These boots just don't hold up. After 3 months the upper on one is ripping apart at the seam. I probably wear these boots once every two weeks.

I was excited to get these boots from born..but when I got them I was disappointed. Born boots are usually well thought out designs. This bootie looks good, but when you try to put it on it is a struggle. the design barely left any room for your foot to go into the shoe. I could see how given time, the material would probably tear. Just from the torking of the shoe to get your foot in. I have small narrow feet as it is. Had to return them. Maybe try a different style next time.

These are nice looking boots with the distressed brown leather look. I found them lacking arch support or any real footbed comfort, and wide around the ankle. I do have narrow low volume feet and while the toe and heel areas feel good there is too much slop around the midfoot and ankle area.

These are without a doubt the handsomest shoes that I have ever bought. But they are designed so that all the weight is in the front part of the foot. They seemed totally comfortable in the house, and grocery shopping too. Then I walked to a neighbor's house and back, maybe a mile total. My legs and lower back went totally out of alignment! After a week of yoga and negative heel shoes, I finally felt normal again. Thank you kindly Zappos for letting me exchange these (even though they were worn) for Merrell slides and Dansko pro clogs that keep my weight in my heels!

The leather is extremely stiff and hard. It was difficult to get on, even after unbuckling. Once on, it felt like a good fit and would have been comfortable except that the front of the boot cut into my leg when walking. I also didn't like the way the sole curves upward so your toe is off the ground. Just looks weird to me, much more pronounced than in the photos. A bit of a clunky industrial look. Not what I was looking for, so back it goes. Thanks Zappos for letting me try it.

Very nice looking boot. I normally wear a 6.5, but this boot was too big overall. I'm going to try the 6 and hope that it fits better. It seems like it would be comfortable if the fit is correct.

Not the quality of Born I'm used to. Very disappointed!

I have another pair of Borns (which I love) in 8.5, so I ordered these in 8.5, and I couldn't get my feet into them! I finally forced my left foot in barefoot - and weirdly, the length of the shoe is fine. But the heel is way too narrow. The top of the shaft is also really stiff; I could see these boots pulling your socks down as you walk. It's a good-looking shoe, but the design doesn't work.

I loved the look of these boots and they fit great at first but after wearing them 4 times the right shoe has begun to stretch. I understand that leather will give but I am struggling to keep it on my foot. I have purchased other born boots that are amazing. Very disappointed. What a waist of money.

I was very happy with these boots until the day I went out in the rain. My feet were soaked within a few minutes--and I did not jump into puddles, just walked on the sidewalk. When you buy boots like this, you expect to be able to use them during regular fall-winter weather. I did not expect snow boots, but neither did I want to buy summer hoes...

DONT DO IT! I got these 1 week ago and they already look like they are very old - with one little nick of a plastic shopping cart the black leather wrap on the heal tore and looks very bad. I expect better quality from this brand and this price point. They are very comfortable, so much so that I'll take them to my shoe repair guy to see if he can reasonably re-wrap the heels. If it's more then these are going back. This makes me dubious of this brand overall. I think I'll spend the big bucks and stick with Frye. Bye Bye Born...

I own various Born shoes; however, this boot has no sole support and definitely not recommended for walking or work.

I loved these shoes, until after owning them for four months, I noticed the seam split open on the side and put a one inch hole in my shoe. I paid a lot for these shoes and love Born style, until now.

I loved the style and the comfort of these boots, but was disappointed at how they wore out very quickly. I've worn them frequently in the 2 months I've owned them to my sit down office job, and yet the heels have worn through to expose the white plastic under layer material beneath the wood-looking outer veneer. This white plastic is exposed on both back heels, and a little bit on the inner corner of the heel near the arches. I have other Born leather shoes that didn't have this problem, and nothing seems unusual about these Jem boots (workmanship and details were tidy when purchased and comparable to the other Born shoes I have).

The leather on the heel wore off to reveal white plastic after wearing them very infrequently in the last six months. I took them back to the local retailer in Homer, Alaska to return them. The Born rep refused to warranty them. The sales person remarked that the wear probably occurred due to "driving." Ridiculous! I won't buy another Born product.

I am super disappointed in these boots. I thought Born were high quality and they certainly cost enough, but after less than a month of wear the rubber around the heel has completely torn off, leaving white plastic exposed. The entire heel is just plastic covered by apparently poor quality rubber, because the rubber has worn off the sides and the bottom of the heel on both boots. When I walk it makes an incredibly loud hollow plastic sound. Not what I expected at all from a brand that I had always heard was quality. The leather upper was great, comfortable, and stylish, but the heel is just appallingly bad. I wish that I could get a refund because this was way too much money to spend for something that shredded within a month of regular wear. Do not waste your money! I am steering clear from Born shoes from now on.

They run extremely narrow. I have a narrow foot, but these boots were tight to the point that I could barely squeeze my foot into them with a thin sock. Following another reviewer's advice, I bought my regular size and a size up. My size was impossibly tight. The size up just barely fit width-wise but, of course, slipped in the heel. It could be a design flaw in this style.
