I'm writing this review to give others a perspective on what I consider to be a problem with this boot. I was very satisfied with everything except for the tread pattern. The tread pattern on this boot is entirely too shallow. I bought these to replace a pair of similar boots (Clarks) that had worn out. I wanted something that would work year-round, but a major consideration was during snow that was too much for a pair of oxfords but not sufficient to break out the Sorels. It quickly became apparent that these were virtually worthless in snow. So at that point, I bought another pair of boots (Propet) and relegated these to when it was raining. Big mistake. The shallow tread pattern has worn down to no tread in a relatively short time. There other day coming into the garage from the wet outside, the boot acted like an ice skate on an ice rink. Fortunately, the ensuing fall was not serious. So I just bought a pair of boots (Drew Rockford) to replace them and reduce the fall risk (that have a much deeper and aggressive tread).

I am 73 and have been searching for a boot that is comfortable and sturdy. Not easy to find anymore. I ordered a 9.5EE (wide) and am very satisfied. Normally wear a 9.5D, but I've had to return several different boots recently because they are too tight or are simply uncomfortable for numerous reasons. Tried 10s but they feel like clown shoes or skis. The wide width (not available in some models) in this boot is very comfortable. The leather is good quality and is strong but not stiff. It appears they will break in well. The lug soles are pretty grippy, and I found I had to lift my feet off the pegs of my motorcycle to shift their position. Black leather usually results in hot feet here in the desert, but these boots have enough room for air circulation and stay acceptably comfortable. Laces are very easily adjustable and respond well to loosening or tightening when necessary. Initially, they felt a bit loose, but that went away quickly. Not an "out of the box" experience, but my feet adjusted quickly and are happy for a change. Can use my orthotic inserts in them and there is sufficient room for them without removing the stock footbed. I like these boots and recommend them for everyday use. Haven't used them for heavy work or hiking so I don't know how they would hold up for that level activity.

I got these boots for my husband... he opened the package, put them on, and has only taken them off to go to bed! He says they are light-weight, and so comfortable he forgets he is wearing boots. We sized them so he would have plenty of room for wool socks when winter comes!

I really enjoyed these when I first got them. They felt a bit small but manageable. They looked great and I got a few compliments while wearing them. I've had them for a little over a year now and unfortunately they're falling apart (wearing them around 1-2 times a week, excluding summer). The wear and tear is quite excessive for so little wearing time in my opinion. The shoe laces have torn their outer layer and the inner heel material has worn through. They're still wearable and I still like their look but I figured they would be higher quality than that for the price.

I wanted this boot to work but could not get it to fit. I first tried my regular size, 10 1/2 4E and it was way too long. So I dropped back to the 9 1/2 4E and it was still plenty long but was too tight, not wide enough . I have a weird foot shape, high arch and wide so I have problems finding a boot. I like the leather quality and looks of the boot but could not wear it.

Comfortable, and getting better as they break in. Low key style is appropriate for casual wear, they don’t look like hiking boots. Waterproof so far, on many soggy dog walks.

I bought these for my son for work. He says they felt a little bigger than his usual size but he thought it was due to the extra width provided. He wears thick socks and says they are really comfortable and give him more support than his sketchers did

These shoes are the most comfortable and durable, I’ve been buying them the last few years. I’ve been shopping Zappos for a long time I used to get my orders no later than two days the latest was three days I’m very disappointed with Zappos that this order took nine days to arrive I guess Zappos have changed it’s not the same as it used to be, very sad.

Fit and size was great. I need something sturdier for snowy colder climate.

These fit really well. Comfortable around all parts of my foot. For you 4E folks, I also suggest you take a look at NB, Propet and Dunham.

Due to bunions, boots are a difficult fit for me. These are so good that I’m ordering another pair for my hunt camp.

sometimes "wide" shoes are not really wide, so they go in the garbage after a few times. These are perfect -- they feel great. I will be ordering more of this style and other Rockport styles.
