I ordered in black oiled full grain leather. TTS. Great style, comfort, durability. Leather is wonderful, smells wonderful. Sole & heel are cushioned stepping. Heel is really stacked leather (soft cushion), not plastic or wood block (hard when stepping). The older black Chelseas have brown stacked heels (better), the new ones are solid black (not as pretty). I add pedag Holiday arch support and wear with hand knitted woolies. Great for any weather. Style looks fab with dresses, skinnies, anything! These boots last a lifetime and are repairable when issues happen. Don't pull on with the loop. It will break -it's just for show. I give these 5 stars and I am a long-time Frye addict.

I love this shoe. Now. Last week when I first pulled it out of the box, I thought that I had made a mistake. They looked big and clunky and when I put them on they felt too tight and stiff to be comfortable. There was no way I was going up in size as I already have to go up a half size with all my Frye shoes and boots and I’m just too vain to go up even bigger. Dejectedly, I put on a pair of thin socks and walked around inside for a bit. They were already getting more comfortable! And they didn’t look big and clunky once I had them on! I put on a slightly thicker sock, took a deep breath, and went out for dinner in my new boots. By the time I returned home, I was in love. I’ve now worn them every day, all day long, for a week. I reluctantly take them off at night. They look good, feel good, and they make me happy. Wear them with skinnies, leggings, dresses - they look great with everything. The heel height is perfect and easy to walk in - even for 60-year-old me. I put in a thin insert to make up for the lack of padding in the forefoot area (once they stretched a little there was room.) I’m even wearing my Smartwool socks with them now. I’m glad that I didn’t put them right back in the box and that I gave them time to stretch and get comfortable. They’re my new winter favorites!!

I LOVE Fryes and am on my way to building a nice little collection of various styles. I like them for the quality, and for the fact that they are stylish without being overly trendy. I live in the northeastern US where it's boot season at least six months of the year, so I justify the cost knowing I'll wear them a LOT (and I do). I've become a convert to the Chelsea style, having beaten a pair of department store boots into submission. Knowing I'll wear them so much, I decided to replace the ones I have with a Frye version. These are the most expensive Fryes I've purchased to date...so it took a couple of deep breaths before I clicked "place my order," LOL. I usually wear a 9.5 in Fryes, but based on reviews that these seemed particularly narrow, went up to my normal size 10. I'm glad I did—they fit true to size. They are stiff, yes, absolutely—anyone who wears Fryes or boots of a similar caliber knows that they definitely need a breaking-in period. You have to power through it, because the reward will be a pair of boots that fits exceptionally well once they're broken in (and I've had two pairs that required zero break in discomfort—they got better as they aged but they were comfortable right out of the box). These are no different, if anything, they may be a little more uncomfortable because of the short shaft and how stiff it is around the ankle. The first few wearings will need to be with heavier socks until it softens up a bit. The lug sole is hefty and definitely gives the boot a "grunge" look, more so than a traditional Chelsea style. But this is exactly what I wanted—the flat leather soles on my other Fryes are not great for frozen conditions, so I was deliberately seeking a lug sole for my winter "daily driver" boots. And the little extra lift in the heel is perfect for me, as I always like an extra inch or two boost. Aside from that, these are a timeless, "wear with anything" kind of boot. They're not flashy, but they're the kind of shoes you'll have for ten years or more if you care for them properly. Unfortunately I was not happy with the quality of the pair I received. I ended up returning them and purchased another pair directly from Frye. The workmanship was just off, and this has happened on other occasions too (and not just with Zappos.) Be prepared to buy and return a couple of times to get something you're happy with, if you're fussy like me. There were areas of stitching that were sloppy, there was a mar on one of the toes of some whitish substance that would not rub off (it was NOT the normal bloom that you often get on a new pair of Fryes). There also was a small defect in the seam along the inside arch on one boot, where the smallest amount of something white, perhaps an underlayer? was showing through. So the seam potentially wasn't completely sealed. For the price point, I want to be 100% happy with them and will not accept the kinds of small imperfections that might be ok on boots that are a quarter of the price. Zappos' service as always was 110%. This is why they're my first stop when I'm looking for something.

I am a big fan of Frye. These boots are great. The black vintage leather is wonderful. The surprising thing is that the stacked heel shows off the layers in black, chocolate, dark brown, a very pretty accent to the shoe. I have the size seven. The shoe is a little narrow for me, as my foot is a little on the wide side. I am used to this, so I have my own stretcher. I am 5' 2", and the ankle part of the shoe hugs the ankle instead of having a big gap, so it doesn't make my legs look short and fat. The overall look of the shoe is sleek and sophisticated. It looks good under straight leg jeans and with leggings. I wasn't so sure about the stretchy panels as I prefer a zipper, however, the shoe pulls on easily and it looks fine. I wanted a short black three season boot and finally found it!!

I have an embarrassing amount of Frye boots. These are now in my top 5. So beautiful — they look great with bootcut jeans, ankle length jeans, leggings, etc. they did take a couple wears to break in as the uppers were a little stiff and scratchy but cute boot socks did the trick. So worth it. The cognac color is gorgeous. You won’t be sorry.

I have Frye Harness boots in size 10, and ordered these in a 10 as well. They were tight in the toe box and I really debated returning them, but I couldn't find them in stock to try another pair , and well, they are beautiful. So for the first time I ever asked for a shoe to be stretched, off to the cobbler I went. Who knew? Worked like a charm and you can't tell a darn thing from the outside. I was afraid there would be a "bubble" or it would ruin the line. Nada. The rubber sole adds the right amount of grip and kept me safe twice in the rainy weather we've been having. Love them. Oh, and I didn't have blisters, ankle rubbing or difficulty with the shaft. Easy off and on.

This is one of the most beautiful boots I have ever seen. It is also one of the most uncomfortable. The upper interior is super stiff and started to rub against my ankles within seconds, the arch support is nonexistent, and there is no support or cushioning at all to speak of. I wear a standard size 9 and had these on my feet for about ten seconds before shouting NOPE.

I'm a tried-and-true Frye lover and I currently own about 30+ pairs of Frye footwear not counting various handbags and other fine Frye leather goods! I've been wearing Frye for probably close to 30 years. The quality and value of Frye is exceptional and they last a lifetime. The Sabrina Chelsea was a bit stiff right out of the box, although the leather softened within a few wearings and they're one of my go to booties of the season! They're super stylish, the color is gorgeous, and the goring makes them easy on and off! I can wear them all day and my feet feel fabulous!

!!Received this pair in the mail today and was super bummed to see that the stitching on the outside was fraying on one boot. Then I looked inside and the stitching was actually ripped inside the other boot! For the price and the name of Frye I expect a flawless boot. Returning and very disappointed these would even be shipped out for someone.

I wanted stylish boots that would last me the next 10 years. These seem perfect for that. The soles give a bit of edge and I love the heel height. They do run slightly narrow, but I have average feet and they are working. It would be lovely if they had more cushioned soles (hence four stars for comfort), but that is not their thing. These are my first Fryes, and the most that I have ever spent on shoes. They took a little breaking in. The upper rubbed my calf both in the front and back, especially when taking stairs. I wore them the first day for 14 hours and walked about a mile around London and danced until late. I got a couple of blisters, but they were less snug after that and are now great a week later. I wore them every day this week, they really elevate an outfit and are fine on comfort.

The boots are beautiful. The leather is nice and smells great. I usually wear an 8.5 and I ordered an 8 based on reviews. They fit fine with room for moderate socks. However, I didn't keep them for a couple of reasons. Although the boots were nice, for the price point I didn't feel they matched my expectations. One boot looked slightly different than the other - which would bother me over time. Also, style-wise, I felt they went too high on my ankle which would cause some scrunching on the leather, making my legs look stubby. I think women with thinner legs would probably look better in them than me. Overall, they are beautiful - well-made, just not $300+ beautiful.

I like this boot. I like the wide opening up top. these boots are well made. I love this brand. I think I may have needed just a 1/4 inch less on the heel though that is just me. I will keep waiting for another fry to come along that I love. A note to Frye, not into the cowboy heel on other boots. Can you make a updated Sabrina or others with a block heel?

These are IT!!! I tried multiple boot/bootie styles, mostly from Frye (Billy Inside Zip, other Frye Chelsea boots) and also a slew of boots from London Fly. I first ordered these from the Frye Company website, but BOTH pairs were not quite right. They instructed to order so they fit like a glove, which I did. This was an 8; It took a bit to wear in but they were fine, fit well, but I had to wear thinner wool socks, there was no forgiveness there. After one month, the left boot started to SQUEAK. I just had to return, at this price, I cannot allow a squeak. Back they went. The second pair, were SLIGHTLY mismatched, the right was a bit smaller than the left and I just couldn't get over it. And back they went. I thought this is my FINAL TRY, I ordered the 8 1/2 from Zappos, the first pair looked like they were already worn, ugh, so they sent me a second pair. FINALLY I think I've met the right pair. SO my advice is, it might take a few tries with these particular boot, and MAYBE size up rather than down if you are between sizes. It might not be the "Right" way, but there is more forgiveness in that extra half size. I think these are a keeper. The Cognac is gorgeous, and though they are a bit more expensive than some of the other Frye choices, in my opinion it always pays off to get exactly what you want, especially if you keep your boots around for years like I do.

I love these boots! This was my first pair of Frye boots and they look amazing. I constantly get compliments on them. The only thing I will say that I don't love is that the leather on the left shoe is wearing a little more than the right. Other than that I would definitely get these in another color as well if they weren't so expensive.

I'm in love with these boots. They are the perfect height, so versatile, and I know they will last for years to come. It's been rainy where I live, and the thick rubber tread has kept me from slipping all over the place! I originally bought a size 7 (my usual Frye size), but exchanged for a 7.5 as the 7's rubbed my heels even though they felt like the right size everywhere else. The 7.5's are a little loose but a lot more comfortable. Keep in mind these definitely need some breaking in, but after a few days they feel pretty good. I would recommend getting some kind of cushioning sole if you're planning on doing lots of walking/standing.

Absolutely gorgeous shoe. I normally do not spend so much, but had another pair of Chelsea boots that fell apart after a year of constant use. As I am trying to be conscious about consuming products that are ethically produced, these are proudly made in the USA and I can tell that they are built to last. They have a Vibram rubber outsole with good grip and gorgeous leather. I have pretty narrow feet, but am finding that these are going to require significant breaking in -- in this case, I consider it a worthy investment.

These are such cute boots. I had been wearing Blundstones all winter and love the Chelsea style, but wanted some cute heeled boots for spring. These are my 5th or 6th pair of Frye boots. The style is super cute. I took the plunge on these because they were the final pair and on pretty steep sale. Upon arrival, looking closely shows imperfections in the shoe. There is glue in the seal between the heel and the base of the shoe. There is a tiny missing chunk out of the corner of one boot. I guess the price of sale prices. Wow though, they were ouchie to break in. I had large blisters on the pads of both feet after one day of wearing at home. Now, a couple of weeks later, I can be on my feet in them all day. Will keep.

This shoe was not comfortable! It felt extremely stiff and my foot flopped around in it quite a bit. For the money, I would have expected padding and cushioning of some sort. I understand that Frye boots need to be broken in, but these would have killed my feet for months and required insoles.

I really, really wanted to like these shoes. They seemed like everything I was looking for in a casual chic bootie. But - I had to return them. When will Frye make shoes that are stylish and comfortable? This is the second pair of Frye booties I have tried and returned, due to the soles being so stiff and uncushioned - and the uppers being too stiff for comfort, too. On these, the shaft rubs stiffly against the lower calf with every step taken. Really sorry - because they are so cute.

I love these boots! I work in construction management and have to go from various job sites throughout the day. I needed something that was sturdy but stylish. These boots are perfect!! I ordered them in the black too. I can easily slip them off if I need to go into a clients home with no shoes or stomp around in the mud. They look great with my jeans and pants. Super comfortable, great Frye quality and timeless style!!

These boots are so comfortable and great quality. A lot of the reviews said there was a breaking in period before they felt comfortable, but I didn't experience this. I did have to order a half size down from my normal size.

because this boot is FREAKING HOT! Don't let the color burgundy fool you. The pics for it no justice. Now, This is what I love and expect from Frye . A well made USA genuine quality leather. Absolutely in love. I'm a true 81/2, but with this boot and the 12r Harness both made in USA I have to go down a half size to an 8. I have very narrow feet, but I find the 8 to be better fit. Thanks Frye. I love my boots!

These are by far my favorite shoes even after 2 years of having them ! They can be dressed up but also worn with jeans. Very comfortable even with a small heel. I always get complimented on them. Well worth the upfront investment.
