This baselayer does a great job of keeping you warm but it is not heavy.

Warn and comfortable. Well made and very durable. Been wearing some form of this product for almost 10 years. No complaints. Can be a little tight if you have big calves.

I had bought the base layer for family members who are hunters, and bought myself a pair before attending the Music City Bowl. Weather was in the teens and 20's and I was plenty warm. Wore the heavy weight bottoms and a mid-weight top, because I also have a Turbo Down Omni Heat Jacket. Perfect layering. My husband did not wear his and was freezing! lol

I travel extensively in Mongolia, usually during Winter. And I also travel to Arctic and the Antarctic regions. This had me running around trying all brands of base layer clothing to keep me warm. All the brands that I tried over the years were not effective, too hot, badly fitting, and poorly constructed. Frustrated for years.
Last trip to Mongolia I visited a backpacking store in Ulaanbaatar. They had this product on sale. Snapped it up. For the next 3 weeks I was the most comfortable I have ever been in Winter. It never got rank considering no running water. Got back to the states and bought another one.

Purchased this for duck/goose hunting and fishing on those cold damp winter days. Very light weight, complete freedom of movement, wicks sweat away from your body after a rigorous workout setting up and bringing in decoys. All I can say PERFECT!

These have the same sort of metallized fabric that some of the Columbia coats have, but they are not really heavy in thickness/weight, or heating. On first look, I thought these would be quite warm, and that's why I bought them. But they are really more of a mid-weight as far as warmth.

great for spring & fall but in sub winter... as long as u are moving you'll stay warm. omni heat uses your body heat to keep u warm so you have to keep movin. feels good on body.

I've had many base layers in my 35 years of staying warm in the extreme cold. Most have served their purpose mostly, but have lacked in varying elements. I've finally found exactly what I need - whether it be skiing, climbing, or just being in the cold weather. The men's heavyweight base layer from Columbia provides reliable resistance to the cold, while aiding in warming you up a bit more with the omni heat interior. It's a crazy concept to wrap your head around before experiencing it, but let me tell you, it works! The base layer doesn't absorb moisture either and breathes well going out, but is very wind resistant when you are switching out layers and exposed directly to the weather. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solve all base layer.

I have been looking for a good baselayer for some time now. I have tried just about every manufacture out there. They just would not fit right, the material would not feel good or they be full of static witch I can't stand. This baselayer is the only one I found that fit true to size felt good kept me warm in 30 degree weather and kept me cool when I started sweating. I plan on buying another pair to have as a extra.

I was excited to get these pants and use them under my ski pants when i skied. I wore them on a pretty warm day under my ski pants thinking they were going to keep me warm. Big mistake! These did not keep me warm at all. I was cold. The material was great and price was good. I was bummed the micro beads didin't do their job. These pants should be labeled medium weight instead of heavy weight. My long johns keep me warmer than these pants.

The omni-heat lining is scratchy and catches on your body hair. Rather uncomfortable.

These are not heavy weight base layers, at best these mimic mid-weight. These couldn't even keep me warm in 20 degree weather and at certain angles the wind cuts straight through them. You're better off getting a cheap pair somewhere else. I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because they're better than nothing
