Been buying these shoes for years. Use them as an all around utility shoe. Running, Gym, Outdoor Work, Fishing Etc.. In general I use for anything that requires good grip & good support. Wear them 4-5 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time, at that rate I buy a new pair every 2-3 years. Been buying them since 2007, Very well built. Goretex waterproofing works really well, pull string laces are awesome in cold/wet weather. Not a bad thing to say about the shoes, I ordered two pairs this time since Zappos had the all black versions which I like a lot better.

These are waterproof and I like the lacing system. I ordered a pair last year, same size 8. I always size down a half size with Salomons but but this years model feels a half size too large. Sadly, returning.

This is my fifth pair of these shoes. I normally take an 11.5 but ordered the 12.5 and it fits well. This shoe seems more narrow then past ones, hopefully after break-in they will loosen up.

These are about eight ounces heavier per shoe than my previous generation XA Pro GTXs. normally I wear a size 12D in cowboy boots, combat boots, and most other hiking boots. Previously I have been a 14 in Salomons (three pairs of XA Pros), now apparently I am a 13 - so the "full size larger" is relative to my previous experience with Salomon shoes. they remain amazingly comfortable, but due to the weight I will not be using them for physical fitness tests. I will, however, continue to train with them as the extra weight is beneficial from that perspective. support is great, they are solid on my heel and arch area. All the extra size feels like it is in the toe box. Also, the rubber cap feels substantially sturdier on this model than previous ones. We will see if it lasts over a year prior to the soles delaminating as I have experienced previously (and fixed with Shoe Goo - overseas, no choice). The last three pairs each lasted about six months each of daily wear in extremely austere environments hiking long and heavy through mud, sand, silt, water, and snow, with shoe maintenance being nonexistent. I found Salomons at the recommendation of a teammate after a pair of highly-rated M-brand shoes fell apart in a week and I have beat every pair mercilessly since. They always seem to last at least a few weeks longer than I need them to. They would be five stars across the board if the fit was consistent with previous generation of this model.
