Bought these for my wife and she loves them

OK, we need to get one thing straight. These are NOT practical hiking boots....they're FASHION boots! And they're REALLy REALLY cute! I wouldn't consider hiking more than a few blocks in these, and I'm an avid hiker. They're stiff and heavy...and there are so many other hiking boots and hiking shoes and on the market that these would be on the bottom of my list for hiking. However, they are definitely authentic and have a genuine old-school look to them that makes them irresistible to wear in the winter with cute outfits. I get compliments every single time I wear them....and that's NEVER on the trail. Expensive, yes! But they will last two lifetimes and never go out of style.

Love these! Only reason for a three star on comfort is they are stiff, but will break in nicely! I am a solid 8.5 and these are just right.

These run a size LARGE! my husband and I both had to return for whole size smaller! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL & COMFY!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Your gonna get nonstop compliments on these hiking boots. They do take a little time to break them in but once they mold to your foot, your good to go!

I have been looking for nice hiking boots when I noticed the Danner Mountain Light Cascade. I loved that they are made in the USA. The price was hard to take on but I knew these would last 15-20 years. When they arrived, I was taken back by the quality and craftsmanship. Just beautiful! They fit true to size and I started the process of breaking them in. They are very stiff and need to be broken in a few hours a day. I wear them with thick wool socks for maybe 2 hours and this seems to be working. I will increase the amount of time each week until my hiking trip in April. I wear between a 8.5 to 9 and I went with the 8.5 and am glad I did. You will not be sorry to invested in these boots!

I love everything about my new Danner boots! The quality is excellent, the fit was true to size in my opinion and the style is unrivaled as far as cute hiking boots go...I know I will wear these in the city and out in the woods. I will say that they are not the most comfortable fit right out of the box. As with any leather shoe, it will take time to mold to your foot. Also noticed the digging into my achellies, so before returning I took steps to break them in at home on carpet for 2 months before even walking outside. They still are currently more comfortable when worn with 2 pairs of socks. But go ahead and beat up the leather in the back of the boot to soften the dig into your ankle. Also keep bending the boot back and forth to start breaking in the front. After awhile you'll be fine and you will try to find reasons to wear them all the time, not just on hikes...I promise!

I got these boots because they looked awesome and I love the red laces, I got them and they are a little hard around the ankle but they will break in. The leather is amazing. I live in S. California and even though the weather is not cold and rough the boots are great and different. I already wore them in the rain and they did a great job.

Just like every other girl, I had to have these after seeing Wild. They remind me of the "Colorado" brand hiking boots I had back in the day. Danner really does need to reconsider how they cut the back ankle area of these boots, for that I knocked off a star. The back of the ankle is angled inward, making it cut into your achilles area. For some people, I can see how this will blister. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this area breaks in but I have a feeling it will always be a problem to some extent. Ordering a size larger is not the answer as the foot bed is plenty big for me. One solution might be that the put a padded area around the ankle covered in black like Timberlands? The laces could be designed to hold the tongue together around the front a little better as well. Aside from that, these are very sturdy boots that obviously will last me a long time. Great traction. Nice color. Very warm, it's nice that they are waterproof. They come off and on very easy, no struggling with getting them pulled off. I have been wearing them around the house and I can see how the heat of my feet is making them mold to my foot shape. I wear a size 7 and 'sometimes' get a 7.5, so I got these in a 7 and they fit perfectly. Nice space in the toes even with thick socks. I will be getting some moleskin like others have recommended for around the back of the ankle, but it's a bit ridiculous that I have to do that with a pair of hiking boots at this price. I'm not the only one complaining about this so come on Danner. If I didn't want these so bad due to wanting some different than every pair of dude looking Timberlands out there, I would send them back for the ankle issue.

I am totally obsessed with these boots! They're gorgeous and comfy... Take a little while to wear in, but absolutely worth it. I'm usually a 7 or a 7.5 and I ended up taking a 6.5 in these - I found they ran really big. And I can wear the 6.5 with my Smartwools. Thanks, Zappos, for your fantastic return policy.

Very happy with this boot. Just got these today. Had them on for about 5 hours. After the first 15 minutes I could feel my left achilles starting to rub. Fortunately I had moleskin, put it on, and wore the boots around the rest of the day. In addition to wearing them in the house, I also walked outside about a mile. I would definitely say they run true to size, if not a little roomy length wise, which is how they are supposed to fit. Too many women are used to spending their days with their toes squished, and then when they can finally wiggle them a bit they think their shoes are too big. Ladies if you didn't have wiggle room and you hike up and especially down hills, you will lose your toenails! You are better off wearing a thicker pair of socks, as long as your heel isn't slipping. Beautifully made boot, I expect to have these for years.

Ordered these on 12/23 in my regular size. Got them on 12/24. Love them. They look great and feel great. wore them around for a few days and then used them for two day hikes on a trip to AZ. Wonderful.

I'm a 9.5. I ordered the 9.5 and it comes EE width so they are wider and they were too big. I ordered a 9 to see which would fit better and the 9 worked. I would go a half size down.

I originally bought these a half size smaller than I normally wear. The toe box was cramped and way too small. I sent them back and ordered my normal size and the fit was perfect. These boots take time to break in, so be prepared. I wore mine for 15-20 minutes a day once a day for a week. The second week, I did two rounds of 15/20 minutes. By week three, I was wearing them for a half a day. Invest in some moleskin for your achilles area, while you are breaking them in. Don't overdo it, or your feet will hate you for it. Tighten them up good, especially at the ankle. If you are going to buy these boots, also invest in some good wool hiking socks.

Loved the look of the boot, but they felt a bit heavy. I didn’t wear the around to break them in because I needed to return them. I’m a true 8 and I ordered an 8. They were too big, I should have listened to the reviews and ordered down a half size.

I am usually an 8.5 or 9 in a boot--the 81/2 was too big so went with the 8--perfect. These boots are FULL ON classic style and cool which is the only reason I would pay so much for them and put in the effort to break them in before I have to wear them hiking/touring Iceland. They really are awesome. Just hoping as others have said that the stiff leather that rubs the back of your heel softens over time and effort!

Waaay too big!

These boots are aesthetically exactly what I was looking for. However, if you have high arches, there is no arch support. There is a cushioned bottom so they are fairly comfortable besides the arches. There are plastic inserts included, but they did not work for me. I would not buy these if you are looking for something with extreme support, comfort, and overall performance for hiking and backpacking. But if you are just looking for a good boot to wear for everyday and the occasional hike, these are really nice! They are very well made and the sole can be replaced so they will last you a lifetime.

The first time I tried the boots on, I found them to be very uncomfortable - stiff leather, bulky tongue, hard/flat sole. It felt as though the boots were missing the insole. After reading many reviews' most of which were positive, I decided to give the boots a try. I've worn the boots several days now, walking a couple of miles per day and I haven't encountered and blisters, pain, or fatigue in my feet. I wore the boots one day without the orthotic inserts and they are definitely more comfortable with the inserts than without. Overall, the boots are very well made and I hope to use them for a long time.
