Everyday, I wake up and put on my Hedgehogs - for light hiking, daily chores, walking around in the mall with my daughter. They are extremely well-built and comfortable but, I have a more important need that they fulfill. Having an orthotic in my right shoe, the heel space is consumed a bit by it, leaving me with less support under normal circumstances. The Hedgehogs are one of the only normal height shoe that can accommodate my needs without my heel slipping upwards while going about my business. They remain the same level of comfort as when the orthotic is left out of the shoe. Three pairs have been consumed by my hiking them to death - they are worth EVERY penny of the cost. Thank you to The North Face for continuing this line.

I was in the market for some New Balance shoes, but they have changed their designs to look more feminine, not my cup of tea when you are 6 foot 4. I gave North Face a chance, and will continue to buy these shoes. I am buying a second pair as a backup. I love then, rugged, masculine, and gortex. Keep up the good work, you have a new buyer in the future.

AMAZING SHOES! Wore them on a mail route everyday for 18 months. Rain,Snow,Ice,and alot of MILES. Buying my 2nd pair now. Thankyou North face, other athletic name brands last about 4 to 6 months on my route. Please keep making them!

Having flat feet New shoes are always a gamble. These shoes are wide enough and the arch is soft enough that it doesn't hurt. Worth the money.

Just replaced my first pair after more than 6 years. Not my daily wear, but between hiking, working around the house, and living through Seattle winters these shoes just would not die. These are not as waterproof as a full grain leather and gore-tex hiking boot, but have never had any issues in reasonable conditions. In the last 6 years TNF has updated their fit on these. The heel cup is a little deeper and snugger, and the toe box is a little narrower. The flexibility in the uppers over the toe flexion point is also much better and they haven't needed as much breaking in. Will buy again in another 6 years :-)

Love these shoes. Very comfortable for long hikes and walks. Waterproof always great. I've hiked 8+ miles in the city and same off-road and comfy on both.

Have worn these for a year through winter and summer, keeps me warm and dry in snow but breathes in hot weather, my feet never sweat. Use for hiking and every day wear. Have walked through streams and when water went over the top they quickly dried. Show almost no signs of wear and clean up easily. Great traction.

These shoes are in credible! They last forever and very comfortable to wear.

I have hiked in these shoes from day one. My hikes have included cold weather, hot weather, flat terrain, water crossings, rocky terrain, and very steep terrain. I have owned them for about 6 months. I used to wear a Merrill Moab Waterproof, and these are superior. First, you should be aware that these have very little cushion in them, I was surprised to see that and it turned me off at first, until I started to wear them. I was shocked to find them very comfortable despite the lack of padding. The best compliment I can give a hiking shoe is that they simply vanish, meaning you forget about them while you're wearing them because they just work perfectly. They are lighter than the Merrills, which is a big advantage. They are also very tough, I have not been gentle on them and they are holding up like a champ. My main draw to them was the metal lace loops, something you don't find on many low rise hiking shoes. The GoreTex is fantastic, waded through a stream recently, socks were bone dry, even after I stood in the water for a while. I have also done many high temperature hikes in them, my feet stay cool (good socks also help). Bottom line, I would buy these again and I have no problem telling a friend or family to do the same.

I have worn these shoes for some years and have been totally satisfied. I've worn them with thick socks. I recently wore them every day on a trip to Norway, on compacted snow and on ice. They kept me warm and dry, and had great traction. I hardly needed my insulated boots.

Great for my knees. I was hit by a car 2yrs ago on crosswalk and these have helped. Comfortable, grippy and stable. I've worn them year round being water proof breathable GORE-TEX. The neutral black is the best colour for work, less noticeable. I'd like to get the Mid version as well, for deeper snow. I'd like to see them offered in black as well. Hoping they won't be discontinued, Im buying more.
