I got these after I destroyed my feet last year running in ill-fitting shoes. My research found that some have cured their plantar fasciitis by eliminating support in their shoes, strengthening their feet and retraining their feet to work as designed. They recommended those five-finger shoes, but, well, I'm not going to wear those. I've been wearing other minimalist shoes (some flat no-heel Merrell boots all winter and some Cushe slip-ons and flip flops this spring) but I needed something for hiking after feeling crippled the morning after walking 6 miles in regular hiking boots. These definitely take some getting used to, but they are helping. The morning after 6 miles in these, my legs were tired (mostly because I haven't been able to hike, I think) and my feet were sore, but the day after that, my feet felt the best that they have in months. I liked the way my soles got a little massage from tree roots and rocks, stimulating all those nerve endings that never get to feel anything in other shoes. I had to go slower, since my feet weren't used to all that stimulation, but I'm sure with time that I'll be able to do higher-mileage hikes and maybe even some trail running in these. It's still early in my recovery, but I am certain that minimalist is the way to go if you have plantar fasciitis. And go completely barefoot whenever you can.

First, I love Merrells, have for years and have a ton of different styles. They fit me perfectly and are comfortable from day one. These are no exception - for those of you who mourn the original gloves with the elastic heel and who hated the next generation, these are far more like the originals. Highly recommended if you are looking for a barefoot shoe - I wear them walking all the time, so they aren't limited to the trail. Not crazy about the colors and I wish there were a more subdued option, but that's more the current style than a negative.

This are awesome, and I am never going back to other brands of running shoes. They will seem a little large in the toebox at first, but this is on purpose so your toes can splay out and works fine with socks. I very much recommend taking it easy at first; it will feel like someone is punching you in the heel and the ball of your foot will be quite sore after the first run or two. However, after about 6 weeks of ~30 miles weekly, my feet look and feel totally different, I run without knee pain, and find my posture much better. I took these out for 8 miles last Friday and it went great. Plan to wear them for a 1/2 marathon in 6 months.

These fit exactly as I was hopping. This is at least my tenth pair of Merrells and my second pare of the Barefoot style running shoe. Once you become accustomed to the fit and feel of this shoe you will always want to own a pair. Please continue to give us stylish choices, because your fans have spoken! There is a break in period though for first timers. Do not attempt to wear for more than few hours each time before your foot gets uses to the feel. But once they have broken in you can almost forget you have anything on your feet and wear them all day long.

Love these! Super lightweight, comfy, take up almost no room in the pack. I couldn't wait to slip them on at the end of a long day hiking the Chilkoot Trail. They feel a little sturdier than a different brand I shredded while hiking on lava in HI - real fabric rather than light nylon mesh on top.

This is a wonderful shoe. I'm not a runner so can't speak to that. Instead, I'm on older woman who is rehabbing a body gone wrong. I find this shoe to be one of the best tools I have found. My trainer is really supportive of barefoot technology as well. The shoe is cute, ridiculously comfortable, plenty wide in the toe box to keep it from scrunching toes, and just lets feet be as they are. This will definitely not be my last pair of Vapor Gloves.

I've been wearing barefoot-style (minimal) shoes for several years now to keep my feet healthy and the muscles associated with walking/running barefoot strong, so arch support isn't an issue for me. I tried these because I need a hiking shoe that can get wet and dry quickly, which my everyday, leather Softstar shoes aren't made to do. These fit the bill and are very comfortable, but be aware that they aren't like regular, super-padded and supportive athletic shoes (which I can no longer wear because they are uncomfortable!). I originally ordered the Crown Blue color, which is really pretty, but the pink on the shoes is VERY bright compared to the more subdued salmon color that shows up when viewing online. I'm just not into the neon sport shoe fad, so I returned them for the black color. These should be great when hitting the trail this spring and summer!

I LOVE this shoe...but one problem: it frays on the side where the foot is widest. The fabric lasted only a 3 months, while the Vibram sole is in perfect condition. PLEASE make this shoe in a wide, esp. since those of us who have trod barefoot many years are more likely to have wide feet.

I LOVE these!! This is my first barefoot type shoe so I can't compare to others similar. However, I am a massage therapist, on my feet and at my place you can't go barefoot. Sneakers are never comfortable for me after a couple of hours. These shoes? I can wear for 6-7 hours and forget theyre even on my feet. I love how my feet feel. I love how they position my body when I'm standing in them. I love they way they make my size 10 feet look smaller than a typical sneaker does. I cannot say enough good about them!

I'm not a runner, I just enjoy the barefoot feel. These are super comfortable and stylish. True to their name, they fit my feet like a glove.

I love these! They are super light and flexible! I use them for work, 12 hour nursing shifts. They are so comfortable they feel like they're just a part of me. I often forget I'm even wearing shoes because they don't distract me in anyway. I used to wear Danksos, I was always thinking about my feet in those clunky shoes (and my coworkers were too. They're much happier with my switch! They say I've stopped complaining about my feet). The only thing that isn't perfect they way the top lace hits my foot. If I tie it too tight it causes pressure (and pain) on the top of my foot. I just have to adjust it carefully. The shoe laces don't like to stay tied either, but they are short enough that it doesn't cause a hazard. I bought them to replace a similar shoe made by Keen that was discontinued.

Adore this minimalist shoe - which replaced my Five-fingers. The colors, the wide toe box that fits snugly, the perfect amount of protection yet a true barefoot feel. I am ordering another because the fabric disintegrate quickly...(pic). I hope Merrell strengthens them, but in the meantime, they are affordably priced so buying them again. Also packing them takes no space at all.

Got these for day hiking and they quickly became my everyday-wear shoe. I love minimalist shoes and being able to splay out my toes and feel the ground beneath me. My feet feel nice and strong, they are never sore after wearing these after a long day, even when walking on concrete for hours. I don't even mind wearing them in the rain because they're airy and my feet dry quickly. Plus these are super cute and actually make my feet look small, which is really nice when you have big clown feet! They were also the perfect shoe when I fractured my heel - I couldn't wear anything with a thick heel because it put on too much pressure and my foot would ache horribly. Unfortunately, I've had them two years and after wearing them almost every day they are starting to wear down. The fabric on the inside, by the ball of the foot, has started to pull away from the insole so the white mesh interior is showing. It's a real shame because it's hard to find a barefoot shoe that isn't garish, so I might just end up getting a second pair.

These shoes are super light weight and function as advertised. I have wide-ish feet and typically wear a 9.5 - these felt true to size and had room for my wider feet. I think they'd bee fine for average feet too. I've done treadmill/elliptical workouts and weight training wearing these and have been very happy with the comfort level. Plus - super cute!

I love them! They are cute with work out clothes or dress slacks. They are a minimalist shoe. If you're looking for support , this is not for you. They have a nice wide toebox. They do not slip on my heel. This is my second pair.

Great shoe! One of my 2 favorite Merrell models. Great toe room. This is my third pair of this model. I got the Castlerock colir. Unfortunately, I had to go outside Zappos to get a 2nd pair in the size/color I wanted (9/Crown Blue). Guess I wasn't fast enough. My other favorite walking shoe is Merrell's Bare Access Arc 4. The BAA4 has a little more padding, so if I know the terrain is groomed gravelly trails/roads, I generally wear BAA4s. However, I have worn the Vapors on gravel surfaces without any problem. Love them for the gym, too. Mine have held up through numerous 10k walks/hikes & 5k dog walks in my neighborhood. The way I know it's time to buy more is by looking at the wear on the treads. Based on recent reviews, I really hope Merrell isn't going cheap on this model, as they seem to have done on some of their sandals. Time will tell.

A bit early to form an opinion really as I've only had them one day, but I'll go ahead with my first impressions. They are my first barefoot shoes. I hope they won't be my last. I have orthopedic problems too numerous to mention after multiple surgeries. I won't be running in them, but hope to work up to walking a mile or so in them, with stops along the way. I have tried EVERYTHING else in shoes styles, insoles, orthotics, physical therapy and years of visits to health professionals. Nothing works. So I'm going with what my body seems to be telling me: let it be itself without all the artificial supports. I'm hoping my ailing muscles will strengthen in the right places and the overworked ones will be under less strain. In any event, they are so light and comfortable if they don't provide relief I will wear them for flying, and cycling etc. It was very exciting to walk outside in them for a very short way today! I did have to exchange the pair I got today because there is a defect in the stitching under the tongue that rubs my toes. Zappos great as always and sending a replacement pronto.

Highly recommend! Just as the other reviews have said, I have nothing but positive things to say about these shoes. They DO feel like gloves on your feet, snug in the ankle and wide in the toe box to give you plenty of flexibility. Very light weight and great color too! Mesh outer feels great running in warm weather but I figure in winter I might need thicker socks. They change the way you run for the better. I trail run and yes, you do feel more of the bumps, twigs and rocks in the ground but this new challenge makes for a more focused run that forces me to connect and respond to the terrain. I have one bad ankle and feel much more confident about that ankle now with these shoes. My calves are still getting used to the new running style but I only have had these shoes a couple weeks.

I love these shoes. I have high arches and where inserts didn't help recent arch and toe pain during running, these have been awesome. Super comfortable.

I love this shoe! It is almost like the Barefoot Run Vapor Glove But in a fabulous color combo (green, purple and blue). The slight change in the styling of the fabric seems to make my foot appear smaller. It is so comfortable it feels like I'm walking around in thick socks - comfortable even on my severe hammer toe. They are great for all the walking around I do at work but I prefer a thicker sole for outside. I am between size 9.5 and 10 and the 9.5 fits me perfectly.

I absolutely love these barefoot. I have the coral and I just ordered the purple. They are so comfortable!

LOVE THIS SHOE! However, after only two months of wearing it for running, it is already beginning to tear. It's great for running, especially trails, but the mesh is not sturdy enough. Quite disappointing.

Probably better for rock climbing - no support whatever but GORGEOUS! Back it goes. Thank you Zappos for continuing to bring us the best and brightest.

Perfect for my rowing machine! The shoe takes some getting used to but I love the barefoot feel! I take an 8.5 in sneakers and the fit was perfect. A winner

These shoes are soon cute and comfey! They are like wearing tennis shoe slippers! They mold to my foot perfectly, and I can wear them all day with no foot fatigue. I bought the purple and orange ones.
