It is hard to answer the question about Birkenstock shoes anymore that asks, "Felt true to width?" because, like so many long-term Birkenstock shoe wearers, I find that they have become narrower than they used to be. This Boston shearling clog is warm and cozy feeling on the foot but the shearling makes an already narrowed "regular" even more narrow and thus not comfortable. To wait for the shearling to mat down enough for the shoe to become "wide" enough is ridiculous. Other issues: the suede seems to be very quickly prone to scuffing and wear and for brand-new shoes, that is unacceptable. These shoes arrived with a couple of marks and a slight scuff. Plus they were delivered in a very worn looking shoebox inside a plastic mailer. For shoes that cost almost $200 (!!), this is unacceptable. Like many others, I am increasingly finding that my old, loved reliable brand Birkenstock is no longer reliable, is way too expensive and - all styles, not just the shearling - have become too narrow, even when they claim it is "regular." I have enough Birkenstocks that I can compare and I know that they have narrowed their regular. Do they have any awareness of who a typical Birkenstock customer is and why they have been buying Birkenstocks for years? Zappos is still great.

Bought the same size as my usual Birkenstock sandal size, but these were too small, perhaps because of the fur. However, the footbed was not comfortable like my other birk sandals (which felt great day 1.) These feel harder even with the fur.

I really wanted to make these work but I could not get the right fit. I started with my regular Birk size and then tried larger, regular, wide, etc. and nothing worked. Somehow the shearling affected the fit just enough. My toes were always up on the upper lip and therefore squeezed against the top of the shoe. Even the size up had this problem, plus then I was swimming in them (but the narrow was too tight for socks). So, now it's back to the regular Boston.

These run uncomfortably small. It may have just been the pair sent to me, but there seems to be a bump into the toe of the shoe on the inside, that is very uncomfortable and takes over a good couple of centimeters of the toe box. Ordered another pair- hoping it was just bad luck.

The arch support was too hard for Mom’s (91) foot and the buckle was hard for her to adjust...the shoe hurt her foot when she walked...not the thing for shoes she’d planned to use as slippers.

A lot of room for improvement with packaging! No padding around shoe so suede all scuffed. Additionally, these just weren't comfortable and disappointed with uneven shearling.

I ordered this item in the light gray. I love the shoe, but the powers that be faltered on the design. They neglected to allow extra room in an enclosed toe shoe that has a furry lining. I purchased to wear in the house and good thing, since there is no way you can wear a sock comfortably in this shoe. Perhaps if you went up a full size that would work but to just wear in the house, I can go sockless. This is the first time ever, that I ordered Birkenstock's and had a fit issue. The shoe is well made, love the color, is comfy WITHOUT socks, but because of the design flaw I can’t rate it highly or really recommend it.

I so wanted to try to make these work. There is a sewn in Birkenstock tag that hits my arch when wearing these shoes, and it's annoying. I tried wearing socks but that defeats the purpose of the shoes, plus it pushes my toes too far up to the top of the shoe. Returning these and am going to see if the non lined Boston Birkenstocks might work out better.

The left shoe rubbed against my outside left foot. I don't have wide feet and this was the regular model. Wanted to like them for around the house but not comfortable. Sent them back.

Shearling did not last a month,came off. Poor quality product.

VERY disappointed to receive worn pair! Suede was worn on both shoes and even had a piece of grass/pine straw on shoe from previous purchaser! Not acceptable for a $170 shoe?

Unfortunately Zappos sent me the wrong item in the wrong size and there is no way to contact them to correct the error. Guess I will just return the item and be disappointed.

This is a very comfortable shoe !! However, it has 2 very sharp pieces on the insole - and I mean very sharp - and the soft fuzzy shearling is peeled away in 2 places , and all I did was try it on !! What a terrible disappointment!

I ordered two pairs and on both the shearling was pulling apart from the inside exposing sharp edges which dug into my foot. I really wanted to like these. I've been a Birkenstock wearer for 40 years and that quality control on this style leaves a lot to be desired. Had to return both

Have had these one month and the shearling is coming off in clumps. Do not buy this product.

The interior of the shoe has a sharp seam where the Sherpa top and bottom pieces are joined. Both shoes, outer seam by floor of footbed.

Disappointed in quality. Lots of sharp edges where the sole and fur came together on the inside. Too painful to wear. Lots of glue and not sure what else was so sharp. Style is frumpy. I love my Arizona's but these go back

these shoes were sent in a plastic mailing bag, and housed in a generic box. disgusting !!!!!!!!!!

Perfect fit. Ordered my usual size. I have a wide foot and loved the toe room. The problem I’ve run into is after having worn them approximately a dozen times, the hide with the fur on the sole is peeling off. This peeling is starting at the edges and peeling away from the sole. Soooooo bummed! Returning these. Not sure if it’s just this pair? Deflect?

I’ve never owned a pair of Birkenstock’s before but expected them to be comfortable. These were not. The footbed is hard (no cushioning other than the shearling lining) and there are lumps in the footbed that would hit my heel or the ball of my foot. I imagine(?) they were supposed to be support for your arch but they were rock hard and hit in weird places no matter how far up or back I tried to slide my foot. It felt really good to take them off at the end of the day, like taking off a pair of 4” heels. This kind of shoe should feel better than that. I should’ve bought Ugg’s.

there was a piece of plastic sticking out from an inner seam inside shoe which was odd, and the shearling was of poor quality and falling off of the shoe with barely a touch

I was sent one shoe size 37 and one shoe size 38. Returning and will try to re-order.

I bought a pair of Boston Shearling slippers last year and the right-side shoe has developed an odd and subtle bump that pokes into the arch of my foot. I love the slippers and keep trying to wear them, but I cannot walk normally in them on my right foot because of this problem in the shoe. I don't know if it's something my local cobbler can fix, because otherwise I would keep them.
