Scratching my head with regards to Arcteryx' decisions lately.. Removed the full length side zippers, which makes it impossible to take the pant on/off while wearing crampons. They also removed the full length fly in front. The same exact problem with the alpha sv pant. Arc have also discontinued the beta sv and alpha ar pant. Please Arcteryx, enlighten us why you are making these decisions, except for saving production costs? You say that these changes is because of feedback from customers. I can't imagine anybody asked for these changes, and it seams like using this exact explanation is just a cover story for you wanting to save money. I have the last gen beta ar pant. This is definitely the last shell pant I'll buy from you, unless you bring back these critical features.

Alpine environments you will have crampons and boots on. You need 3/4 or full side zips to get these on over your boots and crampons. No point in buying this product without such a critical feature. These are completely unusable as a packable items and must be put on in the morning before a climb. Scratching my head at the decision to remove the zips....had to return them and buy from another brand .

I was glad to see that finally some women's pants are available in a 'Tall' version, however, I've always preferred pants that have the 3/4 side zips. They can be carried in the bottom of my pack and fished out when needed to put on over top of soft shell pants while wearing ski boots. Although the description said zippers to aid in getting them on, there is no way these will go on while wearing ski boots. Disappointed that the ones with 3/4 zippers are no longer available. Am returning them, despite the lovely long leg length.

It's so disappointing that the pants are never available in their short version. After browsing this site I place an order for the short version when it became available. But after two weeks of waiting the the customer support is telling me that they can't fulfill the order because it's out of stock. Please get more short. Not everyone in the world is 6ft.

Big mountains demand flexibility to don a hard-shell over boots and crampons. Unclear on who the target market is for this re-design. Seems like the Arc'teryx design team needs to get out on some mountains and figure out what clothing designs are needed.

I bought these pants a few years ago but first wore them during my summer holiday in July. This was in Swedish Lappland in the Scandinavian mountains and it was super rainy. After the first day I arrive at my tent and took out my passport from the pocket and it was completely soaked. When I returned from my trip I sent them in for repair, but after assessing my pants, Arc'teryx claimed "This is not covered under warranty as it is an accidental damage/wrong use or care of the pocket". As an avid Arc'teryx customer who also owns the Beta AR jacket, the Alpha SV jacket, and the Cerium LT jacket, I am wholly disappointed in the lack of support offered for a malfunctioning product. They are not standing behind their promise.

No heavy use. Pants leak badly, left leg soaked, right leg several wet patches. Yes, all zips are closed. I purchased these together with a Beta LT jacket which also leaks badly. had jacket repaired but still leaks badly. very disappointing...

I bought these pants last summer because I read lots of positive reviews for this product. I really haven't used them very much, and only 3-4 times i heavy rain. I used them today walking to work and the water went straight through them. It looked like I had wet myself. This was really disappointing. After all, this is a very expensive pair of pants, and I really expected more from Arcteryx. I have other Arcteryx products, and I am very happy with those, but these pants were way below my expectations. Sad, but true.
