Haven't gotten to take these out on a trail yet, but they came in the mail today and i can't stop walking around the house in them. Slipping them on my feet made me fall in love. The most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever put on. excellent support and they came with inserts! Took me three months of saving up but totally worth it. Will post a second review after their maiden voyage!

Initially looking to replace my Asolo 525 for a variety of reasons, primary one being extremely slippery sole. (Note that these two Vibram soles are much different.) While these two boots may not be exactly comparable, I've been pleased with this boots performance. A couple of cautions: you will need to size down 1/2 size. And: This boot requires upkeep and conditioning. It also requires a break-in period. Your heels will thank you. If you understand that you are buying quality boots from an outstanding manufacturer that are *leather* and all that entails... welcome to the wonderful world of Danner. These are, indeed, quality boots. They don't have the ankle stability of the Asolos, but most are over-booted on the trail, anyway. The sole is sticky and tacky in the way you want a boot to be in the wet conditions. The leather WILL stretch in the first break-in period. Prepare for multiple stops and readjustments. If you're slow and dilagent, this may be the last best boot you ever own. I now grab these over my Asolos for every adventure without hesitation or regret. Also... A company in Portland who stands behind every one of their boots. Much love.

Super sturdy and really cute! I bought these to wear in the snow and they did not disappoint. I wouldn't size down (I wear an 11 and bought true to size) as other users recommend since I'd normally wear a thicker sock with it anyway and it allows a little extra space for that. The only issue I had with them is that the ankle rubs a bit on my achilles and I developed a couple of blisters, but I wore them for eight hours the first day I had them, so I think they just need a little breaking in. Would highly recommend!

I usually wear a size 8 but I purchased a size 7.5 in these boots. They fit great! There's enough room for when I want to wear a thicker sock with them, but also fit very nicely with "normal" socks. Right now the leather is very stiff, but I can tell they're made exceptionally well. I can't wait to break them in and go on some hikes with my new Danners! Thank you, Zappos, for making my first Zappos buying experience a good one.

Best boots. Ever! Bought these in my normal size 8.5 and they fit perfectly. Wore them for the first time (out of box to foot) on a 2 hour hike and had absolutely no pain. No break in time needed. I also have higher arches and have had numb toes in every other pair of hiking boots I've ever owned. Not with these! Great grip on slick rocks. Totally waterproof. Amazing! Buy these boots!

They boots are the best! I recently purchased them in size 9, my normal size, and they fit perfectly! I saw on the Danner website and on some reviews that it said to size down, but I would not do that! The 9 fit me perfectly. I will admit the first time I put them on I had some rubbing on my achilles, but I'm attributing that to the fact that I was wearing really thin socks. The next day when I put them on with thick/proper socks, I had no pain. They are beautifully made, a very pretty color, and made in the USA! They are a bit pricey but I expect to have these for many many years! Buy them!

Ordered two sizes. I am a solid 8.5 normally. Ordered 8 and 8.5. 8.5 was a tad too roomy and 8 was classic hugging Danner fit. I was nervous about size to keep but I don't wear crazy thick socks either. Wear smart wool socks and go down 1/2 size. If you wear thicker socks or are at the top of your size, order normal size. A lot of room by ankle and 8.5 had too much extra movement which I can see giving blisters and becoming too sloppy after wear. Trust Danner sizing; they are spot on.

Bought my regular size 7.5. These boots fit right out of the box. Wore them around the house with wool blend hiking socks. Should get even more comfortable as the leather molds more with wearing. I also wear Lowa hiking boots but those appear a bit lighter.

I love the classic look of these boots! Instant compliments. They're very stiff starting out and I can tell it'll take a while to break them in, but given their icon status as hiking boots I know it's possible. I went a half size down and the fit is perfect.

Fit was roomy, but you want room for a thick sock. Very stiff, like walking in a ski boot. Main problem was the pressure on the Achilles’ tendon was way too intense. I didn’t feel like I could break that in without serious pain. Returning for that reason. Such a bummer, because they look super cool.

The boots are beautiful. The Achilles area is a big problem however. They actually broke the skin the first time I wore them out of the house. I loved the look so much that I took a hammer to the top back in hopes of expediting the break is process. While it helped, the pain is still a problem even with socks.

I’ve been wanting these for years!!! Thanks to Zappos for an amazing deal I got my boots finally! They’re everything! So many compliments. They do run big I got a 8.5 and they were perfect and I also tried a 9, which were big… and I wear 8.5-9.5 depending on styles. That is fitted w nice wool socks. They are chunky and heavier than some others but worth it to me! Classic and retro and amazing .

Great boot! Unfortunately they were too big. I was going to get a half size smaller but they did not have my size. Had to send back but bought another pair of Danners. I would definitely recommend these boots. They are well built and American made.

These are by far my favorite fall/winter boots - fashionable and comfortable! I wear them with so many different outfits and always get compliments. Above all of that - they’re comfortable! Well worth the investment.

Love this boot! I am usually an 8 but had to order down as I slipped at the heel in the size 8 - when I ordered the 7.5 it fit well but the clasps on the right shoe were placed a bit wonky so it looked like I was wearing two left shoes - I had to return it - will order another and hope that was a one off (as they are all handmade I figure some irregularities can happen - it was just to obvious on the pair I got and for the price I returned and reordered) - can’t wait for the replacement!

Great boots. Comfortable and good looking. I’m a 7/7.5 depending on the shoe. I went with a 7.5 to give room for thicker socks.

after reading all the reviews, I decided to go with my true shoes size 8. In running shoes I wear an 8 1/2-9. the size 8 fit me perfect. they feel like slippers. So happy. The toe box is perfect. thought i had a wide foot, but the toe box fits perfect. Can't wait to go hiking in them. Plus they are super stylish

I bought these Danner’s after purchasing a couple other styles: -The Mountain 600s are almost just as beautiful and awesome for mild day hiking and water proof -Trail 2650 for hot days where boots don’t work quite as well The point in bringing up these other styles is those are my hiking choices, the Mountain Light Cascade were purchased solely for more “urban adventures.” First time wearing these was relatively comfortable and I wore them for a little over 2 mile walk in February. Got a pretty bad blister on my left heel only that has a small mark still remaining in May. I didn’t wear them for a few weeks after that to allow my heel to heal. After then I wore padding or wrapped another sock around my ankle at the suggestion of other reviews and was able to wear them around my house during remote working to begin the break in process without having to be stuck in the shoes away from home. A couple months later and I feel zero pain and only wear one pair of socks ? Essentially, listen to the reviews- these may not be your hiking shoes or maybe they will. Wear them a lot, get used to what makes them different and prepare for compliments. They’re worth the price!

Love love love these boots!!! I’ve been eyeing them forever and just couldn’t bring myself to spend the money. I got a nice little bonus and decided to treat myself and I’m so glad I did. I usually go between an 8 and 8.5 - the 8.5 were huge! So i got the 8’s and they’re perfect. They’re super stylish and so comfortable! I love that they look great with jeans, hiking pants or my leggings. Strangers have literally stopped me and asked me about them ???

I haven’t worn them on a hike yet, but they fit beautifully with a thick sock and are very comfortable. With a sock on, I measured a 7, but I purchased a 6 1/2 and they fit well.
