Bought these for a recent trip to New Zealand. They are super comfortable, fit well, and easy to break in. I accidentally purchased a half size too small so I felt it on the hills but other wise these shoes did great! Will definitely be purchasing the next half size up to use for my next adventure.

These shoes are the best shoes I have ever owned. I hike a lot of trails, so I rely on my shoes to get me where I need to go. They have fabulous traction. They are comfortable. And, they are waterproof. I will never buy another pair of shoes for hiking again now that I have found the best. Thanks North Face!

These are pretty great hiking shoes. I have a borderline wide foot, and the shoe is not restricting at all. I tested them out on a little 6 mile hike and have no complaints so far. No heel or toe rubbing, and my felt felt comfortable. There is not a whole lot of padding, so if that's your jam, this might not be the shoe for you. Plenty of room in toe box. Laces are great. I'm very pleased overall.

Finally had to replace my old Hedgehogs after many many years and miles. Love these shoes. Sizing is different than the old Hedgehogs so I had to size up 1/2 size to my normal running shoe size of 8.5. (due to variance in sizing had to ship back the 8s, go with 8.5--which is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5.) Great light weight waterproof shoe.

I walk on concrete all day, pacing constantly. No aching feet or toes with these shoes! I've been wearing "professional" type work shoes for years. No more! Granted, I removed the insole and replaced it with Powerstep arch support, which I've been using in everything for several years now. I will buy another pair of Hedgehogs very soon and alternate them day to day for longer wear.

I love the look of this shoe, the only reason I couldn't keep them was even when I went up a half size I found the toe box too shallow for my comfort. Otherwise I would have loved to have kept them.

This is my first hiking shoes. Wear it during hiking at Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia. The shoe grip so well especially when descending the summit, almost 45deg slope, dry rocks. However the shoes can be slippery when walking on wet rocks. The shoe is waterproof but somehow the cold wind still managed to get through making my feet become very cold. Nevertheless it is a good shoe and i love it.

My last two pairs of hiking shoes were New Balances, this is my first pair from The North Face, (I got them on sale). I am very happy with them. No break-in necessary, very comfortable right out of box.

Perfect waterproof shoe and nice style & color. A little on the "heavy" side, but good for what I need them for. I am not doing miles in these shoes. Great traction too.

TNF Hedgehogs have been my everyday shoe for 3 years and so I'm writing to contrast this version with the previous version. The bottom line is: this is a lighter shoe. I'm disappointed by this primarily because the last is much less rigid than it used to be. I can twist the shoe 90 degrees from heel to toe, and I can bend the shoe through the ball almost as much. If I wanted shoes that looked like hiking books but worked like running shoes I'd still be in my Merrells. I switched to this shoe to protect my plantar fascia after a tear injury. The previous versions have worked very well for this -- being reliable companions for long walks, rocky trails, and sandy trails. Since I've started wearing the new version I've started having foot pain again and my feet and ankles tire much faster. I imagine sometime in the future the minimalist shoe craze will pass and TNF will return to making these shoes with the principles of a light boot instead of a trendy outdoor shoe. Until that time I think I'm going to have to find something else.

The first time I had the shoes on my feet I hiked 8 miles in the Columbia River Gorge. Overall, they were very comfortable and would definitely buy another pair.

It is a great looking shoe and I bought because it is GORETEX. I wear a 7.0 in most well made shoes. I usually wear a 7.0 in a shoe, 7.5 in a boot/winter boot, and bought a 7.5 in this shoe as the shoe finder told me. I have a medium foot and needed a relaxed toe box as I am healing from sever broken foot bones.
The shoe is deep on the sides and it is a Medium Plus in width. Changing in soles would still leave the shoe too big across the forefoot.
I am more on the narrow-medium side as to a medium-wide side. If I wore orthotics now, as I have before, this shoe could have been perfect.

I normally wear a size 8 on all of my shoes except hiking shoes and sneakers where I wear a 7.5. Based on the reviews and how most said they run small I ordered a size 8 but when I received them, they were too big and these are also wide. I exchanged them for a 7.5. I am planning on wearing these on vacation next month where we will be hiking a lot. In my opinion these run big.

I loved my old North Face shoes. These were almost identical except now the side of the shoe is higher. The higher side cut into my ankle. So sad. They had to be returned.

Good stability, nice color (beige) but fit is not good for me. In 9M, sides rub my ankles, heel slips.

I really wanted to love these shoes. I have a pair of Northface similar to this pair I ‘ve had for years and love them. I’ve searched to replace them with out luck. All the newer shoes are too narrow in the toe box. I’m dissapointed and will research other shoe brands for trail shoes.

The shoes are nice, they are comfortable and fell very good for walking in dry floor. The problem is when you are hiking in humid or rainy weather the shoes are very very slippery and it becomes dangerous. I already fall 2 times hiking in wet rocks, and the people I was with didn't have any problem walking in that type of floor with other shoes.

These were too high in the back to feel comfortable and they looked a little "sneakerish"....going back.

I loved the look of this shoe, but its quality paled in comparison to the Merrell Moab. The sole is more that of a sneaker than a hiking shoe, and the insole feels like cardboard. It's also pretty narrow. Sent it back.

I have bought several pairs of north face shoes. They last much longer than other branda, and are very comfortable. I find them to be very true to size, with a beautiful bright blue accent color.
I'm on my feet a lot as a lifeguard and summer camp director and these shoes are perfect for long summer days working and for my weekend adventures. Highly recommend, I love my northface shoes!!!!

3 Stars b/c the metal eyelets are rough and have already caused my laces to break. I've only had these for 5 months and wear them every week on hikes and I expect better of the North Face. We ended up sanding the inside of the metal eyelets so I can get more wear out of these.
Otherwise, the fit with my orthotics and waterproofness are great. Zappos CS went above and beyond as always to help troubleshoot, including offering to call the NF Warranty Dept.!

I loved those shoes....very comfortable, weatherproof but they wear out to fast.... After one year owning them the sole was useless :-/
Wish they would last longer!!!!

Wish I could keep them but unfortunately it comes a bit narrow. I've never purchased a North Face shoes before. Maybe it's only me. My left foot fits a bit better than my right one. I have to return them. They are nice looking shoes but perhaps should order half a size bigger.

These are very stiff and were a little to tall as they rubbed my ankle. Normally I wear a 10 in something like Merrell but these were too big.

The shoes really hurt my toes and my heels after 5 miles hiking. It narrows at the toes area but wide at the ankles so it is not the shoes for going downhill. Customer services were not helpful at all.
