I order from Zappos all the time but don't write reviews very often. I felt I needed to write a review for not only this shoe, but for the Tsukihoshi brand overall. My son is 8 and has autism. Long ago we were referred this brand because my son had a wide foot. I haven't stopped ordering them since. I have tried other brands every year...and get big Zappos boxes delivered with these different brands to try :). I go back to Tsukihoshi every time. Not only are they incredibly well made but the fit is comfortable and sturdy. They do run about 1/2 size big but if you know that about the brand you just figure that into your ordering. My only complaint is that I wish they had a few more colors in their shoes as the sizes get bigger (they get more plain in bigger sizes)...maybe some cool color combinations. I also wish they would do a skater/surf type of shoe. Honestly I wonder why other sneaker shoe companies don't tailor more to kids with autism. Tsukihoshi is my go to brand for my son....I just wish they had a few more options as he's getting older.

I bought two pair of these for my nine year old son (red/gray and graphite). He will only wear tennis shoes that have something to keep the tongue in place. These fit the bill because the tongue is attached to one side. I used to buy Saucony because there is a piece of Velcro on the tongue that attaches to the Velcro tab to keep the tongue in place. Saucony brand is a little cheaper but they fall apart quickly. This brand is well made. My son can wear them until he outgrows them, then we donate.

We love this brand. The tricky part about this brand, that a local shoe store taught us, is that you have to look at each style and size to see what the cm listed on the box are. For the size we purchased 1.5 US, the cm was 20.5. Unfortunately this information is not available on the zappos website or when you call and talk with a representative. The previous size we had was a 13.5 and also 20.5 cm, which is essentially the same size and why the shoe didn't fit. The cm size listed on the general shoe size is not the same thing. Zappos free shipping and returns makes problems like this not significant because you don't have to deal with the shipping costs. Great brand, great for wide feet ( runs wider than other brands) and or kids with AFO's.

My son (7, size 12 normally but 11.5 in this shoe, high instep, normal width) LOVES these shoes. He tried on about 5-6 pairs of shoes at a children's shoe store before he selected these. He is picky about very few things in life, (animal toys need to look realistic! ;), but how his shoes fit is one of these. So when I say he loves them - it comes from a kid who knows what he wants and likes. I believe it is because these accomodate a higher instep than many other shoe brands/models do. Paying attention to the fit of a shoe from the perspective of instep is so very important, and it seems to be ignored far too frequently. Anyway, he has worn the daylights out of these shoes for 3 months - choosing them over the slip on shoes he used to love - and they are going strong. Tsukihoshi shoes can be thrown in the washing machine: awesome! I am hoping when he is ready for a new pair, we will be able to find a pair of Tsukihoshis so I can continue to patronize this brand. Love!!

I love these shoes for my 8 year old son. He is VERY hard on shoes and needs something that does't lace (he can tie a shoe, just choses not to; I can't stand the laces flopping around & getting frayed.) My one complaint is the second day I saw a few loose stiches on the side of one shoe. Clearly not terrible but for the price I would expect them not to have this issue. Overall I am very happy.

My son has been wearing it for a month. Good shoes with great support. He does have flat feet so he wears it with orthotics & feels great he says. Little pricey but hopefully will hold up.

I've been ordering Tsukihoshi for many years. They are normally great for comfort and durability. This was first pain where rubber at shoe started to come off right away and it seemed the durability was lower than usual. Hopefully just a one time thing and not a trend.

I never wrote a review before, but I had to comment on these shoes. I bought them only two months ago and the toe area wore out to a complete hole on both sneakers. Zappos customer service is amazing and is refunding me, but these shoes are defective. This is the second time that this brand has disappointed. I will not buy the brand again.

My 8 year old was in love at first sight. Then he put them on and he was off to the races! The shoes run a bit big and I considered returning them for a smaller size, but the velcro strap can be latched down enough to keep my son running without any issues... and there is plenty of growing room.

My son tried these shoes on right before school and refused to take them off and wore them into school and loved them. So it's only Day 1, but I'm optimistic!

Overall some of the best quality shoes I’ve purchased for my son in the past 8 years. Stand up to constant wear and frequent machine washing and drying. Excellent support. Worth the money.

My son has been wearing Tsukihoshi sneakers for 7 years (he's now 11). I'm very sad that he's going to outgrow them soon as they only go to a size 6. They are comfortable, wear well and do not require tying. Yes, he's 11 and he should be able to tie his shoes, but he won't. Yes, they're on the expensive side for something he wears for at most a year but definitely worth it.

This is by far my sons favorite shoe. I went with the other reviewers and ended up going a size smaller as advised and it ended up fitting him perfectly. He says that they are very comfortable and even believes that he can run faster! The quality of the shoe has been very impressive. I am not seeing any edges lifting off as I usually do by now because my son wears his shoes hard (typical boy). I know that these shoes were the first ones that stood out when looking among a hundred others. I will definitely buy This brand again and will look out for any of their upcoming styles.

My son has a wide foot. We've tried other brands, but they do not fit him comfortably. He's been wearing Tsukihoshi for years, ever since the salespeople at our now-closed locally-owned children's shoe store introduced them to us. Zappos has a great selection and I enjoy using the points and periodic coupons to defray the cost.

My children love these shoes and have worn them for YEARS; however, sizing is tricky. This type seems to run 1.5 sizes larger than other brands. I had my son's foot measured at the shoe store last week and it was a Big Kid size 4 - yet he needs a size 2.5 in this style right now!

I always buy this brand for my kids bc of the arch support in this particular style. The shoes last about 6 months and they literally wear them everyday. They seem to run a half size bigger so I keep that in mind when ordering.
