My original Artic Parka had torn inside on a seam, and feathers started pilling everywhere, so I needed an update. My original lasted 7 years and I was truly impressed with it, so I was happy to order the upgraded Artic Parka II. The style and fit are virtually the same. There are two differences I noticed: The original was ever so slightly longer (maybe an inch or two). The upgrade comes down to my mid thigh (I'm 5'7"), so I am happy with it. But those extra couple inches were nice, without being super long. The upgrade's hood is a little bit wider. I have yet to test the coat in the wind, but I fear that it being loose around my ears, I would still need a hat to keep me warm. In all, the coat has a nice slim fit, is a good length, and is warm. If it's anything like the previous version, the quality is also good and is a nice investment. Prior to switching to North Face, I had department store down coats, and they really don't compare to these. In the Chicago winds, these coats truly make a difference.

Its fits a little weird, right at the waist, hip and cest, but too big right under my chin. BUt that's where I'll tuck in the ends of my scarf so I guess it's ok,

This is a super warm coat and it looks better than most puffy marshmallow coats that are warm enough for winter. My one issue it that with my proportions, I had to order a large for the bottom of the coat to fit over my hips, but it makes the top of the coat look very bulky on me.

I love the fit and the sleek look of it. I wish the hand holes weren't so tight though, that's the only con.

Beautiful and comfortable coat. Just a bit snug which was surprising. I guess I'll just ramp up my weight loss efforts!

I bought this coat to replace my last coat I wore for 20+ years. I wanted my next coat to last just as long. I originally purchased this coat in a large. I fit my waiste beautifully but was snug in the chest. I'm 5'6", 160lbs with a narrow waist and 38DD chest size. I opted for the xl which makes for a slightly less fitted look but a more comfortable fit. I love wearing sweatshirts, so the added space allows for this. This coat will get warm in stores even with just a shirt on. I zip the coat in both directions to vent my body heat comfortably. The piece that covers the mouth makes the neck area slightly tight even in the xl but I am not concerned as I believe the material will begin to shape to my neck/chin/mouth area with more use. I LOVE the length of this coat. I know I can sit and my bottom will be covered. I had lower back surgery that gets stiff in cold weather and this coat keeps that cold air away. I have not removed the fur to see what the coat is like without it on. The hand pockets are soft and fit my large iPhone. I do wish there was a zippered chest pocket to tuck cash and cards for quick, easy and safe access in the cold.

This is a great winter coat! Sleek, stylish, comfortable and functional. Only thing is that at 5'2 I feel like the coat is a bit too long for my height, but during the winter that will probably come in handy! Overall would definitely recommend!

Just got this in the mail so can't speak to water/wind proof. However, it is warm and heavy without looking frumpy. Got this is replace a different brand winter jacket I've had for 6 years. Hoping this one holds up that long as well!

I'm 5'5" 120 and ordered a xs, it fits but I need to try with some thicker sweaters because the arms are very fitted.

Size up if you want to be able to wear thick clothing underneath. Very warm. Already put to the test in the first snow/cold front in Chicago. This was my first The North Face winter coat purchase. I now understand the cult following!

I needed a coat for the winter and this was everything I expected. If you like a loose fitting coat than I would get a size bigger than usual.

After a lot of research, I decided to try this coat on in the store before buying. I spend a lot of time outdoors in Minnesota where temps are often below zero in the winter. I needed a warm, waterproof, wind proof coat that allows for unrestricted movement. This hit 3 of my requirements. I'm 4'11", 115 lbs, 34DD, with an athletic build. The small was a bit tight through the chest and shoulders but I was drowning in the medium. I tried it on with 2 layers underneath and it was a snug fit. I'm hopeful that wearing light base layers underneath will still keep me warm. The wind/water proofing on this coat sold me. A petite medium would have probably fit perfectly. Pretty please offer petite sizes!

I bought this product for my 10 year old. She is very tall for her age at 5'3 about 110lbs. I originally ordered a small since we transitioned into adult clothes. The Small was a perfect spot on fit. But let's be honest for the price of this coat I wanted something to last. So I exchanged it for a Medium. What I've noticed. There is no real big difference between the sizes. This coat had to be made for slender taller females. The waist fit from Small to Medium is very very little difference. The arms are longer. I opted to keep the coat because she started to slow down on the growing process. But let's get to the actual cost itself. It is by far the best material. Waterproof, windproof, stain proof. I've owned North Face's myself before but this is top of the line. It's not overly thick, but very warm. The collar is high enough and does not choke you. The hood stays put and the best part. REMOVABLE! The length hits above the knees. The sleeves have that extra sleeve that is tight around your wrist, so no cold air gets in. The coat is slender in all aspects. So it's no where near on the puffy side.

Its a very nice product. Very warm. Due to taper at midsection it is a bit tight. Will have to size up or look for a slightly different style.

I wore this outside for the great jack o'lantern spectacular in MN. It was 30 degrees outside and I didn't even get cold at all. Very warm and didn't allow the wind to cut through.

I use for casual wear mostly during the cold winter and rainy season. Dries fairly quickly and wind resistant. Aslo lightweight but warm for colder days.

I needed a new winter coat as I liven NYC and the winters can be pretty brutal. But I also wanted a jacket that I can wear short sleeves under -- not only sweaters. So I had the jacket shipped to the store to try it on and fully make my decision from there. Tried it on and realized it felt kind of thin, especially if i don't plan to wear sweaters everyday. Helpful associate suggested I try the GEOX jacket which has more down and is heaver--- i loved it and paid $100 dollar difference. Geox is water proof and has magnetic buttons. Love it!!
