I recently had to buy another pair of Sabre pants after a butt check across some rocks left me with an irreparable tear on my old pair of Arc'teryx pants that had served me for 12 seasons. These are bulletproof pants that have *never* failed to keep me dry. Looking forward to the next 12 years of snow adventures in these new ones.

Had an older pair of Sabre pants and they are very baggy, clown like. These fit great with the right inseam length. I am 6'7" and wear 37" inseam pant, all my Arc'teryx long pants never ride up over my ski boots when on the lift. Plenty of room in the knees to keep the hem down low on the boot and the gaiter is just right. Like all Arc'teryx, great material, great technical design, zippers are smooth, and they last. Worth the extra $ for longevity and performance.

I reviewed these pants 5 years ago. Since then I've purchased three more pair and have skied in them for over 400 days, collectively. Of all the ski equipment and paraphernalia I own, these have stood the test of time the best. Over these five years jArcteryx has kept the things I liked best but have made improvements. They're trimmer with an even more comfortable fabric. I had delamination issues with one of the original pair (Gortex defect affecting brands that utilized the fabric) and Arcteryx was fantastic to work with in solving the problem. Successive generations have had no issues. Five years with Arcteryx products and while the up-front cost is significant, the value is clearly there for me. I haven't found a better product or company.

You simply cannot go wrong with a 3L pant. If you demand a pant that can be worn while skiing/snowboarding in pooring down rain with wind, then 3L is an absolute must. Before owning the Arc'Teryx Sabre pant I habe been using Burton AK 3L pants exclusively since AK hit the market. Weight wise, my AK 3L Hover pant and my Arc'Teryx Sabre pant are nearly identical. Which is interesting because the AK pant 'feels' heavier. I account this to the difference in materials used respectively. The Sabre pant uses N80p-x with a softshell type of finish where the AK pant uses an unspecified Gore-Tex Pro which is considerably stiffer. Feature-wise, the Sabre pant to me is minimalist in design. Oddly, my AK pant is feature rich with pockets galore and inner thigh vent zips yet weigh 2oz more than the Sabre pant. For that weight, I want inner thigh vents in my Sabre pant. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the tidy styling of the Sabre pant. The brushed inside of the Sabre pant is com-fort-a-ble... Wear them spring sking without a base-layer no problem. The integrated belt (also found in my AK pant) is a solid feature to have. The fit is relaxed for base layering. I consider the Sabre to be loose but not baggy. Additionally the Sabre pant is about three cm longer than my AK pant. Depending on the textile (my base layer is merino wool), binding/sticking with the brushed inside may restrict mobility, so there are some trade-offs between a pure shell (Burton AK) and something with a brushed liner (Sabre). Would I recommend the Arc'Teryx Sabre pant? Absolutely.

So lightweight, yet these pants will keep you warmer than some insulated ski pants. By blocking the wind they keep your legs warm and comfortable. Good size pockets: when you ski you need to carry a few things with you. The size zippers let you vent out heat on those warm spring ski days. Overall I love these pants.

It doesn't get much better for daily driver ski pants. They're comfortable (integrated belt is so clutch) and I love that they come in the long lengths. You can't go wrong.

Yet another Arc'teryx item to add to my growing list of their products. I'm 5ft9 and wear a medium, the fit is PERFECT. I've always had an issue with waterproof trousers bunching up a little, or being too short; these are the perfect medium. I've read in another review that Keprotec wore very quickly, but doesn't seem to be the case with me! I've actually worn these whilst mountain biking, and the constant rub against a chain/crank hasn't marked these at all. If you're looking for a regular fit waterproof trousers, for their intending use (snowboarding/ski etc), but also for casually walking around the resort, and to use in wet weather walks - pick these.

After two weeks of use, I really like these trousers and hope to get many years of use out of them. They are comfortable and allow good motion, full-featured without having too many unnecessary extras. Totally waterproof, even after sitting in melting snow. The slide n'loc system keeps the powder skirt right where you need it; every ski trouser should have something like this. I like the fleece backing which adds a bit of comfort though not much extra warmth - if anything, I would make it a touch thicker, especially in the seat. At 5'10" and long-waisted, I find medium a little long - probably should have considered the short length. They could do without the two thigh pockets. Who carries a stuff around in their trouser pocket while on the slopes anyways?

Amazing pants. Ski'd 6 days straight with these on up in Whistler in varying temperatures (-5 C to -20 C). When it was cold I wore merino leggings with a pair of Lululemon sweatpants underneath and on warmer days just the leggings. Totally versatile pants for cold and warm days. The air vents are easy to open and the large pockets are great for your phone, food, wallet etc.

The redesigned Sabre pant is back in my quiver now that the "bellbottom" cut is gone. It is a great lift-served pant that can tour as well, with perfect pocket placement and entry angle. It would benefit from a slightly longer fly zipper (1.5 to 2 inches) and a removable suspender system like the Procline FL uses (I added suspenders from an older pair of Theta SV bibs).

These pants are awesome. I bought the hinto color in size medium (5'11" 165lbs). they dump heat well when necessary and obviously are waterproof. Arcteryx revised the cut of these pants this year and it's a lot better. They aren't ridiculously baggy at the base anymore. The only negatives I can say is there aren't a lot of features and I would prefer to see an extra inch in the inseam. I can't really fault Arcteryx for this since I can't expect them to be a perfect size for everyone.

This review applies to the 2013-14 version. I have had two pair of these pants for two seasons now. They've been put through the ringer including race training, backcountry and normal resort skiing. I'd estimate each pair has seen about 40-50 days of use. Fabric - This helps make these pants outstanding. Terrific combination of luxurious softness, thickness and toughness. The insulation is pretty light, worth maybe half a layer. Fit/mobility - Also outstanding. Extremely comfortable and adaptive to movement. Highly resistant to tree branches and man- made catch hazards. Appearance - Partly individual but I haven't found other snow pants that approach the looks of Arc pants. The fit of my version is a little baggy, which I like. Don't know about the current version. Durability - These pants look the same as when I first tried them on. Waterproofing - They have been leakproof but do require occassional applications of DWR particularly if you wash them frequently as I do. The tutorial video on the Arc website is very helpful. Stain Resistance - They do absorb grease which I resolve with frequent laundering. The Arc website gives helpful instructions for treating stains which has worked for me. If slight stains might bother you and you'd prefer not to frequently launder - go dark. I love these pants and give them my unqualified recommendation. Great product, I haven't found anything else that compares. Arc has modified them for the 2015-16 season, that should be factored in, but I submitted this review so there would be information on long term use.

The sabre has been my favourite pant for years. I like the brushed interior to the gore tex, the quietness of the fabric. But it was a little baggy and was hard to ski tour in and I would have to wear suspenders to keep them up high enough. the NEW sizing is great. It still maintains that baggy new school style without the excess it had in the past. I was starting to move away from it because of the baggy walking restriction but now I am back and its my favourite again. Thigh vents for dumping heat, good combination of pockets. Great re design.

I tested out a pair of Sabre pants to start this season. I have over 35 days of on and off piste skiing in them to date. This year in Eastern Sierra, where I normally train was the least amount of snow fall in years, but still timed it well enough to get many good days in. Having been a testor for a number of brands as well as being a multi sport athlete, my needs have always been for light and highly functional gear which is easily stowed and can cross over with high versatility. I was surprised by what I found in both the Sabre Pants and Sabre Jacket. I am athletic build (compete in triathlon/road & trail running/cycling & MTBing) 5'9.5" @ 160lbs. I'm normally a medium in most styles I have previously tested. The small in the Sabre pants & shell fit perfectly w/ room to layer. I was totally comfortable skiing all conditions wearing 2xu thermal compression 3/4 tights as my base layer bottoms. I realize the Sabre pants are cut a little fuller than the Stingray and some of the other cuts like the Stinger but the small size fit me well and not to baggy. I wear a 30-31 in. waiste but since I cycle my thighs are a little larger in proportion. The Sabre pants size small accomadated me well allowing for good movement. They also served well in some off- piste earn your turn recon with still great versatility in climate control in that I did not feel overheated when hiking in. I liked the hip pockets which had ample room for extra $$, chap stick, credit card and keys. (A suggestion might be a small key hook leash to secure keys). I liked the design and placement of the thigh pockets in that when I stowe an iPhone in them, they are cut where the stowed items do not drop down to far to bang around my knees. The Sabre pants also accomodate and enabled me to wear my knee braces under them with good freedom of movement. While these are a fuller cut style, they pack and fold up allowing for easy packing & stowing, while they were the lightest I've ever tested of their kind. While other reviews may have posted them too baggy, I did not find it the case even as a fuller cut. They paired nicely with the Sabre Jacket. I push my gear pretty hard and not a scratch on them from this seasons training.

The workmanship, overall design and materials is as always with Arc'teryx superb. Probably the best there is. The cut of the pant is just unbelievable. It really is perfect. You will also look and feel extremely cool in them. The 3L lo-loft lining/backer helps with moisture management and adds a just the right amount of warmth. The only drawback is the belt (or built in little string). The first thing I did when I got the pants was to remove it and added a wider more stable belt. If you are in to Arc'teryx the "H-150 Riggers Belt" would probably be very good.

Bought these pants last season mainly for off piste snowboarding in BC and the Alps. Although these are mainly aimed at skiers they have been awesome for snowboarding. The relaxed fit and baggy lower leg sits comfortably over the binding straps and are baggy enough to easily undo the bindings. These have kept me dry and warm in some pretty bad weather and deep snow, they are comfortable and allow for easy movement. The only downside is that the material is not as tough as the pro shells. I caught them on branch through the trees and they sliced open far too easily, but were easily welded on repair.
