I wanted to love these shoes. Really did! I have them on right now, but they've got to go back. I need a women's 13 but usually have to wear men's 12, which can be tricky. My foot's not particularly narrow, so that's not a problem. These shoes fit perfectly. They are the perfect length--not too long, but plenty of room for my big toe not to hit the end--a very big deal! They are the perfect width--good support without a squeeze! The traction seems to be EXACTLY what I'm going to need on the trail--supper grippy. Even like the looks--not something I can always say. The only problem is the painful lumps under my arch. What the...? I don't mind a subtle rise in the arch, but nothing abrupt! It's not arch support, it's like walking on two miniature golf ball halves stuck in your shoes, which throws my feet out to the sides, making me walk on the outer edges of my feet. That would KILL my knees in the long run. Can't do it. These are going back. :(

If you run in the mountains, these are the best shoe option out there, I have tried many and theses are by far the best. I won't even consider another shoe as long as the Speedgoat is available. I bought five pairs this year.

I've bought and used dozens of trail running shoes over the years and these have been, hands-down, my absolute favorite. I'm on my 3rd pair. This past winter I spent in the Palm Springs area and used the shoes 2-3 times a week for 5-10 mile trail runs on the mountain trails. These shoes are super light yet so stable and have the most amazing traction. I have found that they hold up fairly well, maybe because they have never gotten wet. I wouldn't use them for everyday running and walking as they are too "sticky" on pavement.

I love everything about this shoe. I run with them on both pavement and trails. This shoe is clearly above anything Nike or Adidas is putting out, or has put out in the last 10 years. You can tell this shoe was designed for running, and not just for looks. Although, they do look fantastic!

It is the fourth pair of Hoka Cliftons that I've had and quality is consistent. Use them for all my long runs.

So far, I have had the speedgoat for a week and I must say, this shoe is incredible. I took it on some of the hardest trails I could find and it performed perfectly. I only have about 50 miles in them so I can't really comment on durability but they seem very durable. This is definitely my go to trail shoe for training and racing from now on. The only problem that I have with this shoe is that I had to go a full size up. I usually wear an 11, so I bought a 11.5 thinking it would give me enough room for my foot to slide on the downhill but it was too tight and I had to return them and get a size 12. Other than that, this is the perfect trail shoe for MY foot type. I have a very skinny foot and if my foot was any wider I would not be able to run in the speedgoat. Thank god because that would be a tragedy. I sincerely feel bad for people with normal feet who can't run in this awesome shoe. Hoka, make a wider version so everyone can run in this shoe!!!!!!

I run in the same mountains that Karl Meltzer does near Salt Lake City and these are designed for just that, rugged mountain running steep mountain running. It is great for both the ups and downs. Stability, traction and plenty of cushion for letting loose running down ski resorts and single track. I used to think Hokas were only for endurance, but I primarily run in the 3-12 mile range on steep terrain and have tried everything aimed at this market. These are the best!

These are, by far, the best trail shoes I've ever had. If Hoka doesn't release the Speedgoat 2 pretty soon, I'll be looking for additional pairs on the black market.

comfortable but just not for me. the tongue needs more padding. felt a little wider than i'd like. i have a narrow foot though. i run in Clifton 2 and 3 and love those. i will say that i did not run in these, tried them on and just didn't like the feel. felt unstable.

I'm one of the odd people who have feet that are perfect for this shoe. For me personally the toebox is great, especially coming from shoes with much wider toeboxes that felt very sloppy. That being said, my toes taper quite a bit from big toe to pinky and my pinky toe ends across from about where my big toe begins. If my toes were even a touch more squared off these shoes would feel way different. The fit overall "fits like a glove"... again this is coming from another well known trail shoe that I had to work hard at getting a good fit before every run, trying different lacing patterns even 200 miles in, adding arch support etc. One of my favorite things about these is the bit of arch support. Three runs in and I don't feel the need to add any orthotics at all, I can just run and forget they are on my feet. Another thing I love about these, and it's a little thing, they don't fill up with sand and grit like my other long run shoes (which has a very open mesh all around) do. I wish I had found these much sooner as my only complaint is I'm not sure I can totally be switched over to them fully by the time a December race rolls around. I would recommend these to anyone who has a certain foot shape that wants more cushion. I really want to get another pair in-case they disappear.

This shoe takes my pronation off of the list list of run challenges to overcome. Speedgoat works for my feet and joints like no other shoe I've tried. Note to Hoka: If you intend to discontinue the speedgoat, please let me know in advance so that I can buy a lifetime supply!

I wear a size 13 in all my other shoes, but in this one I had to go up to a 14. Unfortunately I also gained some width that I really didn't want, but I can live with it. If you wear smaller than a 12 you might be able to get away with going up 1/2 size. You feel like you are running on a platform because of the maximum stability and cushioning, but they are so comfortable you quit thinking about it. This equates to less fatigue on your runs. Great shoe, wish my feet were smaller.

I bought these for trail running and they are AWESOME. Super Happy with them so far. I have 150 miles on them and they are still doing great. So comfortable I use them to run on pavement as well which is causing them to wear a little quicker, I knew it would happen since they are a trail specific shoe so I am ok with it. Great shoe!

I had been wearing a size 12 in the Speedgoat but went up to a 12.5 and they fit very well. Normal size for Hokas is a 12 but the added room helps for longer distances.

Got this one after a month of Hoka Clayton. I got this for my trail runs in Sun Valley, Idaho and I have to say that it was great!!! All around very good, light, great cushioning on rocky trails, great traction, - it really felt like a tank on trails without weighting like a tank.

Bought these online and bought the size that I always get for shoes, but these feel very narrow and run small. I'm going to keep them as I can't return them, but I believe my feet will suffer from the small, narrow shoe. I'll get a half to a full size bigger next time. Wish they had a wider toe box too, which is especially important in a trail running shoe to prevent black toe nails. With a correct size shoe for your feet, these shoes would be great on the trails.

Great shoe for all trail. Excels on technical mountain single track and suburban crushed gravel trail. Good cushioning without sacrificing feel or traction.

Wow. These are super soft and don't seem to sacrifice by being sloppy. They definitely learn the fatigue of runs.

I read all the negative reviews on the Hoka Speedgoat for some time now and put off buying a pair as I could not imagine all those people were wrong. Well they were wrong. I had none of the problems that were listed in any way. The pinky toe pressure - nada, the instability - nada, the slippage - nada. The shoe was right on size without going up and fits like a glove. No hot spots, no shifting, just perfect. I think many of the negative reviews comes from people who think they have a average foot width but I fact do not. The typical American foot are inherently wide. The common shoe width in the States is a D ,that's wide! In Europe the common width is a B. So when Americans put on a globally average shoe they thinks it's very narrow because they believe their foot is average and not wide, there is the rub. I not saying anyone is right or wrong ,if a shoe doesn't fit you it doesn't fit but if you are D width know that in the world of shoe measurements you have a wide foot and don't blame the shoe. I'm the odd man out as I'm a American with a B width. So glad I tried the Speedgoat it's like a trail sports car for the feet. If you wanted more traction you would have to go to crampons. Excellent toe off and control. My only negative is that it doesn't have the classic Hoka rocker feel, more of a sensation of a standard trail shoe but with much more cushion. More positives is the shoe unlike most Hokas looks sleek and not clunky and feels very fast and light when you want to put the hammer down.
