Customer Reviews New Balance MW813 Hook and Loop

I've purchased these shoes many times in the past from another site, but they stopped carrying them. I have to get the right shoe modified because I have a bad hip. So when I ordered a pair from Zappos.com last Thursday, I already knew what to expect as far as quality, fit and comfort are concerned. What I didn't expect was that the shoes were going to arrive the very next day!! (This was my first order from Zappos.com) I was absolutely stunned, and I'm looking forward to wearing my new shoes soon. (The right shoe should hopefully be ready tomorrow.) Thanks to the folks at Zappos.com, you guys rock!! ?

The 813s are a disappointment. I have arthritic feet. So, the hook and loop "laces" normally allow me to adjust shoes for a comfortable fit. I haven't been able to do that with the 813s. I can only wear mine for a few hours at a time.

The Velcro closure straps were too long and they stick out to the side. I had to have a shoe repair shop shorten the straps so they stick to the Velcro on the outside of each shoe. Otherwise, Shoes are sturdy and supportive.

Shoe has velcro tabs for lacing thus easy to get on/off.

Good fit. First time using Hook & Loop rather than shoe laces. Works great! Comfortable fit and walking. Now I can lean over with just one hand and do my shoes. So easy to take them off.

Fit and finish was fine, met my expectations. One point that seems to be true of all velcro fastening shoes is the abrasive hook side of the strap is facing up, and if the loop side of the strap is not aligned properly with the hook surface, the abrasive hook part of the strap abrades the pants cuffs, quickly wearing out and fraying the pants legs. A simple but annoying thing. Still far better than having to tie and re-tie shoestrings! Overall, I'm quite pleased with the purchase.
