The shoe looks very nice out of the box and is as comfortable as advertised. What I was very disappointed about was the quality of the sole. Ecco shoes are supposedly great walking shoes but as soon as I accidentally nicked a street corner on the toe of the sole, it crumbled like it was made of terracotta. I was left with a clearly visible white mark as the darker material broke off. I guess I can mark it up with a marker but that is hardly the quality I expect from a shoe at this price after wearing for only 2 days. Poor quality that I did not expect from Ecco.

I bought another pair of these shoes for my son who is a doctor at a Harvard hospital. He had a pair of these shoes and wore them working day and night for over the last 2 years. He has found them to be his #1 pair for comfort and durability and has worn them for worn and dress. He doesn't shine them as I would and on a recent visit I polished them for him thinking to myself after finishing "I can't believe how good they look given the wear time and Boston weather conditions". He was appropriately grateful. He seemed so happy that I talked him into allowing met give him another pair for dress wear- and I did. He assures me he will get many more months of wear on his now polished , looking (almost) as good as new, original pair. These shoes are getting A+ from my son during "on the job training" just as my son gives A+ care, I'm sure ,on a 30 hour shift. My "dogs" wear another shoe but I fell strongly that if you try these they will serve you well. Dr G (PS: I hope the nudge to polish his shoes RUBS OFF - no pun intended?)

size 42 is larger than expected

Beautiful shoe. Shoe creases right at widest part of foot (as it should) but toe box not wide enough for my foot. Crease will only make it feel worse. We love Ecco brand though.

Perfect fit but I wear an US 8.5 shoe and ordered a Euro 41 which is US 8.0. So shoe runs about a half size bigger than normal. Quality and styling is top notch. Comfortable right out of the box.

I got these in exchange for the Ecco Helsinki which had a cramped fit in the toe box, and the Holton is way more comfortable. Also better quality materials than the Helsinki. Size 46 seems true to size for what I expect from Ecco - which is more US size 12.5 than 12.0.

I'm with the reviewers that said this shoe is larger than its stated size. I lined this size 41 (claimed) up with six other Ecco size 41 shoes I own (most past time to discard) and it is 1/2 to 1 inch longer than any of them. But it's barely wide enough for my feet, so a smaller size isn't likely to help. It's nicely lined and finished so maybe OK for someone with a longer, narrower foot than mine. In the box I found a note that appeared to come from someone who had been sent this pair of shoes before me. It said: "Look carefully at top of shoes where laces are uneven- hurts foot." He also wrote "poor QC" under the quality control sticker on the cardboard inserts. I redid the laces-- I don't much care for the (Euro?) style lacing the shoes came with and didn't have the same problem. But the plastic tip on one of the laces is mashed flat so it was hard to unthread and rethread that lace. I'm faintly appalled that Zappos sent these shoes out again without checking them-- or was the commentary from the last customer just left for my entertainment?

I got these shoes for my boyfriend. They are very attractive. Great style and color. But we had a huge problem with size! The European-American equivalency chart has to be wrong. He wears a 9.5 and sometimes, depending on the maker and style, a half size up or down. So I ordered both the 43 and 44, sizes 9-9.5 and 10-10.5 respectively. They were way too big. I have never seen a size 9-10 shoe that look like these! Gigantic. The size 43 (9-9.5) had approximately an inch of space between his toes and the toe of the shoe. We had to return those. So we ordered the equivalent to a size 8-8.5, a 42. STILL TOO BIG!! He has never worn an 8 or an 8.5 in his adult life. Another return (thank you Zappos for your free shipping and return policy. We ordered the size 41 equivalent to a size 7 to 7.5. Ridiculous!! But those are the ones that fit his size 9.5 foot. I don't know if the chart was wrong or what but this was crazy. I gave the shoes an overall rating of 2 just to indicate there was an issue. But the issue was with the sizing only. The shoe is beautiful and once we found the size that fit him, very comfortable.

I've always loved Ecco and Zappos and have enjoyed both for years. Despite knowing the run a little larger than I'm used to, I mistakenly forgot to adjust for this fact. So blown away with the Zappos exchange policy. This was my first experience with having to return for a smaller size and everything worked so fast and efficiently. Love the shoes and service! Lifelong customer.

Worn Eccos for 20+ years, always a size 42 (sometimes) 43 (almost always). This shoe is a SIZE LARGER than any of my previous 20ish pairs) of echoes shoes including dress and casual. I had this exact pair of Holton Apron Tie's about 6-7 years ago and they were also a size TOO LARGE for me. My recommendation is size DOWN one whole size. I ordered a pair of 42's, but they were too large, so ordered a pair of 41's. Size 41's fit perfectly.

Nice color, soft on my feet top and bottom. I have worn it everyday since buying it. Glad I replaced my old ecco that lost its cushion.

These shoes are well-made like other Ecco styles I have ordered. I would recommend them for comfort and looks.

I bought these to replace an old pair. They are classic office work shoes but comfortable and good for walking.

I have to be honest and say that this is a replacement for the same show that I already own! So I sort of knew ahead of time that it would be good for me. The only brand shoe that I wear is Ecco and I like every style I have purchased. If you want a sturdy comfortable shoe with good support this will work.

Excellent size and fit. Very comfortable. I usually wear an E width, but these fit very well. The out sole is comfortable, but squeaks a little on hard surfaces like tile. At $180 I hope the sole holds up well enough to justify the price. The inside leather lining is outstanding, very comfortable. They are a great choice for the office.

I usually wear a 10 W...the 43 fit perfectly when I removed the removable insole. It is a shame to take it out, as it is a nice insole. Once the shoes break in, maybe I can put it back, but they are a bit too snug with it in right now. My last pair of Eccos were similar to these and lasted 10 years and never had to change the sole. Hope these last half as long. I am a teacher so mainly walk inside with them, not in the street. I don't like this style as much, but they are as close as I could find. I need a comfortable shoe and these are great.

Everything about this shoe is perfect. This is my fourth or fifth pair of Ecco shoes. I am a high school administrator so I need a dress shoe that is versatile and can last through the day and night. This shoe is all of those things. I get compliments all the time. I wore my last pair until there was a hole in the sole, literally. I can't believe I let them get that bad but they still felt comfortable so I didn't even notice. This pair of shoes will go with almost every outfit. It can be dressed down with a pair of jeans and a blazer or goes nicely with a suit.

It is hard (almost impossible) to find small size dress shoes that have polished and elegant designs. I am really happy ECCO offers great style and sizing options.
