Got this backpack specifically for travel to Tahiti and Bora Bora for Honeymoon. Wanted to get my husband a good backpack that he would use for a carry-on but also for hiking around the islands! Too soon to tell how well it will hold up over time, but the backpack is very sturdy so it is very promising! ALSO, Love the colors!

My daughter didn't have enough room with her current backpack to carry everything she needed for school but this backpack is roomy, comfortable and stylish!

I love my Recon backpack and was extremely amazed by how beautiful my yellow/black Recon backpack is. The color caught my eye when I perused the online store but when I saw it in person, it really amazed me at how sharp the yellow color is and how sleek the combination of colors looked on my backpack. As I'm a college student, it was important for me to find a backpack that could not only fit my laptop but also all my textbooks. I found that the Recon was able to fit everything - albeit a little snugly (in retrospect, I should probably have gotten a backpack with a bigger capacity). I loved how many compartments the backpack has and how many things I could actually fit in it if I arrange everything carefully.
As my backpack almost always weighs at least 30 pounds, I really needed a backpack with good support. I am happy to say that the Recon offers both a sternum and a waist strap to help distribute the weight more evenly. When those two straps are attached, I almost feel no weight at all on my back. I'm quite amazed by how well these straps work! The little whistle that is attached to the sternum strap is also quite neat - I just hope I never find a need to use it. I also love how much comfort the back padding offers and how the shoulder straps don't dig into my shoulders like average backpacks do.
I also use a hydration system and am happy to report that this backpack is hydration system compatible. I like that the shoulder strap includes a little loop for you to hook your hydration system hose to.
I think the materials that make up the backpack is also quite sturdy and seems to be something that will last a long time.
Overall, I'm happy with this product! I've only had it a week so I haven't really tested out all the features yet. So far, I'm really satisfied with the price I paid and the quality of the product.

I use this backpack for school M-F and day hikes on the weekend and its perfect for both! Enough pockets to hold and organize everything you need, but not so many that stuff gets lost. Looks better (more casual) in person than it does in the website pics. My water bottle doesnt fall out of the side pockets either, which is a problem I've had with other backpacks.

This backpack is such a great backpack because I carry mine in school at all times and this is the first time my back and shoulders don't hurt even though I carry a large load of books, binders, and notebooks.

I use the backpack for pretty much everything. As a student, I rely on this backpack everyday to carry everything I need. Never have I not had enough room to fit everything I needed for the day and with all the various pockets and compartments, I can be organized as well. I'm also a percussionist and I'm able to fit a remarkable number of drumsticks and mallets and even a drum pad in with your typical school supplies. Even with everything in my backpack, it's remarkably comfortable on my back. This is my first purchase from The North Face and I'm looking forward to my next purchase from them. Thank you The North Face for such a superb product and amazing service!

This backpack has a lot of compartments. These compartments come in handy since I use this backpack for school and need places to store all my school supplies such as my calculator, without having to dig in my backpack. The backpack also seems to be made of a sturdy material and is pretty insulated, so it is water resistant to a certain extent, which come sin handy on rainy days.

Im a nursing student that no longer lives on campus which means my whole day needs to fit in my backpack. We have to have so much with us for just a day that I had to get a larger bag. This is perfect for holding all my books, snacks, laptop and my stethoscope fits well in the smaller tablet holder. Its taller and allows you to put everything in and when you zip it up you don't have to worry about it not being able to zip. The amount of pockets it provides it wonderful to keep everything organized! Its amazing how comfortable it is walking long distances with about 25 plus pounds on your back. Any college student would benefit from this backpack!

Great pack for travel and/or daily use. Very practical design, with plenty of room for a days worth of activities. Nice padded sleeves for laptop and tablet, and a fleece lined pocket on the front, perfect for your glasses or phone. Quality is on par for what you would expect from TNF. I expect this will last a long time.

This is my 5th backpack from TNF, and it is my favorite by far. I use it mostly for travel and it is perfect for that. It has great compartments for my laptop And tablet, as well as pens, etc.. It is very roomy but also light-weight. it has great mesh pocketing, and a nice little zip pocket on the front top with enough room for passport, boarding passes, etc.. Great Purchase!!

I mostly use this for college and traveling. I had the older version and it lasted all through high school and it still could pass as new. These backpacks are amazing quality ad long lasting. Theres tons of room inside and a bunch of different pockets for storage. It's a little stiff when you first start using it and the back is a bit more boxier than the older version but it gets more comfortable as you wear it more. TNF has the best backpacks!
