I found the shoes to fell funny around the arch, just not right for my foot.

I ordered 3 different pairs of "under-pronator" Asics to compare/contrast, in order to replace my worn out model which sadly they don't make anymore. Here are my findings: Gel-Equation (this shoe) - This one actually felt the most comfortable "out of the box". My usual 9.5 felt right on. It feels the most flexible, and also has the biggest toe-box of the 3 I tried, so if that is your issue, this might be your shoe. Both the upper mesh and the sole felt the most flexible. However, while I did feel it helped with the under-pronation problem, there is a lack of support under the toe area. It feels rather thin there, and overall, the sole was the thinnest of the 3 and the least cushioned. Because of the thin area under the toe base, it felt like the shoe tipped downward, maybe this is a "spring-off" feature (?). After wearing for 15 minutes, I felt like this was stressing the muscle behind my thigh, above the knee crease. This one had the 2nd highest arch. ASICS GEL-Flux 3 - This one turned out to be the overall most comfortable for me. I have a narrow-ish foot, and usual size 9.5. The 9.5 fit right. I notice a lot of people say to go up 1/2 a size in Asics, but, personally, I don't like the shoe to be too big as it rubs against the back and/or sides of the heel uncomfortably. Snug but comfortable fit. This one felt like it had the most room around the "ball" portion of the foot, which is where I most often get cramps. Also felt the most stiff underneath the foot than the others, but thick and supportive. After comparing by wearing alone, and also by wearing one of one model on one foot, and a different model on the other, then switching feet, I learned out of the 3, this shoe was sort of the "medium"; it had a good amount of cushioning, but not as much as the Gel-Evate, but more than the Gel-Equation. Also, the middle in terms of "level"-ness, the Gel-Equation felt like it pointed downward, the Gel-Evate felt even more level than this one. Out of the three, probably the least high arch, although I felt like the arch is supported, I don't feel it under my arch as closely as the other two. Overall, it just feels the best on my foot. Feels like it does help with my underpronation issue, straightening out my gait a little. Of the 3, this one has the highest cup at the heel, which I like better, feels like my foot is a little more enclosed in the shoe, not exposed at the ankle. Just took them out for my first hour-long walk, and no issues or discomfort whatsoever. Gel-Evate 3 - When I first put these on, I said, "nope." Out of the three they were the most tight, so if you are in between sizes, or like a looser fit, go up a size. After testing the other two pairs, I went back to them and wore one with another model. I liked them better upon the second chance; they had the most cushioning of the three, the thickest/highest sole. Also the highest arch, and they had the most support under the toe area, making the overall angle of the bottom feel more level and not tipping down. When I loosened the laces quite a ways, they felt ok, but still a sort of tight fit overall, which may have loosened in time/wear. However, after walking around the house for about 15 minutes, the middle of my foot began to feel cramped, even though they were as loose as I could go and still tie them (I agree with other reviews that the laces are too short). If you have super-high arches, this might be the one for you. Hope this is helpful to some of you!

Nice shoe esp for stability. I roll my ankle out and the soles of my feet face inward toward each other. These help decrease that. I am giving it a for overall because it could use just a little bit more cushioning.

I chose these sneakers because of their relatively reasonable price and their underpronation-correction feature. These are the first shoes of this type that I've ever had and I'm finding the underproduction-correction, which is achieved I believe by a ridge on the outer side of the gel insert, uncomfortable sometimes on one foot, it feeling like there's something in my shoe there. When I don't feel it, the sneakers are fine. I'll have to update this review at a later date when I know if the discomfort has disappeared and if they've corrected my underponation. The only indicator that i had of being underpronated was that my shoes always wore much more on the outer heel, so that's what I'll be looking for. I bought a half size larger than usual.

I wanted to like these but had a problem with the side of the tongue digging into the top of my foot. maybe a fluke, although I think someone else had the same problem with a different style of Asics. Fortunately, that's where Zappos easy return policy comes to the rescue!

I bought these shoes for my weight lifting and HIIT class. They work great. Lots of cushion when I'm jumping. I'm able to run well in them too. The colors are not my favorite but it was the best from the other options for me.

These shoes don't accommodate my high arches. And the shoelaces are too short to tie.

I really tried to like this shoe, but I will be returning it. When I read the reviews it said it had good support and was "stable" but I found them to be very stiff and made my feet go numb after a while. And I didn't think the short shoelace thing would bother me, but it is very annoying.

Another great looking pair of Asics, but they have to be returned because they run narrow. Interestingly, the size 12 in this Asic runs true to size, but the Asics Gel-Cumulus 18 in a size 12, runs small. Even when I re-ordered the 18 in a half size larger, it was the same as the size 12. I'm going to re-order this shoe in W width to see of that works. If not, I'm just going to try another brand.

I am a big fan of Asics Gel Nimbus 17 and have gone through about 3 pairs. They're pricey so I thought I would just give these lower priced Gel-Equations a try. I was reminded again that "you get what you pay for". I honestly don't know where the supposed Gel is in these - the footbed is not squishy or flexible. And there's no reinforcement of any kind at the top of the toe, where I often have break throughs. They'll be going back, and it looks like I'll be spending more dough.

I wear a 9.5 and this shoe felt like it was a 10. It was not comfortable to me, the arch support didn't feel like it lined up with my arch. I will be returning them. :(

I usually love the fit of Asics shoe, but these were too narrow even though they were marked wide. They hurt the top of my foot so much that I didn't even try walking in them.

I love the look and the quality of these shoes. But unfortunately, the D width is not wide enough for me. I am not sure why, since I have other Asics that fit great.

I normally wear ASICS but these were so wide at the top of the shoe for my poor narrow feet that when I laced them to fit the shoe puckered, so I had to return them.

Love the colors and style of this shoe. There are not many athletic shoes available for the under pronator (supinator) like me with bunions and extremely wide feet. Wanted to love this but it was just too narrow. I could see myself getting blisters on my little toes because the toe box was not wide enough. Back they go!

Tried my regular size and half size larger both in wide. This shoe is definitely not made for wide feet.

I have never reviewed a shoe or clothing item, but I was so disappointed in these I wanted to alert others. MUCH smaller than my previous 6+ pairs of 10.5 ASICS. Since returning I went to a running shoe store, have changed to New Balance.

These shouldn't be labeled a wide. Got one on and immediately took it off. No amount of loosening the laces will correct for that. Didnt even have the chance to see if they were comfortable otherwise.

I do not like these shoes. I absolutely loved the pair of Asics had before Gel 1000 I think. The toe box is too small and I have skinny feet. They look pointy. I am disappointed. I wish that I had returned them.
