desk after they were delivered, and it felt like a slipper! I have fussy feet, and need very comfortable shoes/boots. These are perfect. Ultra comfortable, even to do some walking in that first day I wore them, the side zipper makes them a breeze to put on, and they look great. I bought the teal ones and they are perfect with jeans. They are my very favorite boots ever!

Fantastic boots. I already own the blue ink and really wanted the grey. I had seen them in a local store and they had sold out in my size. So comfortable and stylish. Thinking about getting another color too. My size 8 foot looks really slim and smaller in this boot.

Totally in love with these! They felt a bit loose around the heel, but I only needed to tighten the laces over the foot to keep the heel in place. I did not lace them all the way up, yet I was still able to get them snug enough to keep the heel from flopping. I am a 6.5M, s getting a decent fit in 37 is unusual for me because they run a half size larger or more. I prefer more length and width in the toe box for comfort, so I never size down to 36. These boots are comfortable right out of the box. I haven't gone walking in them yet, but I think they will break in well without causing pain. They look really great with jeans, and I bet they would look super cool with the right skirt and jacket.
